Chapter 12

“I-It’s nothing.” Su Kexin was so nervous that she began to stutter, hurriedly stashing the box behind her back. “It’s the same as the one you got. Uh… My stomach hurts real bad, lemme go to the washroom.”

With that, Su Kexin practically fled to the washroom.

After she sat down in one of the cubicles, Su Kexin finally opened that pretty little box again.

Unlike the branded scarf Xiao Mei and Sis Zheng received, there was actually a set of keys in Su Kexin’s box.

Su Kexin picked up the keys, but before she could recover from her shock, she heard her phone vibrate in her bag.

Switching it on, she saw that it was a message from her contact called 5000 Yuan Debtor.

5000 Yuan Debtor was the name Su Kexin had saved Gu Chi’s number under. Who could have expected her debtor to turn into her husband the very next day?

Su Kexin swiped her phone to unlock it and saw that Gu Chi had sent her address, situated in the most expensive neighborhood of mansions in S City.

The address and the key.

Su Kexin immediately understood that Gu Chi was serious about her moving in with him.

Of course, there was nothing wrong with Gu Chi thinking that. They were legally married now, so they should be living together.

Su Kexin hastily stuffed the keys into her bag, and after some hesitation, she changed Gu Chi’s number to say “Husband”.

It was “Husband”, not “Darling”. Both were a single word that implied marriage, but the first had a sense of distance that the former did not.

Just like their relationship.

After Su Kexin came out of the toilet, she returned to the magazine company with Xiao Mei and Sis Zheng.

For this interview, Su Kexin and the others brought a photographer with them. They had taken a few photos during the interview, but the magazine did not dare to publish them without Gu Chi’s approval.

Hence, the editor-in-chief tried approaching Gu Chi’s side again to ask if they could publish his photo.

The editor-in-chief was just trying their luck. After all, the president of Chiyao was known for being mysterious, and it was already surprising enough that he accepted the interview this time. They barely even dared to dream about publishing his pictures.

To their shock, however, Gu Chi’s side actually agreed to it without hesitation. At that moment, the entire company was ablaze.

“Well, I’ll be! The president of the Chiyao Group’s photos! Our magazine is going to strike it rich this time!”

“Hey, forget all that nonsense. Lil Zhang, hurry up and show us the Chiyao president's pictures. I wanna see if he’s as handsome as Xiao Mei said!”

Without Gu Chi’s approval earlier, Su Kexin and the others did not even dare to circulate the photos internally. Now that they had the permission, everyone soon surrounded the photographer, Lil Zhang.

Lil Zhang turned on his computer, and Gu Chi’s photos appeared on the screen.

At once, all the women in the company exploded once more.

“Whoa! He’s so hot! Xiao Mei, your description doesn’t come up to a tenth of how hot the Chiyao president really is!”

“Yeah! With that face, none of the celebs, young or old, can compete with him!”

“Hey, but isn’t the chair President Gu’s sitting on a little weird? Why does it look like… a wheelchair?”

Someone finally noticed the wheelchair Gu Chi was sitting on, and everyone instantly fell quiet.

“Yeah,” Xiao Mei said boldly. “President Gu is wheelchair-bound. But so what? He’s so good-looking and so rich too, so he’s a fairytale prince even if he is sitting in a wheelchair!”

The women around her soon voiced their assent, but their male colleagues began to feel a little salty. One of them said sourly, “Tch, so what if he’s rich and handsome? Don’t you know that most men in wheelchairs can’t get that thing up and running anymore either?”

“That’s right, you said he just got married, right? I bet his new wife might end up real lonely.”

Su Kexin had been drinking some water and staying out of the conversation, but when she heard that, she choked on her water and began to cough violently.
