Chapter 6

An hour later, Su Kexin walked out of the Civil Affairs Bureau with the red marriage booklet in her hands. She felt all floaty, as though this was a dream.

She had never expected that she would suddenly marry a man like that, and a man that she had barely known at that.

Everything was happening just so unrealistically. Su Kexin had not even realized that, throughout the entire process of their encounter to their registration, the man had not once asked her why she had her household registration booklet with her.

Su Kexin looked down at her marriage registration booklet and saw the two of them sitting side by side in the picture, the man looking distant and her looking uneasy, anxious.

Underneath the picture, there were their names.

It was ridiculous to think about, but she only found out her newlywed husband's name from her marriage booklet.

Gu Chi.

It was a simple but elegant name that really suited this man's aura.

However, aside from his name and his phone number, Su Kexin did not seem to know anything else about her husband.

All of a sudden, she realized she might have been a bit too hasty here. Although he looked decent and all, what if he was a monster among men?

Just as Su Kexin was beginning to regret it, a well-defined hand suddenly thrust a card toward her.

"Miss Su, I know girls look forward to a wedding ceremony, rings, and whatnot, but I'm sorry, I don't have the time to deal with all that. If you want a ring, choose one for yourself."

The man's cold and clear voice spoke from next to her, and Su Kexin turned her head to see Gu Chi looking at her, his obsidian eyes bottomless.

"It's alright." Su Kexin finally returned to her senses and hurriedly waved it off. "I don't care about these things."

She was past the age when she pursued romance. More importantly, he may be her husband in name, but she still did not want to owe him anything.

However, he did not give her a chance to say no.

"A ring is necessary," Gu Chi said mildly, grabbing Su Kexin's wrist abruptly and putting the card in the middle of her palm.

For a second there, Su Kexin was lost.

"Okay then." They were "newly married" after all, so Su Kexin did not want to decline his good intentions over something so trivial. She accepted the card.

"I have a meeting in the afternoon, so I won't send you off now." Gu Chi's tone was as calm as ever. Although his relationship with Su Kexin was different now, his attitude toward her seemed unchanged.

"Sure." Su Kexin never expected him to really love her as his wife, so she was not disappointed either.

"Oh yes, about my address." Gu Chi seemed to remember something, and he added, "I'll send it to you later. When it's convenient for you, just move in."

Su Kexin suddenly felt a little nervous, saying hastily, "There's no rush for that."

Of course Su Kexin knew that they should logically move in together after they got married, but she really was not ready to stay under the same roof with a man she did not know.

Perhaps Su Kexin's rejection was just too obvious. Gu Chi finally raised his gaze slightly and gave her another look, leaving her feeling a little awkward again.

However, Gu Chi did not say anything more. He just pressed the button on his wheelchair and changed its direction. "If there isn't anything else, I'll make a move first then."

Su Kexin nodded. At first she wanted to ask if he would be okay alone, but it still felt rather rude to her, so she did not ask.

As she watched the man before her leave slowly, Su Kexin was about to get onto the bus as well. The moment she turned around, though, she suddenly remembered something.

"Ah, Gu Chi, wait!"

Su Kexin yelled out in a panic, hurriedly reaching into her bag for something and chasing after Gu Chi.
