Chapter 5

"Huh?" Su Kexin was completely dumbfounded now. She could barely believe her ears. "A marriage registration?"

Perhaps Su Kexin was being a little slow to react, so the man's good-looking brows furrowed slightly. He said, "Miss Su, you're in a real hurry to get married, right?"

The man sounded so certain that Su Kexin knew he had overheard her conversation with Feng Zheng last night. Her face burned a little despite herself.

"Coincidentally, I'm in the same boat," the man continued before Su Kexin replied, speaking as calmly as though this was merely a business transaction and not something that pertained to the rest of their lives. "We shall just take what we need. Is there anything wrong with that?"

Su Kexin finally began to react.

This man in front of her actually wanted to marry her.

However, this was only their second time meeting each other. That was just ridiculous!

"Stop pulling my leg, mister."

Su Kexin wanted to take out the money and return it to him before leaving immediately, but the man only spoke again slowly.

"Miss Su, if you were willing to give a man like the one last night a chance, why won't you afford me the same?" The man's words sounded like he was seeking Su Kexin's approval, but there was no compromise in his tone. "Am I any worse than he was? Oh, I get it. You can't accept me for my disability, Miss Su."

"Of course that's not it," Su Kexin blurted. It was only when she met the man's bemused black eyes that she realized he had been stringing her along.

Su Kexin bit her lip somewhat frustratedly and had no choice but to straighten her expression before saying, "Mister, we don't even know each other. Such a decision is just too sudden."

"You didn't know the men you went on blind dates with, either," the man replied calmly but directly. Su Kexin was never good with words, so she could not quite find any way to retort.

"Miss Su." The man laced his hands together and put them on his slender legs, resting on the wheelchair. He raised his bright gaze to look at Su Kexin. "I believe you really need this marriage. If you miss it, when do you think your next chance will be?"

It had to be said that the man really was an expert negotiator. He could catch a hold of Su Kexin's weakness with every sentence.

Yes, she really needed this marriage.

Rather, she really needed a household registration record in this city.

If it were not for that, she would not have gone on blind dates with so many men over a mere three months, even meeting up with a specimen of a man like Feng Zheng.

Su Kexin admitted that she had been swayed, and all of a sudden she could not decline him again. She just stared at the man in the wheelchair for a very long time before forcing out the words, "Do you… have a residence record here in S City?"

The corners of the man's lips lifted at those words. "I do."

Su Kexin did not reply anymore. Her hand in her bag simply tightened around her household registration booklet.

Coincidentally, the hospital needed her mother's booklet for some procedures today so she had brought their household registration booklet out with her.

Was this really fate, then?

With that in mind, Su Kexin looked at the man before her again.

Although he was sitting in a wheelchair, his looks and aura did seem infinitely better than those messy men she had met on her blind dates.

'Su Kexin, oh, Su Kexin. For the past three months, all you wanted was to quickly marry a local here and get a registration in this city, right?

'Now the chance to fulfill that wish is right in front of you, so what are you hesitating for?'

Thousands of thoughts ran through her mind, but Su Kexin eventually bit her lip and forced down the last of her hesitation. She raised her head abruptly.

"Alright. I'll do it."
