Anaya arrived at the address sent to her by the matchmaking agent. She had implored for them to set a date as soon as possible and they made sure her request was fulfilled.

The restaurant was a cool place with just a few customers having dinner. The romantic music playing in the background added to the sophisticated and classy decor.

A gentle smile slipped onto her face as she stepped inside. The agency had already done well by arranging a romantic setting.

“Good evening, ma’am. May I know the name of your reservation?” A waiter approached her and asked.

“Yeah, Cupid’s Little Assistant. Anaya Robinson.” Anaya informed him and he nodded before opening the tablet in his hand.

“Yes, I see your name here. Table 5 is your table.” He led the way to the table and she followed behind him.

“Your date hasn’t arrived yet. Should I help you with water or anything before he arrives?”

“Just water will do. Thank you.”

Anaya settled on the seat, feeling a bit queasy now that she was just a few minutes away from meeting her date. She didn’t have the luxury to be picky. As long as he wasn’t an old man, she was going to propose they get married as soon as possible.

She just needed to be married in order for her to get the trust fund. As soon as it was in her possession, she was going to file for a divorce. But she needed to make sure that their marriage seemed as real as it could be.

Her mother’s lawyer, Mr. Kim, was a very strict man and he hardly tolerated foul play. If he somehow found out that she had arranged a marriage just for the trust fund, he had the power to nullify her right to inherit her mother’s wealth.

Her mother had given him that power because she wanted Anaya to realise the essence of getting married for love. But the situation at hand was dire. If she didn’t get married to a man of her choice anytime soon, her uncle was going to force her to get married to whoever he chose.

And that was going to be the worst case scenario.

Meanwhile, Henry arrived at the restaurant the agent had sent to him. He took a look at his watch, wanting to get this done and over with. He’d already decided to choose his first match as time was of essence to him. Then, have Alex run a background check on her.

If everything went well, they should be getting married by the ending of the month.

After his wife’s tragic death, he hadn’t been in another relationship, not even for the fun of it. He thought that he was doing his son right by not marrying another woman but it seemed he was wrong.

He failed to realise that Ryle, just like any other child, would always crave a motherly figure. And no nanny could ever fill up that spot. A small part of him felt like he was betraying his late wife but Ryle’s needs mattered a lot to him.

And knowing Lauren, he knew she would want him to do what was best for Ryle and their family.

“Good evening, sir. May I know the name on your reservation?” A waiter said to him as he entered the restaurant.

“I’m not quite sure.” Henry scratched his head, realising he didn’t even get the name of the matchmaking agency Alex booked. “Check for Henry Fitzgerald.”

The waiter tapped his tablet before looking up at Henry. “From Cupid’s Little Assistant?”

“I believe.”

“This way, sir. Your date arrived not too long ago.” The waiter led him to a table.

The lady in question sat, backing him, but her long and straight brown hair streaming down her back looked familiar.

“Ma’am, your date is here.” The waiter said before walking away.

“Good evening.” Henry moved to sit across her when he paused in his movements.

He saw a pleasant smile forming on her lips as her blue eyes brightened with recognition. This was the same irresponsible lady he had dropped off at the hotel last night.

“You…”

“You-”

They both blurted out at the same time.

  • You Want Me Back, Don't You?   A Steamy Confession

Anaya stared at Henry for a moment, her heart beating faster than usual at his confession. He had cleared the attic? Why? And most importantly, why was he telling her that?Slowly, she dropped her glass of champagne on the table, not wanting to seem too happy by the news. If he had really cleaned the attic, did that mean that he was trying to move on from his first wife now?“Okay…” Anaya replied, not knowing what else to say.“Okay? Is that all you’re going to say?” Henry raised an eyebrow but she could see the corner of his lips rising a little.“What else do you want me to say? I don’t think it would be polite if I start jumping up and down out of joy.” Anaya snickered.“Do you want to jump out of joy?” Henry tilted his head as he asked.“Maybe.” Anaya bit her lips to stop her from smiling. “That was a huge step in your part. What made you decide to do it?” “Last night.” Henry answered before taking another sip from his glass. “When I held you in your arms, I felt…something I have

”Henry.” Anaya called as soon as she stepped into the house. She had rushed here as soon as she got the urgent text from Henry. She tried calling him on her way but his number was unreachable.Different thoughts had been running through her head, and her worst fear was that something had happened to Ryle. She frowned when she saw the house was dark and she had to squint her eyes to reach out for the switch on the hall.A soft gasp escaped her lips when red petals began to fall over from the roof. A red carpet was placed on the floor and she walked down the path leading her to the dining table.Scented candles illuminated the living room, creating a cool and peaceful ambience. Anaya couldn’t get the smile out of her face as she stopped by the dining table where a delicious looking meal was laid down.“What–” Henry came out, holding a bouquet of red roses with a smile on his face. He looked handsome as ever in the simple dress shirt and pants he wore, his black locks swept over his fa

  • You Want Me Back, Don't You?   New Suspicions

“Everything is normal?” Anaya asked as she walked into her company, talking to the private investigator on the phone.“Yes, ma’m. She had a pretty normal life and family until she met Thomas Edingard at a party. Her records show no motive for usurping his company. Do you still need me to find out more?” Anaya paused for a while, pursing her lips. She had no idea what to say. The fact that nothing suspicious came from Sandra’s past was even more skeptical. The look of pure disdain in Sandra’s eyes couldn't leave her head. There has to be something.“Yes, keep checking. Especially if there’s any connection between her and me.” Anaya said as she got into her elevator.“Alright, ma’am. I’ll let you know as soon as I have something.” Anaya hung up the phone and wondered if she was just overthinking this issue with Sandra. She had spoken to her lawyer regarding the contract and he was working on a lawsuit already.Thomas has been pestering her to help him out with the company but she wasn

“And the little bunny played with his best friend happily ever after.” Anaya rested by the doorway just as Henry finished Ryle’s bedtime story. She watched with a tired smile as Henry kissed Ryle’s forehead, brushing his hair gently.“I love you.” Henry muttered and Ryle mumbled an incoherent reply before his eyes closed.Henry turned around and paused for a moment, appearing surprised to see Anaya. “Since when have you been standing there?’” He whispered, walking towards her.“Since the happily ever after ending.” Anaya said before closing the door behind them. “It’s a miracle the bunny’s brain cells weren’t ripped out by his best friend.” Henry laughed and Anaya smiled at the sight. She used to think Henry only reserved his joyful side for Ryle but these days, he had gotten a lot more comfortable with her and now, it wasn’t that hard for her to make him smile.“My bedtime stories aren’t as graphic as you describe it, Anaya.” Henry grabbed her hand as they moved to the bedroom and

  • You Want Me Back, Don't You?   A Cheque For The Years Spent

Anaya squirmed, trying to free herself from the iron grip around her mouth. She could tell it was a man from the strong man holding her back. Her hands reached out, trying to find something to hit the person.“Stop panicking, it’s me!” A familiar voice flooded her ears and she frowned, trying to put a face to the voice. “It’s your uncle, Goddamnit!” Her body slumped when she realised it was, indeed, her uncle who had her on a death grip. His hands loosened and she pushed him away, whirling around with disbelief.“What the heck is going on, Charles?” She spat at her uncle. He was dressed in an all-black outfit, half of his face covered up with the turtle neck shirt. He looked so different from how she last saw him, all donned up in a suit. “Shhh! Lower your voice, girl.” He hissed at her, his eyes looking out the window as though he was running from someone.“What are you doing in my car like a thief? How on earth did you even break in?” “You don’t need to know that. You have some g

  • You Want Me Back, Don't You?   Dinner With Daisy

“Oh, I love this place.” Daisy sighed in bliss as she sipped from her wine. Anaya dropped her glass on the table, watching her friend carefully. “I know, right? As soon as I saw it on IG, I knew you were going to love it.” She smiled before reaching for her utensils to cut the steak. After Maia had noted that Daisy disappeared during the last attack at the product launch and appeared conveniently after the damage had been done, Anaya knew she had to do something to find out the truth. It wasn’t like she didn’t trust Daisy. They had been friends ever since high school and even though Daisy might act like a brat sometimes, Anaya never once doubted her loyalty. But the situation she was in at the moment was dire. She had no single clues leading to the culprit and the private investigator Henry hired hadn’t reported back to them. So, she organised this dinner with her friend in order for her to subtly get any information. Daisy was very talkative and free, Anaya knew she just had to ask

“We’re here, ma’am.” Anaya looked up when her new bodyguard, Pierre, informed her of their arrival. Henry had appointed Pierre to accompany her at all times in case of any other attack by the assassin. At first, she wanted to refuse because she wasn’t used to being with a bodyguard 24/7 but she thought against it. Henry was doing this for her safety and she needed to comply after she had involved him in this mess. She turned towards the window, looking up at the tall building she visited only a couple of times when she was dating Thomas. It looked a bit different and she guessed that the new owner was already making changes.Stepping out of her car, Anaya buttoned her black blazer as she walked into the building with Pierre right behind her. The place was buzzing with employees moving from one place to another, all busy with one thing or the other. She stopped by the reception where the woman with a polite smile was waiting for her. “Good morning, ma’am. How may I help you?” She ask

  • You Want Me Back, Don't You?   Movie Night and Kisses

“Yayyy!” Ryle screamed excitedly as he jumped on the blankets laid on the floor.“Ryle, you better not be jumping on those blankets!” Anaya’s voice sounded across the hallway before she walked into the living room with the bowl of popcorn.Henry stood up from the couch and took the bowl from her, arranging it with other snacks on the floor. It was the weekend and Ryle wanted to have a movie night so Anaya prepared everything they needed.Henry didn’t want to join initially because of work but there was little he could do when Anaya ordered him to set the fluffy blankets and cushions on the floor. “Sorry,” Ryle smiled sheepishly and then moved to take the remote from the table. “What movie should I play?” “Recommend something for us, Ryle.” Anaya sat on the blanket and Henry settled down next to her.“Are we really going to sit for hours watching a damn cartoon?” Henry huffed under his breath and Anaya stuffed a handful of popcorn into his mouth. “Shh!” She warned him just as the mo

  • You Want Me Back, Don't You?   A Family Truce

Anaya sat in the restaurant, sipping her juice elegantly as she waited for her guests. A part of her was doubting they would come but she wanted to place her trust on them, however little.A smirk spread on her face when the door to the restaurant opened up and the two ladies walked in. She waved her hand towards Margeret and Hana who both looked unhappy, to say the least. She had gotten their numbers from Henry and asked for them to meet up for lunch. Margeret had declined, claiming she had another appointment but Anaya made her know the purpose for the meeting was to discuss Henry.Hana agreed right away and Anaya knew Hana was happy to find another way to troll her after the stunt she pulled last time she came to her office, pretending to be her ‘bestie’.“Hello, mother and sister-in-law.” Anaya stood up to greet them with a wide smile. “Make it quick. We don’t have all day.” Margeret snapped before plopping down the seat and Hana greeted her with a not so genuine smile.Anaya rel
