The necklace that was given to her by Sean was an absolute treasure, which was worth a great deal of money. The pawnbroker certainly recognized its value, but he took advantage of her unfortunate situation for his own benefit. He offered to pay her only 80,000 dollars for the necklace, and not a penny more.

She sneered at the fickleness of relationships. All it took was 80,000 dollars to sell off one’s heart.
