A Pile Of Garbage?!

"Shit! I am already late", Elaine couldn't help swearing as she searched her locker again to only find the trouser right inside there. 'Ha' she thought 'I might be going mad right?'

It wasn't in her character to swear like that. She hurriedly clasped her hands on her mouth as if she had said something really terrible.

'Well whatever', she thought, after all only god was the one listening to her. But even god couldn't save her from her manager's wrath if she delayed any longer. Carrying her bag on her back she ran at full speed towards the convenience store where she did her part time job.

"Oh, welcome ma'am", her manager greeted her with a smile showing her front two crooked teeth. "You are pretty early today. It would have been better if you had taken your sweet time coming. But since you are here would you like me to serve you a cup of coffee or perhaps tea?" "What do you say, Ma'am?" She emphasized her sentence at the end pressuring already sweating Elaine.

"Sorry Mrs. Hopkins", she bowed down apologized to her. "It won't happen again."

"It better not". Then she walked away swaying her hips looking like a duckling.

Elaine wanted to laugh but she was caught up in her work for the customers came pouring in the shop. It was already eight in the evening when she finally finished her work and she walked on the busy night street pulling her tiered body. Whole day she was busy so it was only natural she would be tiered.

She looked at the people closing their shops and going home. The children were catching their parents hand as they walked home. She looked at the warm scene with a bit of pain in her eyes.

Her mood used to get even more terrible at this time of day when she was exhausted from the whole day full of incidents and considering how she had to deal with bullying, fighting, getting late and all felt dejected. After all she was just a teenager.

Her rundown home was in a quiet corner of the village. It was the only thing left behind by her parents before they died in an accident 2 years ago. She was already used to the loneliness and silence of her home but deep inside she craved the warmth and smile that could never come back. She had been suppressing her desire and wishes for whole two years so she didn't even notice that feeling inside her.

Looking at her desolate home Elaine laughed self mockingly. She didn't deserve to wish for that happiness when she was the …. Before she could finish her thought her attention was grabbed by a big pile on the ground.

In the dark night, it indeed looked like as if someone had dumped garbage near her home. On moving closer she could hear someone groaning and moaning in pain. The muffled voice sounded really heart breaking. When she finally reached where the pile was she was shocked to see it was a person and top of that they seemed to be injured.

The person moved as if in a lot of pain. 'Did this person fall out from the sky?' Elaine was confused as there was no way someone would knowingly come there in such a desolate place when injured if they wanted help. The painful groan finally stopped. Guess they passed out huh.

'Just my luck', she thought. Still she couldn't leave whoever it was there. Looking cautiously around to see any abnormalities she vigilantly approached the injured person. She could smell blood on the person.

The person was quite big and tall. She thought it was probably a man but who knows it could be a girl under that heavy long dress. After all she herself was a tall girl with amazing height. Since it was dark outside she didn't know if the person was a man or a woman.

She decided to carry the person on her back and dragged both of them towards her house 3 meters away.

She overestimated herself.

'Though the person looked big, the body was still slender but' 'way to heavy', she thought. She felt as if it took forever to reach the house.

Quickly turning the key on the locker of the door she opened to door and shoved the person first and she entered too and tightly shut the door.

All these series of actions were being silently watched by a figure hiding in the shadows that had arrived as soon as Elaine picked up the person lying on the ground.  As soon as the door of the house closed behind the two figures the shadow also disappeared as if no one had been there.
