The place became chaotic as everyone scrambled to leave.

“Go, I’ll meet you outside,” Carrie told Zeda as she took out her phone to take pictures and videos of the magical item.

Zeda grabbed their shopping bags and ran outside, only stopping when she had put a safe distance between herself and the boutique. Carrie met her a moment later, a blur of werewolf speed.

An explosion shook the ground, and the Fashion Zone split in two. One side burst into flames, while the other remained untouched for a moment.

“Someone call for help!” people screamed, some crying, some filming the spectacle.

Zeda watched as a guy and a girl stepped forward, making hand gestures. To her surprise, sand came from nowhere and drifted toward the fire.

“What are they doing?” she asked Carrie, whose hands were flying across her phone screen.

“They’re earth mages. They’re trying to stop the fire with sand,” Carrie replied.

“What the hell took you so long!” Zeda rounded on Adrian the moment he exited a cab.He frowned and took a step back from the raw anger on her face. “Someone punctured the tires of my car and—”“And you couldn’t run here? Mages are so weak,” Torvin cut him off, shaking his head.“Then why can’t you put out the fire since you’re so powerful, animal?” Adrian shot back, his voice cold.“What?” Torvin took a step forward, his golden eyes glittering. Adrian also stepped forward, his silver eyes flashing as water danced on his palms.“That’s enough,” Mr. Percival said, his voice low and cold. They glanced at him, and their eyes returned to normal.“Prince Adrian, as a water and air mage who has ascended the realm, you should be able to put out this magical fire no matter how powerful it is,” Mr. Percival said.“I can do that,” Adrian replied confidently.“Then get to it. We need to rescue Prince Lucian,” Mr. Percival said.Adrian frowned. “What happened to Lucian?”“Just go, you’ll hear the

  • Zeda And The Four Princes Of Shadowbrook Academy    SHOPPING TRIP: A BOMB UNDER THE SHELF

“Oh my goodness! Where did this picture come from?” Zeda asked, staring at her phone screen.A picture of her and Lucian kissing at the restaurant had been uploaded just a few minutes ago and was already viral on the school’s website.“Someone must have taken it, of course,” Carrie replied, looking at the same picture on her own phone.“But we were the only ones in the restaurant,” Zeda reminded her. “He booked the whole place.”Carrie looked at her, amused. “The waiters took the picture, obviously.”“But,” Zeda stammered, frowning. “They're workers. What business do they have spreading rumors like students?”“Most of them are students,” Carrie chuckled. “They work here to earn a living.”“Ugh,” Zeda grumbled, putting her phone down and leaning back in the cab.The cab was taking them to Fashion Zone, the best boutique at the academy. It was Friday morning, and they needed to get their clothes and shoes for the party tonight.A lot had happened in the last two days. After her dates wi

  • Zeda And The Four Princes Of Shadowbrook Academy    A MOMENT OF FOREVER

Zeda started screaming in delight when Lucian changed gears, her hair flying behind her. They laughed hysterically, and Zeda wished they could do this every day. The drink had helped, just as he promised. She felt light and free, not drunk, which made the experience even more thrilling."Now I know why your demon is always calm when you ride a bike," Zeda said when Lucian slowed to a cruise. His only reply was a soft chuckle."You mentioned music, too, when you talked about how you calm him," she said."Yeah, music helps a lot. It kind of puts him to sleep," he replied."I heard you're the best singer in the academy, and you play all the instruments, too?" she asked.Lucian shrugged as if it were nothing. "Yeah, I guess. I have almost every instrument in my house.""Really? Can you show me?"Lucian parked at his garage, which held his luxury car and another sleek, red motorcycle."Is this the demon kingdom? How do you live here all alone?" Zeda asked, looking around. The buildings w

  • Zeda And The Four Princes Of Shadowbrook Academy    A NEW “US”

Lucian stared at Zeda, hurt flashing in his eyes.“Is that what you think?” His voice was low, almost disappointed.Zeda opened her mouth to rephrase her question, but he held up a hand.“Look, I might be a lot of things, but I’m not selfish, especially not with you,” he said. “I’ve been able to control my beast just fine with my bike or music ever since I came of age. I don't need anything else to keep the monster at bay.”He stood up and then knelt before her, easily tilting her chair to face him as if she weighed nothing. He took her hands in his, his midnight eyes locking with hers.“Zeda, love,” he said, “I called you because I found myself wanting to be with you. I want an ‘us.’ My beast being calm around you is a bonus, not the reason. Please know that.”Zeda sat still, stunned and speechless. She didn't know how to respond, so she just smiled and nodded, her heart a fluttering mess.He shifted a strand of hair from her eyes, and the movement revealed a glimpse of a dark tattoo

  • Zeda And The Four Princes Of Shadowbrook Academy    HIS TRUE SELF: THE MONSTER’S CONFESSION

“Your turn,” Zeda said to Lucian after they finished eating. “Tell me about you. What have you been up to?”“Nothing much. I’m an only child,” he said.“Me too,” Zeda smiled.“Don’t you think we share a lot in common?” Lucian asked with a dark look in his eyes.“I guess so,” she replied with a shy smile.“What do you want to know about me, love?” he asked, leaning forward with a charming smile.“A lot. But I’m most curious about why you don’t go on missions with the other princes, even in the mixed team, like I heard.”Lucian immediately stiffened, his smile disappearing. Zeda instantly regretted her words. Carrie had told her this was something he never talked about. Lucian leaned back and poured himself a glass of wine, downing it all at once. She was about to tell him to forget it, but he cleared his throat, and she waited.“I don’t go on missions because I don’t want to reveal my true self,” he said.“Why not?” Zeda asked.“Because I’m a monster on the inside, and I’m afraid I wo
