To say I was taken aback by her question was not an understatement. I wondered if she meant having kids with her or with someone else. Having kids in general was something I wanted because I grew up as an only child—mostly lonely and with no one to talk to. Having a family of my own was always a dream. Yet, when she asked me that question, I wasn’t so sure.

“Is something bothering you?”

I flicked Zesa a glance. She was seated beside me in the car as I drove to my mother’s house. I lowered my eyes to her exposed thigh. She wore a black bodycon lace dress that with puffy sleeves and a V-neck that showed little cleavage. It was as if she was inviting me to repeat what had happened today. I still didn’t understand why I did what I did today. What I know is, I couldn’t stop myself when I saw her in that skirt after putting two and two together. I felt like a fool for reacting the way I did, so I wanted to make her understand it meant nothing to me.
