Chapter 7

작가: Julian Cross
Outside the penthouse, the emergency lights in the hallway had long since died.

The entire corridor was pitch black, and the air was thick with rot and the heavy smell of blood. Julian leaned against the cold wall, his heart pounding wildly as his legs were shaking from fear and hunger.

He gulped with his dry throat and gripped the kitchen knife with both hands. Following the faint green glow of the exit sign, he moved toward the elevator one step at a time.

  • Zombies Be My Wrath   Chapter 10

After Julian died, the horde in the hallway did not leave. The dozens of zombies devoured every bit of Julian's flesh and blood, but they still lingered outside the penthouse. They could smell a living person through the crack under the door. Bang! Bang! The zombies began throwing themselves against the front door. But by the thirtieth day of the zombie apocalypse and a month of neglect, with Julian's frantic pounding and the zombies' relentless attacks, the door finally gave way. Metal groaned under the strain. And then… Bang! With a loud crash, the heavy door collapsed and slammed onto the marble floor of the entryway. Harsh light poured into the condo from outside. And with that light came the horde, like demons from hell. Jessica hid under the bed in the bedroom, both hands clamped over her ears. She was so terrified she lost control of her bladder. Because of her late-stage kidney failure, her body had already broken down badly, and she did not even have the stre

Julian's wails echoed through the quiet hallway. With blood-covered hands, he pounded desperately on the penthouse door. "Jessica! Open the door! Open it now! I've been bitten. Save me!" Julian screamed until his voice cracked, his fingernails scraping and leaving bloody marks on the metal door. Inside the penthouse, Jessica leaned against the wall, trembling as she listened to his miserable screams and frantic pounding. But she did not touch the handle. She covered her mouth tightly instead, her eyes flashing with terror and selfishness. "Open the door! Jessica! You witch! I went out there for you, and you won't open the door?!" Julian cursed outside. Jessica not only refused to open the door, but she also dragged her swollen legs backward inch by inch until she reached the bedroom. Through the thick front door, she shouted, "Julian, you've been bitten! You're about to turn into a zombie! I can't open the door. If I do, I'll die too! You love me so much, so let me live! You

  • Zombies Be My Wrath   Chapter 8

As the virus ate through him and the shock of nearly dying hit Julian's mind, something sealed deep in his mind suddenly broke. Images that did not belong to this life flashed through his mind, like his life passing before his eyes. They were memories from his previous life. He saw the first day of the apocalypse. I had risked infection and rushed downstairs with a baseball bat, fighting my way back from the supermarket with a backpack full of food. He saw days without water or food. I had placed the last half bottle of water and a piece of moldy bread into his hands, even though I was so hungry I could barely stand. He saw the moment the zombies broke through the door. I had stood at the very front with a knife, screaming for him to take Jessica and leave first. But the final image froze at that front door. It froze on the scene where he and Jessica each grabbed one of my arms, shoved me outside, and locked the door behind me. My desperate, piercing screams as the zombie

Following the faint green glow of the exit sign, he moved toward the elevator one step at a time. Munch… Crunch… Suddenly, a chewing sound came from around the corner. Julian was stunned and poked half his head out to look. By the elevator, a zombie in a torn Armani suit was crouched on the floor, gnawing on a corpse that had long since become unrecognizable. As if it had smelled fear coming off a living person, the suited zombie suddenly went still. It slowly turned its head. Its cloudy, pale eyes locked onto Julian. A long, dark red piece of intestine was still hanging from the corner of its torn mouth. "Roa

  • Zombies Be My Wrath   Chapter 6

Day twenty-five of the apocalypse. The last drop of water in the penthouse was gone. For the past three days, Julian and Jessica had survived on the water from the toilet tank. Now even the sludge at the bottom had been licked clean. If they did not go out and look for food and water, they would die of thirst within two days. Julian leaned weakly against the corner, gripping a rusty kitchen knife. His cold gaze slid over Jessica. "Jessica, your body won't hold out much longer anyway. Why don't you go into the hallway and make some noise to lure the zombies away? I'll use the chance to take the emergency stairs down and look for food at the supermarket. I promise, once I find food, I'll come back and save you right away." Jessica was gravely ill, but her brain was still working. She knew Julian too well. He wanted to use her as bait and kill her! "No... I won't go..." Jessica trembled in fear, then crawled and stumbled to Julian's feet, clutching his leg tightly. She raised

Day fifteen of the zombie apocalypse. Famine had fully set in. There was nothing edible left in the penthouse. Even the expensive potted plants had been ripped out by the roots and eaten by Julian. He and Jessica were nothing but skin and bones, their eyes sunken, like two walking skeletons.Jessica was even worse off. Because of her severe kidney failure, her legs were grotesquely swollen, and she no longer had the strength to get out of bed. The urine her body could not expel seemed to seep out through her pores, and the entire main bedroom reeked so badly even flies would seemingly avoid her. She lay on the bed, barely breathing with her eyes unfocused. Julian wandered through the living room, searching every corner for anything they might have missed. Suddenly, his hand brushed against something hard between the leather couch cushions. When he pulled it out, he found a bottle of water that was half full. One of the movers must have shoved it there on moving day! To
