chapter 3

Patrick’s eyes were as blue as the deep sea, and there was a small mole at the corner of his eye. At the moment, because he had been bedridden for a long time, his fair complexion was even more pale, but Aimee still thought that this man was the most beautiful person in the world.

She was stunned.

Maybe he felt the strange gaze. Patrick’s eyeballs moved, and they precisely met Aimee’s gaze.

All of a sudden, anger welled up in his originally calm eyes, mixed with speechlessness and disappointment.

Patrick looked away, looked at Camdyn, and said, “Grandpa, just give up. Many doctors have already sentenced me to death. Don’t be stubborn.”

When Camdyn heard his words, his happiness at seeing his granddaughter-in-law disappeared.

He patiently persuaded, “Pat, please don’t say such things. As long as there is a little hope, Grandpa will never give up. Don’t give up on yourself, okay?”

Patrick looked away, not wanting to see the old man’s worried and helpless look.

Since his accident, he had seen his grandfather look ten years older.

In the past six months, Grandpa had spent a lot of money seeking medical treatment for him, and he even sought information on the black market and confidential websites.

Patrick witnessed all of this.

But the more this happened, the more hopeless he was for a cure. If it wasn’t for his inability to move, he really wanted to suicide so that this old man could enjoy his late years in peace and stop worrying about him.

Seeing Patrick shut himself up again, Camdyn knew what he was thinking.

He quickly braced himself up and said to Patrick, “Pat, don’t think too much. I didn’t bring a doctor here to see you this time.”

Hearing this, Patrick looked back.

He looked at Camdyn with suspicion. Now, what could make Camdyn happier than finding him a doctor?

Camdyn introduced, “Pat, this is Aimee, the third daughter of the Reed family. I decided to get you two engaged for marriage. From now on, she will be your wife.”

After Camdyn had finished, he saw Patrick sneering, and the anger in his eyes became even more evident.

He didn’t look at Aimee, but said in a cold voice, “Grandpa, I don’t need a wife.”

He was already such a useless person. How could he be worthy of a wife?

“Pat, I just want to find someone to take care of you. There are a bunch of men in this house, and they can’t take care of you meticulously, so, can you just accept Grandpa’s arrangement, OK?” said Camdyn.

He was begging, and Aimee couldn’t help feeling envious when she heard him.

Mason also had such a loving appearance, but the object of his affection would never be her.

Aimee really wanted to say something to Patrick. Like, she was actually a doctor, and she could take care of him professionally, as long as he agreed to Camdyn’s arrangement.

She just couldn’t see Camdyn being so sad.

But she could see that Patrick had a strong resistance to the doctor. Just now, when Camdyn introduced her, he didn’t introduce what she did for her profession. she could understand why.

Thinking for a while, Aimee said, “Mr. Hayden, you don’t need to treat me as your wife, but just a new servant of the family, as long as you won’t get angry at me when you see me.”

Aimee still wanted to fight for herself. She wanted to explore the various precision instruments in this room, so she had to make an agreement with Patrick in advance. Otherwise, when she would often come to this room in the future, and before the instruments had been studied, it was very likely that she would be scolded by this man.

She didn’t want to consume herself on it.

Patrick stared up and down at Aimee, and wanted to ironically say that it was because the Reed family’s business was in trouble, or about to go bankrupt, so her family wanted her to marry him, a useless person. Now, in order to stay here, she offered to be a servant of the Hayden family, which was unexpected.

However, when he saw Aimee’s clear eyes, he just pursed his lips tightly and didn’t say a word.

When Camdyn saw this, he took it as Patrick’s agreement.

He tilted his head and looked at Aimee gratefully, feeling he put this young girl into a tricky situation.

Right now, he was afraid that Patrick would go back on his word, so he immediately said, “Then it’s decided, Pat. Later, I’ll let Aimee move in.”

Patrick didn’t make a sound, which was already the best response.

Out of Patrick’s room, Camdyn said, “Aimee, thank you for being willing to take care of Pat and marry him. I’m really happy.”

Aimee grunted, with a sense of guilt welling up in her heart.

She couldn’t tell the old man why she was willing to do it.

Camdyn said to himself, “Don’t worry, you will be a Hayden in the future. With me around, no one can bully you. When Pat recovers, he will also protect you.”

Aimee nodded and said gratefully, “Thank you, Grandpa.”

This feeling of being treated like a family was really good.

She had some greed for such warmth.

“But, Aimee, you have also seen that Pat hates doctors. Don’t tell Pat about your job for the moment.” Camdyn said.

Aimee said, “Grandpa, I understand. I won’t tell him.”

“That’s good,” Camdyn was much relieved. He patted Aimee’s hand, and suddenly said, “Aimee, I’m very optimistic about you and Pat.”

At his age, he could see many things clearly.

Ever since Patrick had been bedridden, except for his grandfather, he had been irritable with everyone else.

Just now, he obviously wanted to ignore Aimee, but he didn’t embarrass her by saying bad things.

With that alone, Camdyn couldn’t help but think that maybe Aimee was the one who could change Pat’s mind.

Because of this, he looked at Aimee meaningfully.
