Chapter Ten
"I invoke my privilege against self incrimination. I refuse to speak till I get an attorney!" It was a small, soundproofed room with a desk and three chairs. Two for the detectives and one for Raven. There was nothing on the walls, which created a sense of exposure, unfamiliarity and isolation. It heightened the ' get me out of this place' feeling throughout the interrogation. The uncomfortable chair added to the moment of tension. Out of reach of any controls like, light switches or thermostats furthered her discomfort—setting up a feeling of dependence. The one-way mirror increased her anxiety. She knew other detectives were watching the process.Detective Shay grinned, resting his hands on the table and nodded. "Oh, I know. All we need is a confession. Where exactly were you when your father was murdered?"Raven maintained a straight face, she refused to exhibit any form of weakness."I choose to exercise my Fifth Amendment Right." She remarked calmly.Detective Shay arched his e

The sun streaming through her window awakened her. She sat up straight, her heart thudding in her chest. Fresh air filled her lungs and she felt refreshed and exhilarated. The breath-taking scenery captivated her—it was going to be a good day.It was morning. And not the brutal, still-dark-but-technically-morning hours. Few minutes past eight, as a matter of fact. With trembling hands, she shoved back the covers and slid out of bed. And then she remembered Eleano

Getting off a taxi, Raven held on to herself. She was determined to get to her destination. Her eyes wandered around her surroundings. Above a faded zebra crossing, a traffic light frantically changed colors seeming rather like a disco light. A watchman snored comfortably on his dark brown stool under the protection of his shops's roof. Huge giant buildings stood besides the street, quiet as if taken over by an army of libraries. Some windows gave out white and yellow lights, but the others were pitch black. The cool monsoon air carried a sweet moist scent like a candy shop kept inside a refrigerator. The threatening rain left her attention and was interrupted time by time. Once a car passed by. Stray dogs began barking and when the car disappears, the dogs stopped barking satisfied that they had scared the car away. Later, a car came down the road and parked, a man got off the car, walking along the sidewalk. He was directly in front of Raven.A bunch of young kids came out laughing

Chapter Fifteen
PRESENT “According to a witness, you were one of the last people to have been spotted with miss Steel.” The detective said, his voice hoarse and his eyes tired.“Yes I was,” France replied plainly,”I’m sure the witness added that he saw me leave that night.”The detective glared at him, as though he was reading his mind. The man in front of him appeared drowsy, he had pending questions for him.“I carried out some investigations on you,” the detective affirmed and France’s eyes widened in bewilderment. The detective arched his eyebrows,” isn’t it interesting how a man as well off as you are ended up becoming Raven’s chauffeur. A coincidence maybe?”The detective stood from his chair, moving close to him—with a grin plastered on his face,”the most interesting part is that...you own the chauffeuring firm...”PASTCarter.His name hadn’t crossed her mind in a while, she was jogging along the street with her hair packed up in a pony tail. It was ten o’clock in the morning, the whole land

Day fifteenIt was her fifteenth day in the past. How she’d known? She wasn’t exactly good at keeping up with dates and time. There was a number eleven inscribed on her palm, it wasn’t an obvious place—only an observant person would notice. The number changed daily, reminding Raven of the limited time she had.“Roberto Sánchez is the hottest man alive!” Tessa exclaimed in a Spanish accent. Snapping out of her thoughts, Raven crossed her long legs. The girls were currently watching a movie in perfect rapture, Roselyn was also with them, but she was unusually quiet.“But he’s aging—compared to when he acted as Jack in Forever 20,” Louis remarked.“Back then...I thought he was gonna be 20 forever,” Tessa said and they all laugh in unison, resting her head on her palm, she went on. “I wish wonderland actually exists.”Fascinated, Raven chortled. She recalled the first time she met Roberto—of course she had met him, it was on the red carpet, he even tried to get it on with her a few times.

Chapter Seventeen
“If my sisters ever ask. We accidentally ran into Roberto Sánchez in college, and he flirted with me.Eleanor raised her eyebrows, “why the big lie?” She chuckled.“It’s not exactly a lie, I did meet him. Just without you there.” “Maybe I can believe the part about flirting with you. Why wouldn’t he? Just look at you.” Eleanor’s gaze still fixed on her. “But meeting him in person! In the flesh! And you didn’t say a word about it!”Rolling her eyes, Raven gave a small smile. It was the same way fans were crazy about her, she never understood the worship. Celebrities were just normal people with more privilege and screen time. “I guess it slipped my mind,” she said casually. Eleanor clasped a hand over her mouth. Baffled, placing her hand hand, she uttered her next words. “But Raven he’s—““Pretend I never mentioned him.” She revoked, hoping her words came out right. Taking a quick pause, she continued. “Thanks for being here.”Eleanor opened her mouth, as though she was about to say

Fame was a double edged sword, it opened a lot of doors for Raven.  It all felt like a movie—unreal. She remained on the same spot, right with her whirling mind. Unable to move. “Are you okay?” Words making her shiver in an instant, her gaze met with its h
