Lisa lowered her head as tears welled up in her eyes. She didn't want to show them her tears. It took her whole to send the tears back. Carl Black clenched his fist tightly under the table noticing Mack Black act restlessly. He felt a twinge in his heart seeing how rudely his brother was treating Lisa. He stole a glance at her and said, "Finish the food fast. It's getting cold." Lisa nodded feebly and tried to eat. But after taking two bites she couldn't eat anymore. She felt so sore in her throat while swallowing the food. She tried to stay calm and not to cry but her eyes burned as fresh tears began to accumulate in her eyes. She only poked the food with the fork. When Helen Black saw her not eating, she asked worriedly, "Why are you not eating? Do you still feel uncomfortable?"

Few more days passed. Lisa recovered from the fever and started going to her work. During these days she hardly encountered Carl Black, despite living in the same house. Whenever they crossed their path they just looked at each other for a few moments and went back to their respective work without a word. Such a life was suffocating.  Lisa wanted to clear the misunderstanding but whenever she encountered him, she couldn't invoke her courage to speak after seeing his cold dark eyes.
