Escape from the Clutches of Death
“Ellie, get up!” yelled James, shaking me hard. I found myself lying in James' car which was stationary, as my eyes fluttered open. Utterly confused, I peeped out of the window to find dad and Jared standing on the roadside as a mechanic replaced the car's tyre. “Where are we, and what happened?” I muttered, my head aching terribly.  “We are at Tottenham Court Road, you lunatic. The front tyre got punctured while you were luxuriously dozing off, perhaps dreaming about your boyfriend Matt,” James teased, sniggering loudly. Waving aside his playfulness, I placed my hand on my fore

Mystery of the Gruesome Murders
I was an insomniac that entire night after Matt dropped me home. My heart had been bulging with a mixture of gargantuan rage, revulsion, and shock, at Emily's despicably murderous acts. No matter how sulky, bad-tempered, and saucy she was, I never in my wildest dreams could have imagined that she would go to such an extent to take revenge. I was boiling with fury, still in disbelief that someone whom I knew, let it be an aggressive competitor, could stoop so low for a petty reason.  However, some part of me also felt pleasantly bewildered at the magical appearance of that angelic lady who saved my life. Was she an angel of God? Or could it be only a figment of my imagination in that

The Convict
“What did they want from you?” demanded dad, sitting on his rocking chair and smoking his cigar. Mum appeared extremely worried too and had not eaten anything since morning. “Nothing much dad,” I replied casually, moving towards the dining table and grabbing an apple, I hadn't eaten anything too since those officers had taken me and thus, was extremely famished. “I knew Emily Billings, she was in History class so it was just an ordinary inquiry, other students were taken too,” I lied fervently, avoiding the possibility of an extended curfew and enhanced fear and trepidation amongst mum and dad. “Edward, we should change her school, its affecting her academics plus the association w

The Training of a Lifetime
Holden's dramatic transformation and change in lifestyle seemed to have been the astounding result of a lottery of twenty thousand pounds that he had won a nearly a month ago, which he deserved, I believed, considering how he had sagaciously unlocked my psychic abilities and telepathic powers, and the potential peril in which he had placed himself during the process.  He led me inside the small room behind the counter, where my powers had been revealed to me. The room looked the same, except that a new set of couches had been placed there and instead of the tiny green bulb on the wall, a small but glowing chandelier hung from the ceiling right at the centre. He offered me a large mug of the finest French Vanilla coffee that I had ever tasted, as I gave him a detai

Ellie Transformed
A splash of water fell on my face as I jerked up instantly, with Holden towering above me, holding the bottle of water that I had moved, with a mean and furious expression on his face.  “Get onto your feet!” he bellowed angrily like a beast. “And get the hell out of here! You are not fit to be trained by me. It was a grave mistake agreeing to help you. If anything had happened to you, it would have been on my head and conscience,” saying this, he yanked me up onto my feet mercilessly and pushed me towards the elevator. “If you ever show me your face again, I will become a killer like Matt,”

Getting Battle-Ready
The second phase of my training turned out to be excessively intense and adrenaline rushing, as Holden had planned a three-hour session for me. As I stepped out of the elevator into the training arena, I discovered him standing upright with his chest thrown, fully dressed as a British soldier, wearing a khaki uniform with a bullet-proof waistcoat over it and a matching pair of heavy combat boots. Holden's new look surprised me pleasantly as I marched towards him, with my hand in a salute and he nodded approvingly. “Miss Ellie,” muttered Holden, removing a bullet-proof vest from a bag he held in his hand and handing it to me. “You are going to wear this bullet-proof vest during the entire session today,”

Infiltrating the Headquarters of LPCI
Darkness conquered the sky before the break of dawn as I stepped out of the minicab outside ‘Drake's Bar' which had its doors closed as usual then. I paid the cab driver and placed the change in my clutch bag when I felt some eerie presence around me.  My eyes circled, discovering the street to be empty, however, my intuition raised an odd alarm that I was being watched by a pair of eyes, which monitored my every moment around the place.  Chucking fear aside, I walked over towards the lane and entered the tunnel by placing my hand on the camouflaged panel. Scanning my fingerprints and eyes across the scanner besi

The Trial
“Matt,” I cried, and gave him a tight hug while he still recovered from the pleasant shock of my presence in his highly secured underground cell.  “Ellie, how the hell did you break that glass? And how on earth were you able to sneak in here?” Matt blurted out insanely, touching me as though he couldn't believe I was a solid human. “I will explain everything later, I have very less time,” I asserted, releasing him. “First answer the question for which I have taken so much risk. Did you kill Emily and her boyfriend Broderick? Matt eyed me resentfully at my question and move

The Realm of Evil
The warmth of summer drifted into my life with the arrival of May. Carrying along with it immense hopes of a smoothly ordinary and peaceful life. Whether I admitted or not, I was frustratingly tired of how the events had turned out in my life since the time of my birthday. The transition from a teen to an adult had been so drastic mentally, that I desperately longed for the days when I had no care in the world other than school and exams. Meanwhile, the doors of Brent High opened again, even though the anonymous culprit hadn't landed in the clutches of the police. However, life seemed to turn no

The Final Trip
The despicable memory of the terror I witnessed in ‘The Tent of Wonders' remained etched to my brain for nearly three weeks, making me lose my appetite as well as sleep. Mum and dad along with my brothers started becoming worried about me, as I hardly ate anything much during dinner and remained awake at night like a zombie, staring outside the window. I couldn't manage to remove that repugnantly pathetic image of Madam Maxima lying in her chair, electrocuted. And whenever I closed my eyes her deathly face along with the figure of that evil creature hovered in front of my eyes. Some days I
