The ridiculous onslaught of rain went on for nearly three hours. When Kat and Brenden were finally comfortable enough to set out, they were worried about time. They had to check into the place they rented near Niagara Falls at six, though Tony reminded them that they could just call and say they'd be late. Reservations weren't typically canceled unless the guest was very late and was a "no-call-no-show".

  Tony slung Dillon's backpack over his shoulders despite the kid's protests that he could carry it. Anytime he could help with his considerable physical strength while Dillon healed up, he did. It was more for his own comfort, though he knew that Dillon still liked his independence. The backpack was heavy though, as they had packed it with waters and snacks along with their towels and other odds and ends. Tony didn't want Dillon to have to strain himself whatsoever to carry it when he himself was totally unscathed. The brat bitched about it for all of a minute as they made their way from the second pier waterpark to the third pier amusement park to start their coaster fun. By the blush and poorly concealed ghost of a smile he had, Dillon was touched.

  With their hysterical argument out of the way, Mr and Mrs. Vera got ready rather fast. By nine o'clock, they were piled into the Journey to fish for the morning from a large pier. If he went by what both Mr. Jack and Dillon said, it was one of the best places to fish. The water was considerably deep, but it was close enough to the shore to not need a boat. When they got there, they were elated to see that there was nobody there. Though they usually picked the pier in the middle, there was also a pier a few hundred yards away to the left, and another the same distance to the right. Sometimes they'd switch piers if they didn't have any luck off the center pier for a while and bounce between the three.
