Part 30. The Wretched Engagement
The day she had been dreading the most dawned upon her. Talia, never in her wildest dream, imagined that she was letting it happen. Not doing anything to stop it. Then again, Ajaxson promised Lukas that it's nothing but a fake relationship, something to make their parents happy. Nothing else. She truly wanted to believe him.     Her sisters refused to leave her side, insisting on adorning her with all the jewels and bestowing with exquisite material for her gown. The moon princess accepted all of that with a fake curve of her lips. Artemis and Clio were the only people who understood her inner turmoil.   She had, however, tried to remain calm throughout everything, wearing her silver crystal crown -encircled with tiny strands of ivy and blooming flowers-on her head. It not only kept her long hair perfectly in place but made her lo

Part 31. The Dual
Talia dragged her feet towards the room, the hair on the back of her neck standing up. She tried to put on a brave face, fingers gripping the expensive material of her gown. The moon princess got steered into an empty room, heard the door shut, and the lock click only a few seconds after she entered it.      There's a chandelier on the ceiling right in the centre; the walls adorned with landscape paintings in muddy colours. A plush velvet carpet covered the entire floor. In the middle, there's a round table out of polished wood, two leather armchairs standing on opposite ends. A silver tray sat on top of it, filled with crystal glasses and a carafe filled with amber liquid.     She got into one of the legs, legs so stiff they barely supported her weight, fin

Part 32. The Death
Once they stepped out, she noticed that the path to hallways was cleared. Not a single guard in sight. What did her father do? Her eyes automatically shifted to Lukas, who had the same confusion etched all over his features. A sigh escaped her lips.      She prayed that the win would be in their favour so she could finally have Lukas by her side. It's a long time coming. Talia chewed on her lips, standing in front of another oak door which led to the patio. The moon princess stood, cringing as her sister pushed the door open.     Ajaxson and his family were waiting on one side, eagerly anticipating the bloodshed and violence. A huge circle was created to separate the two of the families. On the other side, Zeus stood with his wife alone, lips pursed in a line. She assumed that everyone might

Part 33. The Promise
/Lukas POV/  The walk from the centre along the east shore was pleasant, a soft breeze cooling his forehead, ground still hard and split beneath his feet. A sigh escaped his lips.     It's been a week since that incident. Since he lost the love of his life, he cradled her dead body in his arms while begging Death to let her go. Of course, the price wasn’t easy. The Sun Prince should have known when he agreed to follow through with his promise.     Not a Prince anymore. He darkly chuckled at the bitter reminder. When Lukas agreed along with Death’s promise, he didn’t realise that leaving his family was a necessity. Anyway, Death at least managed to get a pledge from Zeus that he won’t kill Lukas family or anyone el

Part 34. Talia learns her story
Everything stilled around Talia. The young woman closed the book as she repeated those final words. There's wasn't even a fraction of her brain that could process anything but an overwhelming itch that had got a hold on her entire body. Her hands twitched helplessly by her side, the urge to throw herself in Lukas arms intensifying.         Her chest felt strange, uncomfortable sensations filling it up and – and throbbing in her ears, alongside an accumulation of horrid sounds that made her head hurt. Sounds and voices she couldn't place, words she could not understand, were swirling in her mind all at once. It's like somebody had taken her apart, put all the pieces into a box. To rearrange for herself, and she had no idea where to begin.           The sound of the clock ticking made her hyper-aware of the reality that she's in Olympus. Her nails dug in

Part 35. Lukas POV
/Lukas POV/   The demons gaze flickered down his badly beaten up body. Wincing when he noticed that Dean's jacket did an excellent job of hiding a lot of it, but the skin of his bare chest and arms were still red and blotchy as if he'd inflicted burns on himself. Lukas was not sure how he overlooked that. He probably tried to quell all those memories of being tortured.     "We need to get you out of here as soon as possible," His loyal guard continued. "You're hurt."     "I don't care, I don't fucking care," The demon said, and he's starting to sound hysterical because none of them is bloody doing anything. "I need to find my pregnant mate! Don't you get it? Talia just disappeared. She was supposed to be in the Underworld.&r

Part 36. Ajaxson POV
/Ajaxson POV/  The sun was hanging low in the sky when Ajaxson woke up alone on the cold hardwood floor. His Palace was eerily quiet as he got up and massaged his temples against the dizziness that came over him.     The Greek God found his rumpled clothes in the main room and then ran to the bathroom to dry heave over the toilet.  Nothing came up but a trickle of bile that burned his throat. He felt clammy while his body shook, planting each step firmly before he trusted his body to hold him up. Maybe it’s time he stopped drinking pure alcohol for a kick.     After roaming the house once his stomach had accepted its state, he found the letters stacking up against the couch. Ajaxson didn’t have to open them to know that the

Part 37. The Reunion
/Talia's POV/  The moon princess wallowed in her room some more as Clio and Artemis left to their respective homes. Her sister, Clio, was now married to a King with two young children while Artemis still went on missions for her dear father. Nothing changed drastically. Only Hera was missing from the Castle.     Something the pregnant woman was very much happy about. Talia didn't want to stress even more than she already was.     The very next morning, the daughter of Zeus was joined by her sister and her husband at the beach just before noon. She didn't have much going on, so their presence served as a good distraction. Talia quietly listened to their peaceful chatter as they all decided to sit in the sand, toes curling in. In her bathi

Part 38. Lukas POV
/Lukas POV/  The King of Hell muttered a familiar verse under his breath before creating a portal to the Underworld. He was directed to Hades immediately as if his arrival was anticipated. Lukas kept a straight face, walking in the hallway, dimly lit by the fire torches before he was inside a room.     Hades was perched on a huge couch but what caught his sight was the Hellhound by his side. Fang. What was he doing there? Lukas brow shot up at the scene, mouth opening and closing. The creature let out a yawn and stretches languidly, blinking up at the Demon King with tired, accusing eyes.    "Don't look at me like that," Lukas let out a sigh, soaking up the comfort of the familiarity that came from talking to Fang. "Come on."

Part 39. Zeus learns the truth
Zeus was standing in the hallway. Of course, things couldn't go her way for once in life. The pregnant woman should have expected it to happen. Later than sooner. She immediately pulled herself away, jumping at the voice that boomed throughout the room.     "F-Father?!" Talia's voice was merely a whisper, air caught in her throat. She couldn't scream even if she wanted to, eyes wide as the moon princess noticed her father stalking towards them. He had a murderous glint in his eyes; hands curled into fists.      "How dare you show your face again?" The echo of his voice made the hair on the back of her neck stand. She clutched the sleeves of Lukas shirt, breathing coming out in short gasps. Her mate patted the back of her hand.
