Chapter 51 - Newcomers and a plan
Alice's POV -  I watched in amusement, as Katherine and the new fellow familiarized with each other, sniffing, and touching. Katherine had waited a long time for her mate, and it was worth it.The entire pack was distracted by their bonding, and even a few survivor women were smiling."Well, that's quite interesting." I laughed."Not as interesting as our first meeting," Lucian quipped. And I blushed at the memory of myself running away from him."Alpha, please, can he stay with me?" Katherine begged."Sure, Katherine, he is your mate," Lucian replied smiling.I looked at the wide-eyed little girl hiding behind Dallas."Hello dear, what is your name?" I asked her.She yelped and hid fearfully behind his legs."It's ok, sweetheart, we will be safe here. You just got yourself a new aunt." Dallas said, picking her up in his arms."I am Alice, Luna of the Crimson Shadow pack. You are all welcome to stay here. I am sorry

Chapter 52 - The impending danger
"Regina was alive but left powerless by your mother," Aunt Flora said after I explained everything to her.I had managed to convince Lucian to let me visit the Jade moon pack. Aunt Flora was fickle, it was difficult to have a conversation with her on the phone.Lucian finally relented, though he would not let me go out of his sight; hence he tagged along. Leaving Damon as in charge, we left with Savannah and a few other betas.Lucian had to discuss the rogues and the witch issue with Rick. So, the trip to the Jade moon turned out to be favourable. I found aunt Flora in the nursery, babysitting Clara and Johnathan, Rick's twins. The kids were busy, playing with the building blocks."I am sorry I don't understand, aunty." "Your mother was a true born, which, Regina wasn't. There are two kinds of witches, one who is born with some magical ability, like mind reading, conjuring, ability to talk to spirits. Others do not have any special abilities, but they can create

Chapter 53 - Catching the rogues
Lucian got a call from Daniel, Alpha of the red pack, early one morning. They had a rogue attack. The rogues had advanced weapons which had hit some of their highest ranking Betas. Bullets don't work on werewolves unless they were silver. Such bullets were expensive and hard to obtain. The rogues used normal bullets laced with poison. The wolves suffered hours of agony as the poison spread in their bloodstream. They were able to control its spread, but it could be deadly if given in significant quantity."Could it be the same poison which was used on your mom ?" I asked Lucian, stunned.I didn't realize how much Regina could have been helping them. It was hard to process."It's possible, though we'll have to test those poisons and prepare an antidote if possible," Lucian told me.I paced inside our bedroom, while Lucian sat on the bed staring out over the forest."Aunt Flora, she can help, ask Daniel to send us the blood samples and any stray bullets," I asked Luci

Chapter 54 - Encounter
Lucian's POV -  "Follow the rogues when they reach the back alley," I commanded into the radio and then waited.I heard Rick reply with affirmative. We were near a seedy club. It was frequented by some rogues. I had not brought any of my betas with me. Neither did Rick. Daniel had his reinforcements waiting, a few streets away. We were here to just observe. I had a feeling that the rogues were getting tipped off by some mole. It could have been anyone from any of the packs. I did not rule out the involvement of some Alphas too. Hence, to keep things discreet, we decided to keep it an Alpha only operation. So, here I was with Rick and Daniel waiting."They are out," Daniel whispered. We waited in the van and watched the rogue head off, a few minutes later. We had masked our scents.Rick made his way out of the club, following our man.We continued to follow him. He went to a junkyard a couple of blocks away.We parked the v

Chapter 55 - Hope
Alice - "And then they lived happily ever after....." I closed the book and smiled at a very sleepy Namara. I had volunteered to babysit her and give some spare time to Katherine and Dallas. They had become something of adoptive parents for Namara. She was a sweet girl. Despite the tragedy, she had retained her spunk. Spending time with her was delightful. I laid her sleeping form on the bed and tiptoed out of her room. Lucian was away because of this rogue business, and no one knew where he was, or when he would be returning.I laid down on my bed, contemplating calling him. He had closed off our mind link, I couldn't sense him.I had dozed off when I was woken up by a low pain in my chest. I woke up sweating, something was wrong, Lana was howling, and I felt this weird emptiness in my heart. "Lucian!" I said aloud to the empty room, he was not well, I could sense it. I was unable to reach him through the mind link. Restless, I w

Chapter 56 - Recovery
Lucian was all right, and that's all that mattered. I flung my arms around him."I thought you would leave me," I said softly through my tears. "It would have killed me.""No, I wasn't leaving you, Alice. I swear. I went there to protect you. Why would I leave you? I was in and out of consciousness. But I heard you. I heard everything you said." He caressed my hair."Promise me you will never go on such unplanned missions, and you will never shut me off, I want to be connected with you all the time," I said."I promise," he said, tucking a strand of my hair behind my ear."Now, do I get my kiss? " He grinned."No, I am still mad at you!" I retorted. We sat quietly together, while Lucian was being examined by the healers. Once his wolf connected with him. His healing was accelerated, those ugly bruises and scratches disappeared like magic. The pack was already aware of his recovery, and slowly they were arriving to see him.The first ones were his betas and

Chapter 57 - Celebration
Impromptu pack parties are the easiest to organize. All we need is good weather, preferably a full moon night. Some drinks and firewood. The prey is hunted and cooked right there. There is no need to dress up in something special. Heck, there is no need to dress up at all, it gets ripped off later anyway. The party can go as wild as a pack orgy, or just remain a family barbecue. It was totally up to the people participating in it. The pack run and the hunt are almost always included.I met a very exasperated Katherine, in the corridor while the pack members were rushing out to the grounds at about 8 in the evening."Alice, I can't deal with those new girls, they are refusing to leave for the party." She huffed."Why?" Some girls from Adam's pack had chosen to stay as their families wouldn't accept them, even though Rick was fine to take them in. We didn't force them to go back. If they felt comfortable here, they were most welcome to stay."They are saying they

Chapter 58 - The mating barbecue
I wasn't jealous of Savannah, I just wanted her to not remain lonely. Though I am no one to judge, perhaps she was perfectly happy in her current lifestyle, like I was before meeting Lucian. However, getting a mate might change her perspective, as it did for me."Alright Ladies, we will be staying at Jade moon pack for two days and meet the unmated wolves from the other packs. By Luna's blessing, you all will find your mates.  Even if you fail to find your mates, don't be disheartened. Just enjoy yourself."I addressed the crowd of about 50 single girls and women who would be going to the Jade moon pack for the mating barbecue, dance, and picnic. The unmated wolves from about 10 different packs were going to assemble in my brother's territory. It would be a big hassle accommodating and organizing everything for such a giant party. I was glad I wasn't the one organizing it. They giggled and laughed about finding their mates, and I smiled at them. "And you have not

Chapter 59 - Betrayal and danger
I woke up lying on a hard floor. I heard water dripping from somewhere, the air smelled damp, and my head throbbed badly. I tried to get up, but the sharp pain made my head swim and I fell back on the floor. Surprisingly, I wasn't tied up.  I looked around but couldn't see much of anything, so I mustered up the courage to slowly stand up. Chains jingled in my feet as I moved them. My short-lived happiness of being untied died immediately, I was chained. My eyes had adjusted to the darkness, and I concluded I was in a cave.'Lucian' I called into the mental link.No response.I was either too far away from him or he had closed the mental link, which was impossible. It meant I was too far away from him. I pulled at the chains, it didn't budge as expected. I wrapped my arms around myself. It was a trap. It was all a trap. Regina didn't die that day. Now, she had me and Clara. I heard approaching footsteps, and instinctively knew who they belonged to."Savannah," I said

Chapter 60 - The cave of despair
Alice's POV -  "That's ridiculous!" I snapped at him. These two were being conned by Regina, they were blinded by their ambitions to see through it."How can you even trust this woman? She might be taking you both for a ride!" "It is possible, isn't it?" He asked gruffly to Regina. She trembled a little, "of course! You saw my poison worked isn't it?""It better do. I am paying a lot for this bitch!" While they argued, I had figured out their whole plan. Regina wanted my blood for whatever spells she had been making, Savannah wanted to get rid of me to get my mate, and this Alpha wolf wanted me for his mate because of my healing power. They got together and planned the trap, Regina started by luring rogue wolves from different packs to do her bidding. Then got interested in Alphas who wanted to steal me as their mate as her financiers. After losing Adam, this was her second financier."Hey if you are done argui
