PART TWO Eleven (months later)
Returning back to Northshore made me think of the last conversation I had with my husband. Tingles break out on my skin and they were not the good kind. I was going to face Arius and try my best not to sink a dagger in his eyes when he looks at me and pretend like everything was alright in our world when it is clear that it wasn’t. “My Queen.” Soren’s horse came to canter beside mine as he smiled at me. “Hello Sorens, how many miles remaining before we get to Northshore? We are not following the usual road that leads there so I cannot tell.” I asked, I had being riding with them non-stop for days as we hurried to get back into Northshore. I might be one of them now but I could still feel fatigue. The major reason why I was doing this was so that my legion could return home to their wives and children not because I was in a hurry to return to my ungrateful husband even though he had requested for that.

My head pounding was the thing that disturbed me from my sleep, I struggled to open my eyes and when I did, it was go see a council member face close to mine. The man with Themis hair color eyes widened when he saw my eyes was opened and he scrambled away from me. “Your majesty, her eyes are opened.” He rushed out and within second, his face was replaced with a younger looking face, a shock of black hair that looked like it was painted and if I ran my fingers through it, my hand will come out stained with some of the ink. A well-defined face with enchanting eyes that could leave even the most serious woman who was immune to men, speechless when they rest on the woman. In other words, My husband was leaning over me, with worry in his eyes, worry mostly false and as much as I would hate to prove him wrong that nothing was wrong with me, I couldn’t because my head was like a war drum. When I groaned, His attention cut

I knew better than to wish things would be better, that was just wishful thinking on my part. Wishful thinking because, not only did the side comments begin the minute I sat with them for breakfast that day but because they went ahead and brought Faye to have breakfast with us like she was someone of the same rank. It made me angry but I reined it in and never stopped smiling. Or at least I didn’t until they opened their mouth. “Gwenn, when you left and came back, I thought it would be with a better disposition, I mean. You didn’t say anything to Faye even though she is right opposite you on the table.” Catia said with a smile, the brothers were there watching to see how this would go down. I have learnt earlier on to not bank on any of them to correct their sisters. Their sisters are pet to them and they might not approve of their sisters ways of doing things but they will never side an outsider over

AriusI threw Faye into my room as I shut the door behind me and leaned my face on it, trying to calm myself down. Faye just attacked my wife. I was restraining myself from hitting her. I had to keep reminding myself that I don’t hit women. “My King…” Faye started, her voice teary but I was already passed the stage of her tears moving me. “Tell me Faye, what were you thinking when you attackd Gwenn, she is a fighter and you are not. She was well within her right to kill you abd if you had hurt her, I was well withing my rights to have you banished or killed. What was goi9ng on in your mind?” I roared at her as she shrank back from me. “I am so sorry my king. It was never my intention to try and attack her but with her tone and the way she talked, I just lost control of my mind. She shouldn’t get to have you. she shouldn’t be with you my King. She is not worthy of being called yours.” Faye sobbed. “But she is and your actions were

Kastav“Prince Kastav, I am just a servant. I am not sure that I can help you.” Faye said biting her plump lip, everything the girl does was pure seduction whether she was aware or not. Catia rolled her eyes like she would soon get tired of Faye attitude. That was one of the things which my younger sisters lack, Patience but it was okay. As their elder brother, I was born with an abundance of it and I will use it to protect them. “You know that you are more than that.” I answered her with a smile. “You are a queen, a beautiful damsel. The only one who caught the attention of my brother truly because his wife is just a connection. That is why you are the only one who can help me.” “My Prince, I would really like to but I am not sure how…” Faye started but Catia rolled her eyes. “Listen, I didn’t invite you to seat with us at the table because I liked your face, it is a fine one but you are underestimating yourself. You had all my brothers enthra

What is it with people appearing in my back since I came here? Before I could turn to look at Arius, Sorens face had already turned ashen and he yanked his hand away from my shoulders like he has been burnt. I turned to face Arius only to see Faye behind him. Oh the hypocrite! I was fuming mad but I reined it in as I arched a cool eyebrow at him. “Punished, Why will Sorens be punished?” I asked him. “You know his name, he is a member of your legion, you should refer to him by his title and nothing else.” Arius raged. “It is my legion, you have no power over what I chose to refer to them as. Besides Sorens is different.” I answered with an absent smile on my face. “He is special.” “You ought not to do anything with him, it is against the laws and it is not right, you my queen should not touch any man…” Arius started with a list of rules which he has done practically everything on it just the opposite.

GwennI was like a child who has not seen her father in a while, the way I ran to the shelves holding whips and swords, I kept sampling, thanking Sorens a mile a minute not caring who saw me acting so undignified. I knew that a queen was not supposed to act this way but I couldn’t help myself. I get to have weapons once more, this time Northshore weapons that are very sharp and easy to maneuver. Dar was an empire that do not slack off when it comes to weapons of war and their soldiers but Northshore takes their army a lot more serious, they are enclosed from the outside world and barely face any threat. I really don’t understand why they go through all these. Unless they have something to hide.I shook my head to banish that thought, these are my people now, their secrets and weaknesses are mine and I am supposed to do everything possible to protect it. “What’s wrong?” Sorens laid a hand on my arm, he must have seen me shake my head.&n

AriusI cannot believe that Gwenn was that free with Sorens who is just her second in command and she didn’t even notice that he was looking at her like she hung the stars and moon. I was not okay with Sorens being close to Gwenn at all. I needed to talk to him about this little crush of his that he is nursing for my wife. My. Wife!Someone who will never be his, he knew of this fact before I sent him off with her. Was I wrong to tell him to keep a close look on her?And to think she slapped me because of him!I know that I was a little out of line but Gwenn always brings out that part in me, I was just stating my interest. I don’t want the whole of Northshore to doubt my son’s parentage. Gwenn will never win in a war against me and if it was a war that she was looking for, a war she will get. It was time I make good the terms she agreed to about making heirs. That will guarantee that she does not do anything with Sorens. I

GwennI came back to the palace to see Arius pacing round just outside the gate, I was not in the mood for whatever he wanted. “Husband alert. I heard you punched him when you came around the first time and this morning, you slapped him.” “Really? You heard already?” I cringed at what the people who had not seen me will think of me who always hit their king. “The news is everywhere, people are already thinking of you as a queen who does not take nonsense and that is a good thing in my book.” Sorian added. “This was not the impression I wanted to have…” I said but Sorian shook his head. “It should be, but can you try and do any of those things now, I want to tell people that I had a first-hand experience of seeing you put the king in his place.” Sorian said.“He is standing right in front of you.” Sorens tell his brother who raised an eyebrow at him?“So? Can you Gwenn?” He asked as Sorens inhaled a loud br

GwennI felt Sorens direct me to a seat to sit down, a seat which one of the council members provided, at least they were not all dense not to see how much this hurt. “I am sorry.” I said with a laugh as I looked around the room, this time, none of them were bold enough to meet my gaze. “I thought I heard something like, My husband already has a child on the way and this child is not mine.” When nobody could look at me, I finally looked at Arius direction. He couldn’t do this to me. I know we had our rough patches but among his deal with Themis, I remember Themis telling me distinctly that one of the terms was no extra family other than the one which I will provide him. This was still hard for me to swallow. “Arius tell them that the child is not yours or something. That was not part of our plans. It was not what we bargained.” I stated, looking at my husband. Arius flinched. “Gwenn…”“Look me in the eyes when you need to t
