Arius PovMy coronation was fixed to be two weeks from that day, that day, I lost my son and I spent the next one week hiding from everybody including the mother once I had comforted her for the first day. I was being a coward, I knew this but it was all too much for me and I didn’t want to be closed to anybody right then, I lost my father and my child within the space of ten days and I was expected to be a king and take up responsibility arising. I could cope with my father’s death but my son’s own threw me off, I was not expecting that or my reaction. My reaction which still surprises me since I never one day wanted the child but I still felt the loss. “You are ready for today?” Silana asked me from the tree top, I was not even shocked that she was there, I was starting to think that my sister was one of those weird creatures in existence. She had never failed to find me every day and sometim

GwennIt’s coronation day and I knew that I was supposed to feel happy at this but I wasn’t. Instead all I felt was calmness like something was coming and my mind was preparing me for it. “You look not so bad. Although I think the robes will be better if it covers your ugly mug of a face.” Themis teased. Her words forced a laughter out of me, I was not expecting her words but it was welcomed. She reminded me of the time where we would argue and insult each other. A war was looming then but we were happy and building our friendship. Now we had to grow up or rather, I had to grow up. Themis battle has passed and what is left is mine. “What if I fail?” I asked Themis, my tone low and my head down as if I was scared of his answer. “What if as a queen, I fail them Themis.” “Did I fail in my duty?” Themis asked and I glared at her. Why the question, was she not the one wh

After the coronation,  the celebration which I was hardly a part of because I was lost in my thoughts, I sat there and smiled so much my cheeks hurt but it didn’t change the fact that I knew or rather, felt that something was brewing and a storm was coming. “You seem distracted my love.” Arius kissed my hand as he removed his gaze from his people, some who were dancing, others eating, mingling with smiling faces. Not a lot of nobles were invited but the ones who were took most of the space in the room. “We might be Yama and Alal but it doesn’t change the fact that nothing has changed between us.” I returned to him absently, noting his sister. Silana looked positively happy, like she was the mother of the bride at the wedding or something while his youngest sister Eliana was smiles but reserved. She was the only one in his family I deemed as redeemable, the rest would learn after they had been punished one too many ti

Gwenn povThe speed which I used to get ready was something which I was not sure was humane therefore, letting Orel see it but he didn’t make a comment. Not like I would welcome it, I had to see Arius and that was the only thing that was in my mind. Along with other thoughts which just flashed through but did not take the whole of my attention. Thoughts like what might have happened to Gwenn, and why since she just chose to leave just the other night here. There was no reason for her death and it felt really strange. “Do you want to see where they dropped Gwenn first?” Orel asked me as I ushered the two of us out of my room quickly so I can lo k the door behind him. “No, I want to see my husband.” I replied and loved towards the throne room where Arius would be in and if he is not there then he would be in his office which was close to the throne room. As I made a move past Orel, Orel gripped my hand.

Arius povI didn’t understand the kind of news I have been getting since I woke up, or rather I had been awakened because of it. How could someone do that to Faye? I was still disoriented by the fact that someone could kill Faye, in my palace with blatant disregard for me. When Silana refused to allow me to see her corpse, I knew it was something worse off and to keep me from going behind her back to see Faye and convince myself that this is not real and that maybe just maybe they had the wrong person and Faye had already left early that morning to avoid the stares and side comments, Silana was with me. Babysitting me like I am younger than her and not her older brother. “Are you sure that it is Faye?” I asked Silana who was sitting beside me in the chair that was meant for Gwenn, the only reason why I allowed her to sit there was because I knew she was the only other person from Northshore who Gwenn will have not issues with.

Gwenn povMy eyes went soft as Arius words. “Arius.” His name escaped my lips in silent words and I stood up from my seat so I can go to his and hug him and this I did while I sat on his laps. “I cannot believe it.”  He breathed out as his hands ran through his face. “I am so sorry that something like that happened to her. This should not be, who is evil enough to do something this bad.” I griped. “Bad?” Arius asked me, leaning back into his seat as he looked at me. “Yes.” I nodded. “Bad is not enough to describe the action of this person…” I continued as Arius nodded. “I didn’t get enough time to see Faye’s body this morning, what was done to her?” “She was raped brutally and her skull bashed in…” I started only to freeze when I saw Arius face. He was getting d

Gwenn pov. “Why Gwenn, I would be a thousand times better than him for you.” Sorens tortured voice was the first thing that greeted me as I came into the empty courtyard which was void of every person except Sorens. The light spring which I was walking with turned to me dragging my feet, slow to approach Sorens who was sharpening his sword. Something which was already bloody sharp. It didn’t matter if I dragged my feet or not, Sorens knew it was me and although his head was still facing his sword, I knew he was very aware of every step I made. “I love you Gwenn with everything and he just decides to pay you attent…” Sorens started. “Enough Sorens.” I stated firmly while Sorens raised his head to look at me, his eyes were red and he looked exactly how his voice sounds. “Let’s stop this here.” I plead. “Feelings don’t work like th

“So you and Yama…” Sorens said as he sat beside me the next morning on the table. “I never expected to see it since it has not been long that you were hitting him on the face and he was giving other woman the heir to his throne. Those are things that you women don’t forgive easily. I think you forgive because you are a commander. Heavens know that female commanders are strange.” He concluded just around the same time I concluded that this was not Sorens. “Sorian, what do I owe this honor to?” I asked wryly. “I should be asking that question since I am the one who is gracing the table with the beautiful Alal of the Northshore Empire, you are looking really radiant, how many rounds?” Sorian returned. “I am wondering what your mother did to you and your mouth when you were younger.” I mused out loud as he started laughing, just as Arius entered with his brother.

Arius PovI was happy with Gwenn, deliriously so that I couldn’t help but feel guilt that I didn’t even mourn for Faye, neither did I feel for Sorens who was ahead of me in recognizing what a gem I have as a wife. I was still thankful that she was my l=wife when she met Sorens if not, he would have been the one being happy right now and I would be repeating the mistakes of my predecessors by having multiple women who would do nothing but poison each other and make my home a battlefield. One woman solved everything, I almost made that mistake with having two women but fate through a means I didn’t like, corrected my error and I don’t make the same mistake twice. And that is why the Mareikura in front of me needed to go. “Tell me, are you married?” I asked her as she brushed against me for the umpteenth time. “No, My Yama. My whole being is free to serve you in any means you require.&r

“What am I hearing?” I snapped as the man tried to stand, when I saw his face, I realized that he was Isolde’s father.“Yama…” He started crying as the people who were holding him, let go of him and with his loud sobbing as the only sound filling the room, he crawled to me.“My daughter. Gone.” He added. I raised my head to look at my queen who had tears in her eyes even though her expression was pinched as if she was angry. “What happened?” I asked the man who cried as he narrated everything to me, after he did, I was silent as my rage grew, this was getting out of hand and certainly a huge blow to the empire at large. A whole legion dying like that. “See to his needs.” Gwenn ordered and then she took my hand and led me to the throne where she forced me to sit down. Me sitting down just made it more pronounced, the weight on my shoulders.
