GwennAfter crying my eyes out, I laid my head on Sorens legs and slept while he kept watch. I was exhausted both physically and mentally. I wish that my dreams would take note of that fact but they didn’t, instead, all they did was to come up with a weird plain. The scene which took place in my dreams was modelled after the one that I saw when I was in my weird trance state, the ceremony and ritual for my ascension as a commander of the Northshore legion. The grassy plains, bathed with a golden light with no sun present, the grasses and scanty trees this time around were green and not the dried up, barely surviving plants I saw last time. “Hello?” I asked softly. “Who am I seeing this time?” “Hello?” I thought this time around I was truly alone until I heard a haunting melody, the woman in Gold came out from inside me and with a gasp, I was struggling to breathe when she held me in her arm and

AriusThe complaints started the next morning after that strange beam of light. I was in my hall when the first set troop in from the distant part of Northshore, they must have been on the road for at least a day and with the worry on their face, they certainly were not there to see their queen. “You need a woman with you when they get here. Faye is here and pregnant with your child if I should remind you, use her.” Kastav said but I glared at him. He betrayed me, he should have told me about Faye coming to meet him instead of telling the council and right now he was trying to push Faye in front of my people. That was not something which I would allow, not now, not ever.“No, I will not present my mistake in front of my people and parade it in front of my Bride, I will not give Gwenn that disrespect.”“You need a woman beside you.” Isolde answered and when I looked at her shock, she hurried and added to her statement. I thought i

Gwenn“My Queen, are you sure you should be here?” Sorens asked for the umpteenth time and this time, I actually felt a twinge of annoyance. “If you are feeling scared Sorens, you can turn back. You know that I would not stop you. I would not even mention it that my second in command is scared of a little light beam.” I teased Sorens who rolled his eyes at my words before he started to refute my claims.“I am not scared of where we are going to, I am concerned besides, I am sure that different people from parts of the empire will be coming, some to discuss about the weird light which could have been seen far and wide, others will come to congratulate the king and queen since it has not been long you came and if not that one, they want to see you so that they can fuel the gossips by saying that they have seen the foreigner Queen and in all these scenarios it would be wise if you were with the king when they come.” “They will soon be aware of the ki

GwennGetting to the palace, I was not in the mood be confronted by Faye but I didn’t have a choice because she was resting by the door and tapping her foot, when I drew closer, she straightened. “Well done queen Gwenn, what was that little stunt you pulled this morning, you think that the whole revolve around you and you can disappear when you chose to?” Faye demanded standing in front of me and preventing me from moving forward, Sorens eyebrow jumped at the audacity which she had to stop me from advancing forward with her blocking my way. Her hands were on her middle and it was just plain pathetic, I didn’t know how she was doing it, acting like the baby was already a bump when that place was still as flat as ever. I guess she wanted everybody to know of her status. “No, the world does not revolve around me, neither do the world nor me stand still because of you.” I answered her and just because she was drawing attention to her stomach, I made my eyes

Gwenn“My queen, are you okay?” Sorens asked as he laid me on my bed. “I will be fine, when is the afternoon meal?” I asked him and Sorens just looked at me confused before his eyes widened when he realized that I plan on going. “Tell me that you are not considering doing that…” He started but I just stared at him. “You are not fine, you know that you are not. Why will you punish yourself with this?” Sorens said as he paced my room. “You don’t need to be close to those people right now Gwenn, in case you were not aware of what they wanted to do, they wanted to kill you. I felt it in the air and you must have felt it too. Why on earth would you still want to be in their presence now?” He asked as I smiled. “Because it is my duty as queen, we have guests and I need to show my face. I will not let them spin outrageous stories about me to my first gro

AriusThe question was, will she? Will she come to my room and let me have my way with her. I know that it is wrong for me to do that but I needed to make her pregnant as soon as possible. Especially since she was leaving and I want to make her pregnant. If there should be anybody on the throne after me, it should be a child who I want there. I made a big mess of things and I did t know how to correct it. You think that you are correcting it by making new mistakes, mistakes she will never forgive you for?I shut down that thought as I wanted to sit up so I could reach for a drink beside of my bed but my door opened. I leaned back to see who would come through and it was my beautiful wife who wore a modest night cloth and a shawl to make it more modest for long walks. I watched as she closed the door behind her and removed the shawl and then she started undressing. I wanted her to stop but I didn’t say a word. We got to the Settlement which was one of the largest I have ever seen very quickly and instead of staying in a house provided for me, I optioned to staying with Sorens in his family home which was still there and his mother too. I didn’t know what I was expecting when he said I would see his mother but it was not a frail looking woman who looked like she was made of leaves and will be swept away by the wind if the air around her changed. “Mother.” Sorens hugged her tightly and I was tempted to yell at him not to break her but the woman smiled with tears in her eyes as she hugged him back. “My son.” She said as she placed a hand on his chest and he closed his eyes as if he was savoring her touch. When she removed her hand from his chest, she glanced at me and then at her son. “Who is this?” She asked. “The queen.” Sorens replied her and when she tried to bow, I stopped her. “You don’t have to do that

“My queen, is your second in command not joining us?” One of the nobles who gave his name as Anlow said, he was one of the leader of this settlement whose name I had learnt was Magelyn. Apparently that name has been one of the many things which its origin has been lost.I smiled as my heart gave a twinge at the hurt which Sorens must have been feeling but there was nothing I could do about it. It was better I did it this way than I keep on hurting him. “I am sorry but he won’t be able to make it, so please tell me, you said children has been disappearing, I want you to fill me in on what has been happening.“Of course.” The noble nodded. “It started about Five days ago, normally the wood around Magelyn are safe. They have always been. I played in them when I was young as did all of us here did.” Anlow gestured around the table at the rest of the nobles who nodded their agreement. “We don’t think of it when a child goes off to play in the woods

When the sun was high in the sky, we set out for the forest and while this was a new experience for me, I was the only one comfortable into going in the forest, although we were about ten who went and were armed up to our teeth. The rest wore a scared but brave look while Sorens body was filled with tension, than again he was not scared of the danger that lies ahead but rather, he was filled with tension because he wanted to protect me from it. At intervals, I got them to stop and place traps covered with some fallen leaves, some sharp and meant to injure while others were meant to just imprison and do nothing more. The forest was filled with tall trees that had broad leaves and had enough space between them that the forest didn’t look overcrowded or too scanty, I saw the charm in this place, a perfect place for playing with friends and a perfect place for children. I thought so until I reached the river. “This river flows through Magelyn too it c

Throughout the night and into the next morning, none of us slept a wink as we all kept watch. We have learnt our lesson and Anlow was muttering about this forest being out of reach for both children and adults, not like he didn’t believe my words that the Gurumapa was gone but because of the strange yowling we heard, like a cat was injured but from the strength of the yowls, it seemed like a giant cat. “It seems like we would have to check our traps before going home.” I said as the rest groaned, all they wanted was to get out of this place, a place that was home for them before but now has turned into a place where they never knew what was going to pop up. “My queen?” Sorens called. “My lady?” I corrected him and when he looked at me in surprise. I explained. “My queen has turned into your form of special name for me, people will notice. If you are not going to change calling me that then I want you not to hide while doing it too. I want you to c
