Cleopoda has stayed without wine preferring only to eat dried figs and fresh grapes. The Saade and his son-in-law had staggered back to their carriage and Saade Malek had immediately fallen asleep. Cleopoda pretended to sleep too because she could the calculating look that came into the eyes of Youzuf as soon as the Saade laid his head to sleep. She feigned a yawn and laid her head on the wooden wall of the carriage but she peeked from beneath her lashes at the drunk Youzuf

The preparation and treatment for her were to include milk and honey skin treatment and lessons of pleasure. With surprising steel determination, Cleopoda did everything possible to stop Adla from touching her which infuriated the woman. Of course, she could not report Cleopoda's disrespect to the Saade because turn she would have to confess her indecent actions on the girl in the first place. Everyone was quickly realizing that it was Cleopoda's words against theirs because of Saade's blind obsession with her. Even his daughter grudgingly stayed away from her and Youzuf kept a respectable distance away too. She wondered if the Saade had threatened the man. According to the information given to her by Ajun, a big fight within the important members of the house had occurred after her revelation of the Saade's daughter insincerity to her hu

Salvation came earlier than Cleopoda expected and in the most unexpected way. By the end of the second year, her routine was almost back to normal. Under the watchful eyes of a stationed guard, she was allowed to choose her clothes for the celebration. Lots of gold coins were spent in planning the huge party in favour of Saade Malek. Even his comrades came by to support him with animals for neat and wine and food and dried fruits. Everyone was busy and by the beginning of the third year Saade Malek was no longer know as a Saade but as an Inja, a close official for the king. Only members of the house of Saade Malek were allowed into the palace made of all that was precious to trade the arm of a Saade for that of an Inja. They traveled for days avoiding villages and countries in-between so their journey would be faster but it seemed to Cleopoda that they traveled for a whole week even though it was just a few days. She was so eager to get out of the carriage with her Uncle Angus, to have him take her back to the palace and convince father to accept her. On the night of their first day of journeying, he noticed the silver balls of gurop with a horrified expression. He had given her some fruits to eat and when she opened her mouth to eat from her apple the faint light of the lamp in the carriage reflected on them. "What is that?" He asked horrified afraid to think it was what he suspected. He had moved closer to her to examine her mouth but she refused to open her mouth. "Open your mouth Cleopoda let me see what is in it." Days after they left the Summer Palace to Camelorn the tension was still high in the atmosphere. The talk and fear of war increased drastically and words of it were whispered from soldier to soldier and servant to servant. Cleopoda remained in her room because Angus told her to. She knew he feared that if she ever ran into her father, Octavius in the halls he would send her back to the temple or someplace where he may never find her again. Father never visited her and neither did his new wife, Amelia and it hurt her but by now she was used to his lack of concern for her. She wanted nothing more than to see Mama Remin and Strukus, maybe even pay a visit to Zenas at the temple if he was still there but she was to remain within the walls of the room Angus had the servants prepare for her.
