Chapter Eleven
The sun had set as I rested at the edge of the bed. I had been patiently waiting for the sound of Cassius' door to open, so I could speak to him, but the hallway was dead silent. A rather loud knock on the door had me on my feet in a matter of second. I hurried across the cold floor towards the sound. “Cassius thank gods I've been-,&rdqu

Chapter Twelve
I scrunched my hand into my hair in frustration. Last night was possibly one of the worst nights I’ve had in a while. My entire body felt like it was on fire and the reminder of Cassius's pissed off look burned into my mind. The bags under my eyes showed the lack of sleep as I stood up on shaky legs and walked towards the bathroom.Maybe a shower would help.I pulled off my night clothes and turned on the water, running my hand under the pellets of water to heck the temperature. Once it was right, I walked into the shower and began washing off everything of last night. After I was finished, I hopped out while wrapping the towel tightly around me and strode into the room. The air instantly dropped ten degrees as the cool air hit my bare legs and arms, I made my way to the closet and rummaged through until I found something I could train in today.A knock on the door had me throwing the clothes on, and after I was decent, I shouted towards the

Raven’s POVThe plates full of food rested on the ottoman in between both chairs. Rhyland sat across from me, cutting up a steak as a full on laugh left his chest. The low rumble spreading throughout the room.“And the crazy part is that we never saw that guard again.”I chucked and picked up my silverware.“I’d have to say I wouldn’t want to show up either if they caught me trying on the Queen’s ball gowns.” I looked over at him to find his violet eyes already on me.Silence engulfed the room for a slight second before he picked up an entirely different subject.“How do you and Elijah know one another?” My eyebrow rose at his words as he cleared his throat and fidgeted in his seat. I debated on how I should answer, seeing as I can’t quite remember how I know him.“Well, it’s complicated actually. He’s an old friend from my homeland.” I put simply and smiled with satisfaction at my reply.“And where is your homeland?”

Chapter Fourteen
The sleep filled night I was anticipating for escaped me altogether. I sat awake on my bed, clasping the pillow into me as I looked out of the balcony doors. The morning sun was rising, vivid crimson and orange rays passed through my room and danced across my bedsheets. The maid had showed up and informed me that the Prince requested my presence on the training grounds, but I had ignored the request. For the past hour, I was contemplating on how I was supposed to get close to the Prince and finish the plan when Jasmine sat in the way.  If it were all about the plan, I would've gotten out of bed and went to train with the prince himself. I would've taken that opportunity to get to know him a bit more. But was it all about the plan? That… That was an excellent question. A question that I wasn’t sure I wanted to know the answer to. Last night when he came so close to kissing me I didn’t expect myself to want him to, I expected myself to coil

Rhyland’s POVBefore I could utter another word, Raven was pressing past me, headed straight for the door.“Raven, w-,” I reached my hand out to catch her wrist, but as soon as my palm brushed her skin I jerked backward. Her skin was blistering to the touch. I knew in my gut that her reaction to this wasn't just about Eladia. Eladia may have been a breaking point, but she wasn't the entire reason. She whirled her head around and a shimmer of silvery blue rimmed around her almost black colored eyes. My heart stuttered for a slender moment, but I tried to calm myself. Without uttering a word she turned back towards the hallway and made her way down it. Both Eladia and me followed quickly behind her.“Raven please it’s not that big of a deal, it was my fault really I-,”A hard gust of wind that flew past her face silenced her, taking her breath for a quick moment.Raven’s steps didn’t falter and the sheer confidence that radiat

Rhyland’s POV“What the hell, Raven?!”Her eyes snapped up to Cassius and for a split second, she looked completely lost.“I-, wait… How did I end up out here?” Her eyes fogged over with confusion before bolting open wide as a sharp intake of air entered her lungs.“Eladia! Wait, where’s Eladia?!” She shouted, looking around frantically. I took a small stepped towards her, but before I reached her, Cassius stepped in front of me and stopped me in my tracks. He look towards me with a tense jaw.“You’ve done enough. I think you should go.” His eyes were hardened when he looked at me and I could see pure hatred, for what reason I had no clue. He should be thanking me for stopping his sister before things really got out of hand. “Raven, how are you feeling?” I asked, and she just rubbed her temples while wincing.“I- I don’t feel right…” she said groggily, and that’s when Jasmine’s cries and shouts cut through th

Raven’s POVGroggily, I flipped around in bed, still not satisfied with the amount of sleep I had gotten. My body was achy and the need for a few more minutes of shut-eye was overpowering.“Want breakfast?”I nearly jumped out of bed completely at the sound of Cassius’ voice. The memory of him sleeping in my floor last night fogged over, and I had forgotten about it.Rubbing my eye with the back of my hand, I groaned.“That sounds amazing. I probably wouldn’t even use silverware I’m so hungry.” I murmured and at that same moment, my stomach made a rumbling noise that echoed through the big room. He barked a laugh as he came up to me and ruffled my already messy hair.“You got it, I’ll be back in a few.”With those words, he slipped out of the room quietly and shut the door behind him. I took the time to pull my weak body out of bed despite my shaky limbs, to the bathroom for a quick shower and to brush my teeth. The water ru

Rhyland’s POV I stood in front of my father, the golden crown slightly tilted on his head as his full gray hair lifted it.“You think you’re smart, boy?” He growled and by the way, his eyes glossed and his cheeks burned red I could tell he had been drinking.“You’re drunk father, and I will not stand around and talk to a man that can’t even sit up straight.”“Shut it!” He growled, his voice booming through the room.I’ll admit, he had quite the nerve to yell at me in this state of mind.“What is it that you wish from me, or was my presence just for mere amusement.” I evened out and looked into his cold eyes that held the color of the ocean's depth in them."You, the only mind manipulater within millions of miles from this kingdom, thought I wouldn’t be able to tell from the gleam in Princess Jasmine’s eyes that you had a part in her

Raven's POV “Of course, it’ll take some convincing of the King, but I’d like to take the two of you back with me for only a short while and bring you back to your homeland. That’s if the two of you are up to it.” Her bright smile was so genuine, yet it made my stomach drop to the floor with anxiety. Go back to Zanatra? My eyes were wide, and I went to open my mouth, but Cassius quickly cut me off. “That would be amazing! But why would we have to convince the king of anything?” His voice couldn’t hide his pure excitement, and for a moment, I felt happy for him. But the thought of the blood that was shed on those lands many years ago still stuck to me. “Because no commoner has ever left his territory before, they’ve entered, but never exited.” I knew by the scowl on Cassius’ face who the voic
