Chapter 51: Secret Romance
Aurelius quickly grabbed Ruby's hand and dragged her away with him as the squad of ladies in high heels closed in on them. They ran through the hall where they came from with the ladies close on their tails. They were really hell-bent on getting to him even though it must be difficult considering the type of footwear they are running with which he is extremely thankful for. In a desperate attempt to lose them Ruby pulled Aurelius to a vacant room and slammed the door shut.   "Where are they?" they heard the leader ask from outside the door.  "They could only head that way. Let's get them!" The two listened to the clacking high heels of the women who ran wildly outside the room. After a minute of waiting, they finally heard silence. They waited for another minute to pass, breathing deeply in exhaustion. Their eyes suddenly met and they couldn't help but chuckle due to their sudden hilarious escapade.

Chapter 52: Date
Aurelius sat on his elaborate chair gazing out into the beautiful garden. A chessboard was spread on the table in front of him where the black pieces are on his side while a set of red pieces lie on the opposite. A sour look decorated his face as he brood over the events that had occurred.      "'Battle Royale: Lady Ruby Edelweiss of House Pendragon apologized for acting violently as a response for mistakenly assuming that Marcel, an actor at the Opera, was disrespecting her fiancée Lady Carmilla Karstein when she found her passed out in his arms. She initially thought that her bride-to-be was being harassed when in truth Marcel was merely assisting her because of her anemic attack. Lady Ruby already apologized to the actor as well as thanked him for his assistance.'" Sylvia read out as she entered the room.      "The lies she has woven. I'm completely annoyed but I can't help but applaud her devotion. Mor

Chapter 53: All In
A sigh escaped his lips as he fondly reminisced the fierce spark that ignited within her viridian eyes. The memory sent shivers down his spine due to how penetrating her gaze was.      "So you didn't even get to the second course before you were rejected. Are you sure you should be barking at this tree? I mean there are certainly other women in the empire who are quite similar to her." Sylvia asked, raising a brow at him.      "There are no other women quite like her. What occurred made me more drawn to her. She's not someone who would allow herself to be played with. She would fight back with ten times the tenacity and unleash holy hell into her enemies. It's excellent because I don't want Cinderellas and Snow Whites. She's the little red riding hood and the wolf combined. Beautiful yet cunning."     "Oh, brother. You are enchanted. I should inform you that pain and sorro

Carmilla paced in her room collecting clothes and grabbing money and jewelry she could fit inside her bag. She would run away with Marcel and start a new life with him even if they have to be poor as long as they're together she'll be content and happy. Marcel already agreed and said that they should make their move tonight since it's her last day in the empire.  She's been fuming and crying ever since Ruby told her the truth. She couldn't bear to bow down to her father's whims and be a tool for his power game. No. She will follow her heart even if she has to leave everything behind. Even Ruby.  She paused sitting on her bed before sighing. She removed the locket hanging from her neck and opened it to reveal a photo of her and Ruby smiling brightly from ear to ear. They looked so happy and carefree as if the world was a perfect place with nothing but fantasies for their innocent hearts. She just wished that things could go back to how simple they were.

Chapter 55: Imprisoned in a Tower
Days passed by as uneventfully as the falling leaves of autumn. She spent her time in solitude like the classical princess trapped in the dragon's tower. It was torturously quiet and the isolation was asphyxiating. Time seemed to have stood still in her large empty room while the outside world continued with its life without her. The only view she had of the outside world was her narrow window sealed by iron bars. The only people she's spoken to so far are her maids who would bring her meals and prepare her baths. Her only measures to pass the time and not lose her mind are reading books and singing songs Marcel had written for her. She can only reminisce by her window her happy times with her beloved while whispering promises she didn't get to keep.      Today, however, was a bit different.      "Ruby?" she said in astonishment due to the girl's unexpected visit. Tiredness was clearly visible on

His cheeks still sting a bit due to the punches and kicks Varsil Karstein's soldiers did on him. He was thoroughly beaten and bruised after their attack yet he did not retaliate even though he wanted to tear them down to shreds.  He caressed the image of his beloved with his thumb and grieved for their unfortunate love. He feels terribly lonely and despondent to leave her behind and it was worse than the pain he felt before he met her. Truth be told he does not want to abandon her however what sort of life can a blood demon like him provide for a girl like her. She deserves to be pampered among the lavish jewels and silk linens of her expensive family and not be chased down like a fugitive.  Perhaps leaving her was for the best. He's sure that

Chapter 58: Grieving
Pendragon Castle, Cadmure Ruby lay on her stomach, sulking in her bed filled with extra cushions that surrounded her like a fortress, scattered even to the floor along with empty bottles of wine and rolled up tissue paper. Her room is shrouded in darkness as thick curtains block the light from entering her room. Half-eaten cookies and other sweets litter her bed as she wept all alone in her misery. She moved her hand to wipe her tear-stained face, hearing the soft clinking of the charm bracelet Aurelius had given to her and sighed.  It had been a week ago since she received a letter from King Varsil Karstein saying that Carmilla is dead. She had slit her wrist and died of blood loss but now her corpse is missing. In his letter, Varsil stated that the maid who was assigned to clean Carmilla's pot that night found her cold lifeless body and screamed in horror before running away to inform him but when they reached her room her body was no

Chapter 59: House Tour
"So what agenda do you have up your sleeves now?" Ruby asked while she sat opposite of the prince under her limestone gazebo where flower-bearing vines crawl up the white columns. She picked at the various sweet snacks laid out in fancy plates, inspecting each and every one of them but only eating a few selected treats.    "Well, as an excuse to get out I told my father that I'm here for diplomatic reasons to learn your culture and political strategies since your mother's methods seem very effective and I want to be a better ruler when I ascend the throne but in truth, I only want to see you and cheer you up."   "Basically you're here to gather reconnaissance about how we operate and then plan a countermeasure for when we become a threat and take over our lands afterward. You're warming up to me to make me your bitch and marry me so that you'll be an official regent of all my inheritance." Ruby interpreted, stirring her coffee boredly.&

Chapter 60: Bonding?
"What is this thing and what are the tiny floating balls inside? It looks like mud water with floating goat manure." Ruby inquired after Aurelius handed her a big cup of something foreign to her.    "Ruby it's called milk tea or bubble tea, it's rather famous in the empire. The flavor is wintermellon and the floating things are called tapioca balls. It's delicious, you should try it." the prince suggested as he drank from his own drink.    Ruby was still skeptical about the drink but she tried it anyway.    "It has an odd taste at first but..." Ruby commented before taking another sip.    "It's surprisingly delicious and quite addictive. Rejoice prince of Neo Macedonia you actually did something good for once. You're not a complete and total shit after all. Just a huge chunk with a tiny sliver of usefulness." Ruby praised as she happily sipped her milktea.
