InfirmaryJazI was in shock. The words had escaped my lips before I had time to stop them. But I held his gaze because I could. Because it was my blood-right to do so.I took deep breaths, my heart hammering. How had he found me? “I like Jasmine. It suits you.” His tone was casual, almost conversational. As if he hadn’t just found the daughter he once thought dead. But this was also completely like the man I remembered. Cool. Casual. Collected. Void of feeling. He continued speaking. But the healers tell me you go by Jaz here? That has a nice ring to it.”“Please--&

Pack HousePerrinI had pushed myself harder today than I had the previous week, if that was even possible. I was exhausted and just grateful to have time to shower. The sauna at the lodge that had usually done wonders for my sore muscles just left me feeling dehydrated and even more tired.Seth had suggested a massage, but I wasn’t interested. I just wanted to sleep. I was excited at the prospect of Ethan rejoining the training, despite how behind he probably was and how easy he’d need to take it. I just needed to focus on that. On Ethan. Not Ethan and Lo. No Jaz. Just the Sacred Call.I dragged myself into my suite, feet heavy and legs sore. I had stopped by the kitchen on the way up and requested that Dina send food up to my room. I didn’t often request room serv

Pack house lobbyPerrinI had showered after the morning session at the Lodge and waited anxiously for Lo in the pack house lobby. I wasn’t used to pacing, but I had a small fear that she’d decide not to come. And I really wanted to apologize.“So, what was all the fuss about?”I turned, spotting her strolling away from the elevator doors. She was dressed in a dark grey t-shirt and white jeans. She looked chic and casual, all at the same time. I wish Kira would take a leaf out of her book. No Luna should be caught with ripped black jeans and rock band t-shirts.“Thanks for meeting me.” I let out a deep breath. She opened her arms in a gesture that said &ldqu

LoI puckered my lips, finishing my lip gloss and took a step back from the mirror.“Not bad!” Kira whistled from the bed.“Thanks,” I said blushing. “Think he’ll like it?”Kira just laughed and hopped off the bed. “So, where are you meeting him?”“Henry’s Pierside,” I said, pulling out my phone and referring to Ethan’s last text.“They have great mimosas.” Kira said reflexively, “and great brunch, obviously.”“Alright, well I better get going!” I grabbed my clutch and headed for the door.“Hav

PerrinI didn’t sit in the front seat with Charlie very often, but I wanted to give Lo and Ethan the courtesy of pretending that they were alone in the car. I made small talk with him in the front as he drove us to the party--it was all I could do to keep from glancing in the rear-view mirror and seeing Ethan and Lo make eyes at each other.I was happy for them. I really was. And I didn’t need to convince myself of it either. So I chatted happily with Charlie as we would our way through the east side of town to Toby’s house.“Will you be needing a ride back, Perrin?” He asked as he drove up the small street. Cars were everywhere, and that wasn’t a good sign, especially if alcohol wasn’t involved.“Yes, if you wouldn’t mind and my father do
