Chapter 61
Alexander   As soon as I stepped foot out of the great hall, the sounds of people having fun echoing down the halls behind me, I could feel my body begin to shift. Hairs growing over every inch of my body, my bones cracking as I transformed from human to wolf. I could feel every second of the pain of transforming and I welcomed it as an old friend. The moment that the glass cut into my flesh as I fled from the castle and the hit of the icy cold wind as I ran. All of it was nothing in comparison to the pain that I felt in my heart. My wolf stopped atop the highest point of my lands and howled into the night. Not that anyone would have heard. The snow was coming down thickly and the wind silenced my howls as quickly as they were cried. The villagers were too busy feasting on the castle’s offerings and the nobles of the court were too busy dancing inside the castle. The only people out on a night like this were gua

Chapter 62
Rosalie   I didn’t sleep that night. Instead, I sit surrounded by Arthur’s family, a heaviness in my heart and worry in my soul as I prayed to the goddess for Alexander to return. It would seem however that my prayers were to go unanswered, seeing as by the time the castle servants were waking, neither Alexander nor Arthur had returned to the Castle. Worry was churning in my gut. I had no idea where he was, or what he could be doing. And guilt overtook me to the point I couldn’t breathe. I had done this. Me. Because I didn’t trust that my mate would understand, and now it had all gone wrong. Last night should have been the happiest day of my life. Alexander had finally admitted his feelings for me, and instead of rejoicing in a bubble of bliss, I was now wallowing in the pain that I had caused my mate. Despite Louisa’s words last night, I couldn’t help but spite Estelle’s vengeful interfer

Chapter 63
Nina was right, the ride across the snowy fields was both bumpy and cold. The wind hit my face like shards of ice slicing through my skin. My eyes watered making it difficult to see. It was no use trying to make sense of where they were taking me, so, I simply just hold onto Silas tighter and close my eyes waiting for us to reach whatever it was that Alex wanted to show me. When the great wolf finally did begin to slow, the snow was coming down thickly, making it difficult to see past the end of my nose. Any trace of paw prints were already covered back over as soon as he lifted his foot from the ground.   Through the falling snowflakes, there was an outline of a small brick cottage with a thatched roof. Around the perimeters of the little cottage was a low wooden rail fence, inside were remnants of an overgrown, but once very much-loved garden, with a small plot of vegetables. In the small windows were lacey net curtains and a solid wooden door sat prid

Chapter 64
Alexander continued his trail of kisses down my neck and over my shoulder, stopping at the peak of my breast. He drew my hard nipple into his mouth and sucked gently, sending waves of pleasure through my body. His tongue flicked and rolled the taut nub, almost sending me crashing over the edge of another orgasm as he does so. “Please Alex, I need you.” I cry out, trying to hold back the mounting orgasm that was building in my core. I try to pull his muscular body towards me in the hopes that he would get the idea of what I wanted, but I was met with resistance and a chuckle, his torturous hand slowly trailing down my stomach and over the mound of pubic hair before stopping at the entrance to my pleasure. With slow movements he presses a long finger into my wet hole, a moan escaping as he did. This is what I have been missing, feeling him inside me. And although it still wasn’t completely satisfactory, it was a by far better than my own

Chapter 65
I woke up to a thin jet of light streaming though the bedroom window the next morning. Moaning at the unwelcome intrusion, I roll over, my arm draped over the considerably bulky form of Alexander lying next to me. “Good morning little mate.” His sleepy voice came from beside me. Still too asleep to form words, I simply grunt a morning and close my eyes once more. But any hope of returning to the land of sleep was destroyed when moments later, my stomach rolled uncomfortably in my gut, and a burning sensation rising up my throat. Opening my eyes in alarm, I scramble from the bed, tripping over Alexander and the sheets as I try to make my way to the chamber pot. I just made it in time, before the contents of my stomach emptied itself from everything that I had eaten the day before. Alexander quietly comes up behind me, gently rubbing my back as I heave. As the bout of sickness began to ease, I sit back awa

Chapter 66
The morning passed in a flurry of laughter. The lake was beautiful, like almost everything in this rugged terrain. The horizon was completely unmarred by humans. All my eyes could see, was mile after mile of beautiful woodlands and heathland, stretching in every direction, all culminating in the centre of a vast expanse of water. The ice was thick over the top ensuring that we were safe enough to walk across it without worrying about breaking through and plunging into the freezing depths. Alexander had been right, the area was sheltered from the worst of the winter weather, meaning that we could skate happily without the bitterness of the wind interfering. We spent a happy morning doing just that. And I was surprised more than once at how confident Alexander was on the ice. He skated with the elegance of someone who had been doing it all of their life. Unlike me, the Bambi in headlights as a hobbled and tripped over the

Chapter 67
Alexander I trekked across the snowy ground, my feet crunching with each step as I break through the icy crust that had formed over last night’s snow fall. A smile on my face at the morning that Rosalie and I had shared together. Having gathered as many logs as my arms could carry, I trek back towards the little cottage. As I drew nearer, a shiver ran down my spine. The forest around us was quiet. Too quiet. Not even the little robins could be heard playing around in the holly bushes and the trees above. Looking about myself checking for signs of danger. There were none to be found, and the only prints in the snow were of mine and Rosalie. Looking back towards the cottage I try to push the doubt into the back of my mind as I move forward once more. But the closer I came to the front door, the more the uneasy feeling of something not being right, roils in my stomach. I pushed the little gate open that sat atop the gard

Rosalie   “We need to leave… now.” Alexander strides towards me in three long steps, grabbing me by the upper arm and pulling me out of the doorway of the little cottage. “Alex, wait,” I cry out painfully, “Alex, stop you are hurting me.” This seemed to be enough to get him to stop and release me from his grip. “Where are we going to go?” “You’re going home. It’s not safe to be here anymore.” “Shouldn’t we lock the house up first? At least smother the fires?” I look about completely at a loss for what to say. The last day here had been so perfect, and now because of William, everything was ruined. “Leave them, the house will take care itself.” He once again began to lead me away from the little cottage. Having to more reason to try and delay, I simply look over my shoulder feeling slightly sad at the prospect of leaving the cosy home, and followed him down the snowy track. We seeme

Returning back to the cottage was no longer an option for Alexander. He has learnt his lesson the hard way. His uncle had rattled him, more than he would ever care to admit to me. William had proven that it didn’t matter where we were, he could reach us in ways that we least expected. If not us directly, then someone that we love. Next time, it wouldn’t be me being held by the sharp blade of a knife, it could be Lucille, or even Maddison. There was no telling who would be his next victim. What played on me the most was that this was now the second time that William had let us go without so much as a scratch. And somehow, I didn’t think that there would be a third. It was like he was a cat playing with a mouse that was caught in his thrall. He let us loose only to pull us back in when we got too comfortable. Either that, or this was his subtle warning that we should leave now whilst we still could. He had told me in so many words that he got no pleasure out of

After Arthur’s admissions it took Alex a long time to calm down. When we eventually made it back to our rooms, which were cheerless and cold when we arrived seeing as no one had expected our appearance so soon, rather than resting he spent the night pacing. He was determined to try and find a way out of the arrangement for Lucille. Try as I might to understand what the issue with the young Alpha was, he refused to tell me outright. Unlike the packs in England, the Welsh packs were run by one man, Alpha Byron. He then appointed Beta’s under his control who looked after the various communities. It was very much a case of feeling himself king of his own country. Hence why he refused to acknowledge Alexanders crown. If he did, he would have to bow down to him. The LLeuad Blaidd pack were notorious for changing sides, they played the field and declared their support to the side which they thought would win at the last minute. Then,
