Bridda was on the phone when I called out "Dinner is ready!"It took her a few minutes and by the time she sat down, her parents were almost done. "Is the food not good?" I asked Bridda as she was toying with her utensils. "Uhumm.. It is okay," father-in-law clears his throat and replies. This family never admits how good my cooking is."I think I lost my appettite." Bridda sighed. "If only we can get an invitation, Grandma will be very pleased. She had put me and Aaron in a contest so as determine the next CEO for the company. She plans to make an announcement on her birthday next Friday.   "So what do you need to do?" I asked her as I also took my seat and start to eat my dinner.Bridda was holding her fork but  it just went in circles around her bowl. "First the invitation. Chapter 22 - Thief
I woked up early enough to prepare breakfast so as not to repeat the same episode yesterday.  Just when the table was ready, Bridda comes out rushing."Have breakfast first. It's ready.""Thanks. I have to rush to the office. I just got a call from my secretary that an envelope from BossStudio arrived. Bye!"I busied myself tidying up the kitchen sink while the elderly couple ate in utter silence. Then they stood up, one going to her room and the other taking a seat on the couch and turning on the TV for some sports channel.I was not done with the dishes yet when my phone rang."Sir, your wife is a mess right now."It was a staff from McLain Perfumery, Robert, an insider trusted by the old man. "What happened?""She won't talk also." "OK, thank you for informing me. I will be there in a minute".....I was in Bridda's office in no time and was pointed by the staff to her office. I saw her

Chapter 23 - A Simple Solution
I felt heat rushing to my face and ears. Bridda must have been so happy to know there was a way in to the grand masquerade ball. I tried to get my phone from my pocket to call Borj that instant and also to cover up for such an awkward moment. "Yes Boss?!" The shrill voice at the other end was kind of loud I was afraid Bridda might have overheard. "What Boss? Borj, this is Resh! Why haven't you still saved my number?" "Oh oh, sorry. Wazzup Resh? " "Uhhmm... You mentioned your company is having a tie-up with BossStudio and that you were going to the grand masquerade ball and have an extra invitation." "Aren't you going?" He sounded puzzled. "I'm with Ms. Bridda right now," ...Yes, with a Ms., That's how I address my wife. "She lost her invitation. Maybe you can give to her your other invitation?" "Ahhh sure! Should I send it to her office?" "No..No...No.. She actually has an invitation but lost it in her office. It would

Chapter 24 - Mr. Amory Danovan
"Young Master..." Clyde's voice trailed off as someone seem to have taken the phone from him. "Resh." It was a  deep low and commanding voice. "Yes, Mister Danovan?" I asked my grandfather with all formality although I really hated talking to him. "Please come to the mansion." "Why is that?" "I have a car for you." "I don't need a car Grandpa!" I got irritated and tongue slipped. "I mean, Sir." "Clyde will be come to pick you up." Tooot..Tooot.. Conversation done...and they don't even know where I was. Do they have a GPS tracker on me? After five minutes, my phone rang. "Yes Clyde?" "Where am I to fetch you Young Master?" OK good he is asking. So no tracker on me at all. "Come by the cafe in front of Bridda's office." "I am here Young Master." Wait... What? How did that happen? So I'm really being tracked? My doubt starts to increase. I left the cafe and when outside, I looke

Chapter 25 - Making a Compromise
So I'm here in the VIP room of Danovan Hospital, gawking at the old man on the bed who had just survived from a fatal heart attack. I think this is just a ploy of his to get me to agree to his plans. Although it's the first time, well there's always a first time to everything."Young Master," Clyde came in to the dim room and walked towards me. "You may leave now.""Thank you. Please update me when he is awake.""Have you spoken to everyone in the mansion? We are not to let anyone know of his condition.""Yes Young Master."I stood up and I was about to turn the knob of the door when I weak elderly voice called out."Resh." It was no longer commanding but making a plea."Resh."I walked to the old man and took hold of his hand."Sir, we will talk when you are feeling better. Please take a rest for now.""You are like your mother. Stubborn." He heaved a sigh and a tear rolled down the side of his left eye.I

Chapter 26 - Clumsiness
I arrived home to see Bridda busy on her laptop still. She looked up, nod as I was closing the door, and went back to her laptop."Why still up?" I asked her. But I really meant to ask why she was outside her room. "Why are you home just now?"  She asked and stared at me for a moment while waiting for me to answer.I believed I was the first one to ask but moments like this, it is hard to argue. "Uhmm, I asked Borj opinion on  some matters. ""I see... Don't worry, I was home before dinner time and ordered food delivery for everyone.""Ohh dang! I forgot....I'm sorry! I was too busy I wasn't aware of the time." Nor did I even noticed I was hungry.  "Have you had yours?" She asked monotonously without looking away from her screen. Woow, is she concerned about me now?"There's still some left in the fridge. You just have to heat it up." She spoke before I could even answer."Thanks," I replied walking a

She screamed. She immediately stood up and my head hit the edge of the couch."Oucchh!" escaped from my lips. She looked at me with a raised eye brow."Oh sorry," I think I was one with most injury but I was the one apologizing."I think I've had enough for you tonight." All my bags are packed. I'm ready to go... I was whistling the tune while packing my bag to go to work. Everyone in the house was still asleep so I try to be as quiet as I can. I have to leave the house early to report for my work. Clyde had volunteered to pick me up but I chose to take public transportation instead. He would need to orient me as to the heirarchy in the company as well as introduce the people I would be working with.At six sharp, I was already in the Danovan Sky Tower, a very prominent structure at the heart of the city. There weren't much people yet and reception was still empty. I went to what seem like a lounge and got a cup of coffee from a nearby dispenser. This is good that the company offers free coffee to employees and visitors alike. Clyde sent a message to my phone asking if I was already in the building,  I should message him.I ignored his message and finished drinking my coffee until I noticed there was someone in the reception area.
