Sophie, Alex, and the mermaid were off watching ‘The Notebook'. As it turned out the mermaid loved movies. Something she, Mom, and Shelly had in common. I would guess by this point it was a mermaid thing. I couldn’t see why. Movies were a spin on reality. Mermaids loved anything that created a fantasy. I stretched out on the pool chair. The sun bathed my skin. Sophie loved the weird romantic movies. Sometimes the ones with the drama. Alex preferred X-rated movies, the ones that weren’t allowed on regular T.V stations. On lesser days, he would be drawn to action movies. I was not sure what Alex got from watching two or more people getting it on on a screen. The worst part was he would go as far as to watch it live. As decent as Alex was, he had a sick side. One that often came out to play. The part of him Father’s would chain their daughters in the house so they wouldn’t go near him. To make matters funnier, Sophie

My first instinct was to hurry home. I had to ensure the prince and princess were protected. The threat was far more dangerous than any of us anticipated. Only one merman could guide me in the next positive step. Two guards stopped me when I neared his quarters. I glanced at the familiar faces. “Is the Head Guard in?” “He's not accepting visitors at this moment,” the brown-haired guard responded. Aquant was the darn Head Guard. He saw and listened to everyone.I narrowed my eyes at him. “Why?”Was he with some mermaid? I swallowed at the thought. It shouldn’t matter if he was coupling with other mermaids. He was a hard-working man. Every available mermaid was lining up to bed him. He deserved to enjoy himself every once in a while. It was better he released all the stress and pressure his position held in bed than went out and got himself killed. The facts still m

Ms. Saunders was teaching and nothing of what she lectured about reached my ears. My gaze kept straying to the woman next to me. Nothing else mattered but the way pink lips curled around the pencil in hand, or the way that bottom lip appeared red after it was sucked into her mouth. Maybe it was just me, but even her hair looked more radiant today. The enchantress managed to comb her hair up in a ponytail at the top of her head. Two small partitions of hair were curled at the front. Dark pink with lime green were the colors of her hair. Odd colors but she managed to make them look normal. Sun or rain, those colors were always vibrant. Not to mention how silky and smooth the hair was against skin. The length. Oh, the length. It was long enough to get several tight wraps around the wrist when she was on her knees. I swallowed at the memory of how she looked when she was on those knees flashed through my mind. As always, she was beautiful. Perfect. This woman w

Shelly said nothing about the odd changes in the weather. She was in a foul mood. A mood that stamped a large red warning sign across her forehead to stay away. Shelly hardly got this way. When she did, no one should approach her. The angry woman retreated to her room and stayed there. The rest of the day ran faster than usual. Everyone avoided me and I, them. Sophie packed away the groceries she bought and prepared dinner. Alex was God knows where and the princess stayed with Sophie in the kitchen, trying to learn what she was doing. There was a soft knock on my door near the hour of seven. Alex pushed in his head. “Hey?”I stretched out my legs and leaned back on the couch. “What do you want?” He had been M.I.A all through the day. We were supposed to have a bro day. These past few years have been a struggle. No matter how we tried to work on our friendship, something came up and all our plans would

I stopped short on my journey to Ms. Saunders's class. Sophie was up ahead. Her cheeks were rosier than usual. The rage in green eyes could be seen from a mile away. She said something. It hit Alex the wrong way. His lips opened and closed several times. He tried to walk away but Sophie grabbed his arm. Alex gritted out something and slapped her hand away. Whatever she had to say afterward was swallowed when he stomped away. Sophie rubbed at the side of her face. This was a first. Sophie and Alex rarely made public scenes. If one did something the other did not like, they would ignore it, and tackled it behind closed doors. There were moments when Sophie would act out. However, Alex had a way of kissing the rage away. Still, they did not do things enough for anyone to mark them as a couple. To strangers, it was a one-night or day hook-up.  There was a stray kiss and touching here and there but nothing that said, Sophie and Alex, fucked on
