I stopped short on my journey to Ms. Saunders's class. Sophie was up ahead. Her cheeks were rosier than usual. The rage in green eyes could be seen from a mile away. She said something. It hit Alex the wrong way. His lips opened and closed several times. He tried to walk away but Sophie grabbed his arm. Alex gritted out something and slapped her hand away. Whatever she had to say afterward was swallowed when he stomped away. 

Sophie rubbed at the side of her face. 

This was a first. Sophie and Alex rarely made public scenes. If one did something the other did not like, they would ignore it, and tackled it behind closed doors. There were moments when Sophie would act out. However, Alex had a way of kissing the rage away. 

Still, they did not do things enough for anyone to mark them as a couple. To strangers, it was a one-night or day hook-up.  There was a stray kiss and touching here and there but nothing that said, Sophie and Alex, fucked on
