OSIFA IS GONE
"From what I learned at the bar today, " began my mother. "The notice is exactly what Shadrach described. One month expiration duration and yes people have started seeing Razzi." she said. "This is serious." I said after heaving a deep sigh. "Do you know the most astonishing thing? " she continued. " "No." I repiled. "One customer was hailing Razzi in the bar today.  In his words. "Our homes and stores would have gone down the drain if not the Razzi." said my mother. "Poor people." I said. "Poor people indeed." she replied. "What must we do? " I asked. "Nothing Fetty. We can't do anything. This thing is beyond us." answered my mother.  "Let's  get some sleep. It's really late." she added. I lay close to my sisters thinking about the conspiracy. In my recent poem, I wrote a line that says "You can't play the creator's role." and the Reverend will say "God will not come down from heaven and perform all tasks. Sometimes, you'll have to take it by force." I tossed from on

FETTY CAN WRITE
I was able to convince my mother to let me take Razzi's son on a tour. "You barely know him. " she objected. "He might be the miracle we need to unravel the demolition conspiracy." I had said. If Razzi's son wants a tour, I'll give him a tour. I am even ready to know him and perhaps be his friend as long as I would get what I want. "Are you ready? " he asked from outside. "Almost." I replied while looking for my little purse beside our centre table. "Let's go." I announced. It was few minutes past 4pm. "For how long will the tour lasts? " he inquired. "A year." I jokingly replied. He chuckled. "Touring the whole of London will take long but since your Internship program will last for six months, am sure we have all the time in the world." I maintained while locking our door. "I shall take you to the essential areas today." I began. "We should be back in an hour or more." I added. "Okay." he said. I took him to the book store and we stood outside the building. "This is

PETER
"Fetty I am so proud of you. " began Dr. Amrah. I came to her office as soon as I dropped my cookies for the day in the bar. "When did you realize you could write? " she asked. "Can I? " I replied. "Of course my dear. Your content is always genuine, deep and inspirational." she said. I smiled feeling proud. "I'll advice you write more. Write as often as possible. Consistency will bring out the best in you. " she affirmed. "So how do I get inspired?  What can I write about.? " I said. "You'll always find your way." she replied with her usual bright smile. "You think I can write the way renowned authors do? " I said. "You can be anything you want." she immediately replied. "As long as you put your heart and soul into it. " she added. I nodded. "You know Fetty, Literature for me depicts another dimension of life." she continued. "Writing is not just a art. It's a gift and that's why we have those who can write and those who were born to write. " she said. I nodded.

A TRIPLE CORD
Monday the 19th of March 2021, a fearless trio, Peter, Layo and I Fetty stormed the Urban Planning Centre in town. The Urban Planning Centre handles building and construction matters in the state. The office allocates space to prospective land owners and ensures all building activities are in accordance with it's laid down rules. We boarded a taxi from London and the three of us sat at the back seat. I wasn't sure how Peter and Layo felt but I was tensed and sweating all over. "We'll drop at the Orange Street Main Junction." said Peter to the Taxi driver. "Okay Oga." replied the taxi driver. "Is there where the Urban Planning Centre is located? " I asked. "Yea right opposite the orange estate." replied Layo. "You've been there? " I said while looking at Layo surprisingly. "I know this town more than you do sister." he replied. "Really bro? " I retorted. "Seems am the only one who barely gets out of London then." I added. Peter chuckled and exchanged glances with Layo. We alighted fr

THE BEGINNING OF THE END
Peter, Layo and I left the Urban Planning Centre feeling hopeful. We didn't just establish an element of doubt in the office, we brought the General manager's senses to the realization that there is a conspiracy. As we walked to the Main junction after exiting the office, I said to the boys "Let us keep this a secret." My intention is to ensure Peter doesn't go running to his daddy spilling the outcome of our visit. Our plan will definetely be ruined if his father Razzi, a member of the cabal comes to know what we've been up to lately. "So you are saying no one should know? But Why? " questioned Peter. "There is a conspiracy in progress and we know the perpetrators might be in London." I began. "You now how information is digested there. The rumor will spread around like a wild fire and our objective will not be achieved." I maintained. "She has a point." replied Layo. "Yes she does." answered Peter. I was glad the boys were buying the idea. "Let no one hear about this just like the

Even though I wanted to let Peter know the truth, I wasn't going to tell him just like that especially not knowing where his loyalty lies. I lowered my head and began"I am following up on the demolition issue because I want to help. " "Help? " he said. "There are people who received the notices. There are people who were tricked, people who paid to secure thier properties and I know there are people who will be tricked in the future. Poor, ignorant, innocent people." I said. Peter nodded and I continued with my head lifted up. My mother tells me "You don't have to know people to help them. You don't have to be acknowledged to do what's right. " I said. "You wanna be a freedom fighter right? " he said with a smile. "Kind of. " I replied smiling too. "When I chose this neighborhood as my internship centre, my dad objected. He said their was nothing here. Except filth, ignorant and poor people." I looked at him and as if he read my mind, he said "I am sorry if that made you feel ba

THE TRUTH
I woke up the next morning as earlier as I could. My mother, Tami and Kiki were sleeping. I woke up before the alarm I set on my cell phone had rung. It was few minutes past 5:am. Was I a bit too early? I had thought on my way to Peter’s room. I shunned the voice in my head who was begging me to take a U turn back to our room. I knocked on Peter’s door not being sure of whether he would respond or not. He might still be asleep I thought. I knocked for the third time telling myself it was the last time I would knock if I did not get a response. “Who is there?” I heard him say. “It is I Fetty.” I quickly replied. I had expected him to say go away or why are you here? But instead, I heard the key hole moving. He unlocked the door and asked me to come in. “I am in a hurry.” I began. I looked at his face and my expectations were violated. I was expecting his face to be all moody, sad or perhaps his eyes swollen but it seemed Peter slept better than I did. “I am very sorry

FALLING FOR MR. ARROGANT?
"I have an idea. " began Mr. Chinedu. "We are all ears sir. " I replied paying keen attention to him. "We will enter the streets of London, sought for all property owners who had received the demolition notice, then we will meet with them. " he paused to pick a phone call then continued after mumbling some words via the phone. "We shall know who gave them the notice, who they have been speaking to and what measures did their supposed saviours make them take. " he said. I smiled and said "They will lead us to the perpetrators. " "Exactly. " replied Mr. Chinedu. He then turned to Peter and said "Do you think maybe your dad can help us out? " "No" I screamed before Peter could say a word. All of them suddenly looked at me in a strange manner. I knew I had to explain the reason for my disagreement. "Sir, " I began. "Since we promised to keep this entire endeavor a secret task, shouldn't it be left so? " I said. "Well Fetty you are right but my father is no strange man. "

THE CABAL OF JUSTICE
I woke up the next morning sooner than usual. I always possessed this habit of waking up early when I had a task ahead and this demolition task is one task I find very fundamental. Today at noon, Mr. Chinedu will come down to London and we shall start our dear quest. I did my regular chores and as usual, everyone in my family went to his place of designation. Tami and Kiki had left for school around few minutes past 7 am. My mother left for the bar at exactly 10am. Today, my evening or perhaps night shift will commence. My mother shall return home around 5pm while I shall take over and close the bar at 10pm. I had taken my bath already, had breakfast then resolved to making lunch. I had thought that Mr. Chinedu might arrive late evening and I might stay all day waiting without preparing lunch therefore I felt I should make lunch and keep before he calls us. Peter had gone to the construction site for his internship training for the day. Layo, on the other hand I guess

COMPANIONSHIP
CHAPTER 40: A NEW CHAPTER  My mother has always told me of how important it was for me to move on no matter the odds. When my father left for Libya half a decade ago, she said we must move on. When he died, she reiterated the same principle and today, I am pondering on the same words of encouragement. Last night, my mother made me understand that I must move on no matter the outcome of the demolition investigation. Ever since I began getting clues to the case, I have been burning with the desire to unravel this mystery and bring the cabal to book. If only my mother knew that the book she recently bought for me, "The trial of Dedan Kimathi has been such a big influence on my hunger for vengeance. But, she is right. No matter the outcome, I must move on. I have a college or University certificate to earn. I have a mother to assist, siblings to cater for and God knows I so much want to take my family out of London which to an extent is becoming a shit hole. Mr. Chinedu fel
