HEARTBREAK AND BETRAYAL The yellow maxi dress complimented her olive skin tone perfectly and the little extra height that came with the white heels she wore made her appear thinner than she was. The clock beside her bed read five-thirty, giving her enough to scrutinize her appearance in the mirror before she had to leave for the restaurant. She fingered the perfect ringlets of her black hair, wishing it were shorter, but Brent loved her long hair, so she never cut it much. MAKING A DECISION   News of their breakup spread amongst their mutual friends quicker than Sierra would have liked, when the first call came all she wanted to do was crawl in a hole and hide away, everyone had heard what happened, though it was Brent’s skewed version of how they came to a mutual agreement, she figured it best to let them believe she hadn’t been dumped, it soothed her heart a little.    Sierra wasn’t by any means a loner, she made friends quite easily and had a few close friends, those being the only ones she felt comfortable telling the truth to so when Macy finally heard the news and decided to round up the girls for a weekend of cliche ice cream and movies, Sierra gave in, she needed to get out of her head and having the four crazy women over would do just that.   

BOSS LADY The evening with her friends turned out to be just what Sierra needed, with Lou and Elena’s little drama becoming the main topic of discussion, she was glad she wasn’t the topic of discussion, because while Brent had broken her heart, she wasn’t sure if she’d be able to sit through a typical “bash-the-ex” session which they usually had when one of them went through a breakup in college.  In her eyes Brent wasn’t a bad person, she still loved him as much as she had before he broke her heart and because of that, she was still learning to think of him as the villain in the story.  Her friends had all left early, needing to get back to their lives, which left Sierra with only one thing to do to put off calling her parents and that

AUNT ECCENTRIC “That son of a-” My mom threw her hand over Aunt Mitsy’s mouth just in time to muffle the curse word that was escaping.  “Mitsy, there are kids here!” Little Ethan watched them with deep interest from his father’s lap, soaking in all the information he could. Macy’s son was just learning to talk and kids are notorious for picking up swear words the fastest.  “I’m sorry, I’m just so furious, I could kill him!” Aunt Mitsy fumed, throwing her tiny fists down on the picnic table.  “Aunt Mits, it’s really okay. I- nothing can change what happened, to be honest, even if I could turn back the clock, I don’t think I want to.

THE DEAL Singapore was quickly growing on Sierra, she enjoyed the contemporary modern culture that the city had to offer, in her brief tour with Ken she’d seen much of what it had to offer and made a mental list of things to do while she was in the city.  In the three days she’d been there, she never felt out of place, people were welcoming beyond measure and spoke quite good English. She had yet to cook in the beautiful kitchen she was provided, but in the meanwhile was enjoying the different cuisines, thus far, she enjoyed the Malaysian food the most.  Paging through the folder in hand, Sierra’s eyes fell on the directions to the ice-cream parlor that Ken swore was the best ice cream in the world.
