~Jane~"Jane, wake up. We're home now," I heard Nathan say gently, his voice pulling me from the haze of sleep. I blinked my eyes open, the edges of sleep clinging to me, and turned toward him. "Nathan," I murmured, still half-lost in that dreamlike place between waking and memory. The image of the elevator flickered in my mind- his mouth on mine, the way the air had hummed between us like something alive. For a heartbeat, I swore I could still taste him. "We're home," he said again, his gaze catching mine. But there was something behind his eyes- conflict, restraint. Like he was holding back words that might change everything. "What is it, Nathan?" I asked quietly. He reached over, his fingers wrapping around mine. For a moment, he simply held my hand and searched my eyes. "It's nothing, Jane," he whispered before lifting my hand to his lips, brushing a tender kiss against my skin. And just like that, I felt it again- the pull toward him, that invisible tether drawing me closer.
