Chapter 91: Two-faced
Writer's pov Bainbridge islandIt took a while, but Leon and Kelly got to the hospital sooner than she anticipated, all thanks to Leon's speedy but safe driving. He had told her about his love for speed, reassuring her that he wouldn't go his normal speed because of her. Kelly secretly wished he had, because she loved the feel of the cool wind on her skin. Her face had a pink flush as she got down from the van, walking to wait in front of the vehicle of a slightly slower Leon to get down."What's taking you so long?" She asked, her feet bouncy with the need to go into the hospital."I dropped my phone when I was about to get out." His voice sounded muffled as he was bent, searching for the missing phone. She moved to his side just as he straightened, whispering a victorious 'gotta ya!' "Found it." He turned to look at her, smiling that adorable smile she refused to allow make her go weak in the knees. She frowned a bit, trying t

Chapter 92: Uneasy
Veronica's povI didn't wait for the cab driver to take the money from my outstretched hand before I flew out of the cab. I walked briskly into the station, ignoring the noise around. I had just one goal in mind and I would be damned if I allowed myself to get distracted. The station was huge so I had no other choice but to ask the lady standing behind a huge counter. The idea of searching everywhere till I found him was not appealing anyways."Good afternoon," I said, staring intently at the blond haired lady. She didn't look up, neither did she acknowledge me and I didn't bother to wait for it, "I am looking for my boyfriend, Hunter Arenas." She raised her head to direct a bored look at me, her eyes looked slanted, barely opening, like she would rather be sleeping than standing here talking to me."The alley suspect?" She asked a little bit louder than necessary, drawing attention my way. If she was looking to embarrass me, I didn't care because all I had on m

Chapter 93: Trust issues
Hunter's povI watched with my arms folded as the nurse stationed at the hospital expertly took care of Veronica who had remained unmoving since I dropped her on the bed. This was why I didn't want her here, even though I was glad she was with me. Xander touched my shoulder, passing comfort to me in his own little way. I didn't bother turning back to look him in the eye or anything. Oscar came in, clearing his throat loudly to draw my attention. I turned to look at him and he motioned by raising his eyebrows, while nodding his head towards the corridor, to indicate his interest to see me.I unfolded my arms and turned slowly, giving Veronica one last look before I left."Don't worry, I'll be here." Xander who noticed my hesitation said to me. I nodded and followed Oscar out of the room. I hadn't even stepped out fully when he took me by my elbows to lead me out of the room. He didn't stop till we got to the part of the corridor that was deserted."What th

Chapter 94: Change of name
Writer's povCynthia used her hands to unnecessarily smoothen the white lace dress she was able to buy at the shop in front of the hotel when they arrived at Vegas. The dress passed her knees by only a little, while the back was halter neck, revealing the upper part of her back. Her hands shook despite her happiness, not because she didn't want to go through with it, but because she didn't have her friends and family with her. She fingered her hair which she had packed up to form a ring around her head, placing some white baby's breath in her hair, completing the look. She exhaled an unsteady breath in a bid to calm down her nerves. She smiled a wide smile, watching herself in the standing mirror, tucked by the corner of the room. Suddenly, an image of her father beating her mother flashed in her mind, and her smile fell. Another image of him yelling at her mother for not doing what he told her to do, the way he told her to do it. "You're useless, I regret ever m

Chapter 95: Family support
Veronica's povThe next few days passed with a lot of surprises, revelation, and mingling, it was the days before Hunter was released. The night of the day he was arrested, I followed Xander home to go get some clothes so I could stay at his place. The only reason why I even agreed was because of Hunter's persistent begging for me to do it for his peace of mind. On our way home, I noticed that Xander kept looking at the rearview mirror. I turned my head back to check what he was looking at occasionally, only to see a black car far behind us. "What's wrong?" I said when I turned back to look at him. He nodded towards the mirror and I didn't bother looking back since I already saw what was there."That car has been trailing us for a while, you won't mind if I try to lose it right?" He asked. I shook my head trying my best not to panic as I watched the car from the mirror. It kept following us no matter where Xander turned to, confirming my own s

Chapter 96: Cutting a deal
Writer's povMark entered the office of the doctor, sitting down while he waited for him to come meet him. It had been with great effort and an upgrade in lying that he had been able to convince Dulce and Philip that the funeral would happen. He even had to enlist the help of Tom, who was exceptionally good at easing Dulce. Speaking of Tom, Mark noticed the budding friendship between him and a slightly reluctant and suspicious Dulce. He would have complained and stopped the whole thing but Diana made him realize that Tom was more important and useful to Dulce than he could ever imagine. He had taken time to study that she was indeed right in that aspect. Dealing with that, and finding out that Hunter had been arrested as the main suspect for murder, was totally unsettling. He and Diana had rushed down to the station, trying to offer their help anyway they could and show support. For someone who was facing a tough time, Hunter didn't seem to look like it, neither did he act li

Chapter 97: Stakeout
Writer's povIt's been a week since Lucinda moved out of the house, packing some of her stuffs to go stay in a popular bed and breakfast owned by her friend's daughter. She left the day she had that conversation with Betty in the kitchen. Betty and Jameson had been unaware of the whole thing till late evening when they didn't see her for dinner. Kelly had also been subdued, her eyes all puffy as if she had been crying. Jameson had asked if all was well and she told him she was just feeling emotional thanks to the hormones. Neither he nor Betty were convinced, but they dropped the issue, still thinking of how to tell her about her father's sudden need to see her. Jameson had gone up the stairs to go get Lucinda to join them for dinner. He paused mid calling, finding the room empty and devoid of the energy that was Lucinda's. He checked the bathroom in her room and found it empty also. He walked swiftly down the stairs, and checked the other rooms before checking the garden. Wh

Chapter 98: Incentive
Writer's povProdigal opened the door to his small room, gingerly holding his sides as he came inside. He walked past the light switch, preferring to remain in the dark. He walked slowly, grimacing with every step as he walked into the little cubicle called toilet, switching on that light. He rolled the bottom of his black shirt up, staring down at the spot that throbbed. He inhaled sharply when he saw his skin of his left rib cage was pink and raw looking, with blood around the wound. He moved slightly and pain increased, causing him to cry out. He deduced that he had broken a rib thanks to the accident. He looked around and found the white nylon containing some medical supplies he got from the drug store some weeks back. He picked up the ethanol in the bag, not bothering with an absorbent cotton wool as he used his teeth to remove the ethanol cover, spitting the rubber away as he poured the liquid directly on the wound. He yelped loudly, barring his teeth before he bit down

Chapter 99: Knowing more
Vanessa's pov"Whew!" I exclaimed as I packed the last of my things into my bag, looking around the room incase I might have forgotten something. Nope, I hadn't.I zipped up the bag, wondering how I accumulated more things when what I brought hadn't been as much. You'd think I bought more things and in a way I did get new things, I just wasn't the buyer of those things, I was only the receiver. Helen I found was a serious shopperholic, who especially shopped when things weren't going as well as they should. Hunter's sister, Adriana, too was a hard shopper, buying anything and everything as long as it caught her interest. I got involved in it because they both loved gifting, giving me things when they bought in twos or threes. I had gotten a lot of things I wouldn't even need like a cute dog head tooth brush holder, a twirling shaving stick and many more. It was worth mentioning that I also got some new clothes and dresses. I had throughly enjoyed my stay with them in X

Chapter 100: Wake gone wrong
Writer's povDulce turned to look at the person causing the commotion at the door. What she found was totally unexpected. Adams strolled him into the room, walking like he had no care in the world. Everyone turned their heads towards him, watching him as he slinked close to where she stood. He seemed oblivious to the attention he was getting. Philip ran towards the corridor where he had seen Mark enter. Dulce hitched to slap Adam for daring to come to for the wake, but she held back, using one hand to hold the other. Adam made a big fanfare, clearing his throat loudly as he dipped his hand into his suit pocket to bring out a white envelope."I am so sorry for your loss Dulce. Simon was a great man." He said, his eyes totally revealing the insincerity of his words. "At the hospital, I tried to offer my help in paying all the bills but Mark decided to interfere and I couldn't." Diana came to stand in front of Dulce, using her body to shield her. He looked at
