Foggy Soup Forest
‘Return. Burn all’The whispers wake me up. I look around quickly, then realising no one is there, I sigh and shake my head. I refuse to listen to them. There is nothing that could make me do what they suggest. They’re persistent, that’s for sure. Looking up, I notice the sun has moved to a much more comfortable position in the sky and so I continue my journey up the mountain. The snow crunches between my paws. It feels strange at first, but I get used to the feeling soon enough. I am starting to feel a little hungry. I take a moment to survey my surroundings. If I go any higher, then there might be nothing to hunt and eat. I decided to take care of that before continuing with my journey. Thanks to Darnell for teaching me how to survive as a wolf during the times I am stuck in the wilderness.

Follow the Bird
The forest is as foggy as it had appeared to be from the position on the mountain. Perhaps even more so. I had to rely heavily on all of my senses as a wolf to navigate my way through the place. The feeling of me not belonging here grew stronger with each passing moment, but the whispering voices grew ever quieter the deeper in I travelled. It was a surreal feeling of anxiety and peace merged into one whole.I wasn’t sure of the direction I needed to head in, so I allowed my feet to take me wherever felt right. There were no distinctive markings or paths and even if there had been, the forest had long since destroyed anything. If I was close enough, there would be at least something that resembled the remains of a castle, though… right?Lumi is pretty silent as I travel through the forest. The sense of not belonging there seems to make her uncomfor

Writing Desk Raven
As I make my way inside what is left of the inner castle grounds, I find myself drawn into one particular room. Unlike the others, this one is almost fully intact still, but the darkness within makes it difficult to see until my eyes have fully adjusted.I’m in what used to be the throne room, it seems. A large chair made of stone sits upon a raised platform of sorts with two smaller thrones sit either side of it. The drapes have mostly been eaten away by moths or plucked by birds, and the fabric is quite faded, but I can still just about make out the designs on them. What draws my attention, however, are the two blood-red eyes peering back at me from one desk near the thrones. It had almost blended into the darkness with how black the creature was, but as my eyes adjusted more, I made out the creature’s shape.A raven. The black feathers looked more like the midnight sky with no moon or stars, those b

The Witches
As I waited for the last of the sunshine to vanish behind the horizon, the rays through the fog and trees caused a hypnotic display of shimmering dancing shadows. I had to admit, even though this place was not comfortable to live in, it was, at the very least, beautiful in its own right. Hunting in this strange place had been tricky at first, but I found that if one stayed still long enough, an animal would soon show up. Life was in abundance here, and the animals did not know what a wolf was. They still ran when I lunged at them, of course, but with them never seeing a predator like me before, they made it all too easy. Finally, darkness came and the raven Aderyn returned. It then led me deeper into the fog-filled forest. It was hard going with the fog and shadows, but it didn’t help that the raven was as black as the surroundings, so it blended in far too w

Relaying Message
The witches gave me the day off to recover from the night's journey. I knew that Jay would wonder where I had gone as a few days would now turn to a few months. I wasn’t sure if I could handle such a long period without him, but I was determined to prove my worth and not allow myself to fall into madness. Jay, on the other hand, would not handle my vanishing so well. With that in mind, the witches agreed to let me tell him some details, but my location could not be disclosed to anyone, mate or otherwise. I understood why. Even if he managed to enter the forest without trouble, he would never be able to track my scent and getting lost in this place would drive him even madder than just being away from me for a long period. ‘Honey, I promise, I’m fine!’ I relay through the mindlink, keeping it open only for him and not the rest of our pack. ‘I’m going to get so

Witchy Ritual
With night finally here, Aderyn stood to watch on the rooftop of the cottage while the witches stood in a circle around me. I couldn’t understand what language they were speaking, but I could sense the magic surrounding them, though it was faint at first. They had told me the first ritual they were to perform would be to see what kind of talent I already possessed so that they could work from there. I just had to stand and look pretty for them. Something I could easily do. It would be the training that came after that would not be so simple. I could feel the surrounding aura. It felt somewhat tingly, like having pins and needles in your whole body. Everything took on a murky colour, which almost blended into the darkness. I wouldn’t have even noticed, had the fire a little off to the right hadn’t been giving off a bright glow to the surrounding objects, but n

First Lesson
A blinding flash of white light dazed me for a moment before I came to my senses again, finding myself in an unknown location within the forest. I was on the ground still, which I was thankful for. I don’t know if I could have survived if I had been transported high up and fell.Looking around, there was no sign of anything to show life outside of the nature that lived here. That was both a blessing and a curse. I did not know where the witch’s cottage was from here and any amount of creatures could now pose a threat to me unless I learned how to fly.“Any ideas, Aderyn?” I asked, but the raven was silent. It seemed that unlike with Lumi, once joined in one form, communication was either lost or had to be re-found. Either way, this would not be as easy as my first wolf transformation had been. Lumi had taken control then, which made it easier to learn and what she couldn’t teach me through her actions, she

The Fox and the Raven
Life is funny when you think about it. One minute you’re a normal human girl, the next you’re a werewolf and then the next you’re a flightless bird trying to avoid death by a fox. I suppose if I had learned how to fly, it wouldn’t have even looked my way, but a defenceless bird is an easy meal for the opportunistic canine.Backed against a tree trunk, I let out a hissing sound towards the creature. I always used to think they were cute and fluffy… now I just think they’re relentless and frustrating! Despite being cornered, it knows to be wary even if I can’t fly. I have a sharp beak and although my feet aren’t as sharp as, say, an eagle, they’re still sharp enough to take an eye out.“Bring it on, you ruffian!” I croak at it, knowing full well it can’t understand me, regardless of what language I’m speaking or the lack of any ability as it were. “I hav

Dangers Everywhere
As the morning turned into midday, the shadows were now all but gone. Even with the fog, it was hard to see any way of travelling using the method I had finally learned to use. I could make some distance by gliding from tree to tree though, so I still had some ways and means of travelling. What surprised me was that I had no hunger pains in this form. I guessed it had something to do with my familiar not being a normal creature.I wondered how much further I needed to travel before I reached my destination. With the sunshine, I couldn’t rely on the shadows to lead me as much as before, but I knew I was still going in the right direction. That was all I knew, however, as there was no way for me to fly up and see for myself the distance left.Fluffing out my feathers, I look down at the ground for a moment and then up to the sky. In the trees, the fog was t

Made it Back
The moment the shadows had become longer and stronger, I returned to using them to speed up the distance made from here towards the cottage. I knew I didn’t have all that much longer before I failed completely, and I was not about to allow that to happen. The moment it came into view, I felt relief wash over me like a tidal wave. I was going to make it! Perhaps with only a few moments to spare, but I had done it. I was alive and on time. Then I noticed something and paused when I realised I was still with the witches! My physical body hadn’t moved from the spot, which was something I figured was true all along, as I had joined bodies with Aderyn, but what had come as a surprise was that even Aderyn was still there!Though Aderyn didn’t look like it was doing anything other than sleeping, too. Perhaps we were not in the same body after all? I w
