Chapter 41
(Izobel’s POV) My forehead creases while browsing the website to shop online for a new couch. I sat on the stool, using the kitchen island while waiting for everyone to finish clearing the living room. Amber opens the cupboard and groans, seeing only two cups.   I smirk. “Perhaps you would want to add another cup here, Amber,” I said, adding the couch with the same design and color in the cart. “I could have it personalized if you want?” I said, browsing for cups. She props her elbow on the kitchen island and looks at me intently. “You really think I won’t be able to kill him?” “Why don’t you try?” I suggested, smiling with mischief on my lips. “You scared Nolan, Amber.” She nodded, suddenly bursting a peal of laughter, causing the men in the livin

Chapter 42
(Izobel’s POV) “Ready?” I raised my head to see Kevin smiling at me as he showed his beautiful smile and teeth. I nodded, getting up from my chair and bringing my tablet to check on the hotel. He must have seen my arrival in the office after lunch because five minutes after I sat on my chair, he sent me a message, asking me if I could join him to visit the lake to see the marketing team's preparation. I understood and agreed to join him to check the area since we will be providing shuttle services for the guests. “Yep!” I answered. I glanced back at the two, Asia and Ryzen, pressing their lips, suppressing their smiles, as Kevin placed his hand at my back. I tried to ignore his touch, thinking it was just his way of being a gentleman. He reached for the doorknob, but we were startled when he opened t

Chapter 43
(Izobel’s POV) I took off our high-heeled shoes as we reached the lake. We smiled as Ryzen took a groupie of the three of us with the large rock formation on the lake as our background. Surprisingly, the signal in the area was good, which means the guests would definitely enjoy the grand opening as they could post on their social media pages right away. Ryzen posted our picture right away on his page, and in just a few minutes, he was receiving hearts and comments on his post. My eyes darted at the large opening and glanced at Asia when she stood beside me. “I’ve never been inside,” she whispered, sharing her thoughts with me as she narrowed her eyes. “Izobel, what could be inside?” My eyes squinted, studying the hole that looked like an open mouth of a giant’s head resting on the ground.

Chapter 44
(Izobel’s POV) Resembling the marking of the fox, our eyes widen, seeing a large canine in front of us. It was growling, ready to attack as the golden dog protected its puppies. I counted its offspring from afar. Three. This must be the dog Clayton saw, and it went back inside, sensing the danger of humans around. Maned wolf bears have similarities to foxes, but it is neither fox nor wolf. Right now, it was showing aggression because we went inside his territory. Ethan caught my wrist as I attempted to continue to walk. “Are you crazy?” he hissed. “What if it will attack you?” With the dark tunnel and almost everyone relying on the light of the flashlights, only I could see clearly what the animal was in front of us. Yet everyone sensed the danger of being mauled or bitten because of its continuous snarling.

Chapter 45
(Izobel’s POV) “What happened to you?” Janice’s eyes widened as she saw the dirt on my clothes and the band-aid on my elbow. She left whatever she was doing to stand up and walk to me, checking on the dirt in my dress. I glanced at my clothes. “Oh! I slipped,” I grinned at her. “I didn’t see the slope, and I went straight to the lake, but I’m fine.” “She seemed excited to swim,” Ethan said, not smiling. “Call the animal welfare. When you’re done, come to my office.” “Umm… That’s what I was about to tell you, but our landline phones were having some problems, but I already asked the technicians to check on the lines,” Janice reported. For a brief second, Ethan’s forehead creased, but he nodded before entering his office. “I have extra clothes, Izobel,” She squinted her eyes, checking my size. “I think it’ll fit. It’s in my locker downstairs. While I get it for you, better go inside, don’t let the boss wait.” “Thanks,” I forced my lips to curve a smile and opened the door, followi

Chapter 46
(Izobel’s POV)I raised my head when the hallway became bright again. The technicians must have restored the electricity and repaired whatever problem they found. I was holding my arm and checked on the cut on my skin. I winced, realizing this time the wound was deeper than before.“Oliver?” I heard Ethan’s voice. He was running toward me, and I found myself just standing and staring at him. I put my arms behind me, hiding my wound from Ethan.“Oliver?” I asked. My heart raced faster as I thought of Oliver.Ethan heaved a sigh. “Yeah. I think I saw him going this way,” he looked at me. “Are you ready to go home?”“Yeah,” I said. “I just came here to check on something,” I blinked my eyes and tried to breathe evenly, feeling my wound. I guess I panicked a while ago because I realized this was nothing but a wound, no poison in the knife or any sharp object used on me.“Izobel!” Oliver’s worried voice startled me. “You’re bleeding. What happened to you?” He walked in our direction and he

Chapter 47
(Izobel’s POV)“Carrie Hamilton?” she asked, her eyes surprised as she looked at me, and then she shook her head and chuckled adoringly. “Of course, it’s not you,” she said, rolling her eyes. “That would be impossible.”I forced a smile, racking my brain and trying to think who she could be as she looked familiar to me. My heart hammered in my chest because I had used the name Carrie before, but that was twenty years ago. She advanced toward the mirror, looking at our reflection. “But wow… the similarities were so…” her voice trailed off as she studied my face. “You have those same eyes and…”“You’re a Hamilton, right?” Janice cut in, twitching her lips as she tried to remember where she had seen it. “Ah! In your file. Your middle name is Hamilton.”I was forced to lift the corners of my mouth, smiling at her as I remembered who she was.“Carrie’s my aunt,” I lied. Her eyes brightened. “Really? Wow! The genes must be that strong. Goosebumps, see?” she laughed, showing Janice and me

Chapter 48
(Izobel’s POV)I did not open my eyes even when I felt someone climbing up my bed. I do not have to open my eyes to guess who it is. Despite Ethan’s insistence, I still sent him to Amber’s bedroom. Either he would spend the night downstairs or enjoy his sleep in my twin sister’s bedroom.Amber snuggled closer to me as she embraced me. “Izobel, why is there a gorgeous man in my bed? He definitely ruined my plan with Nolan,” she giggled softly.A naughty smile curved my lips. “That was actually the plan. No one must be overly happy tonight.”“Selfish!” she hissed, but she laughed with me.I rolled to my side to face her. “Are you happy, Amber?”“I’ve never been so happy in my life, Izobel. Mom’s right! Finding your mate is heaven,” she answered, meeting my eyes.“I know,” I whispered, but Amber knew that the mates who had chosen us, or maybe we have chosen, posed a huge problem in our lives and existence. No one should know we existed. No one must find out about our family.“Your mind…

Chapter 49
(Izobel’s POV)I walked half-asleep inside the office, wishing I was a vampire in movies that never sleep. With Ethan and I sharing a bed, my option was to buy a bigger bed or sleep on the floor. I could make a wink for an hour when he left very early to go back to his penthouse, not wanting Janice to panic that he was not there when she arrived.“Good morning, sleepy head,” greeted Ryzen, placing a cup of coffee in front of me. “Need more caffeine or bed?”“Bed, please,” I groaned as I picked up my cup, smelling the strong scent of black coffee before sipping. My hand reached for the computer, turning it on while enjoying the coffee.“What happened to you?” Asia asked when she walked past me, noticing the bandage on my forearm.I glanced at her, smiling sheepishly as I answered, “Accident. I guess I needed the vacation.” I tilted my head, looking at her. “Should I take a two-week vacation?”Ryzen smirked. “With this smokin’ number of clients, do it, and I’ll kill you.”I heaved a dee

Chapter 50
(Izobel’s POV)Jeanna was staring at me and tilting her head as if to find something in my face. For her satisfaction, I let her look at me for a while, studying me like I was some kind of painting in the museum of Louvre. She picked up her cup, sipped her coffee without breaking her gaze at me, and then she returned the cup to the saucer.“I’m sorry, Izobel. I knew it was rude, but every time I see you, I feel like I am looking at Carrie,” she chuckled gently.I gave her a friendly smile as if it was nothing, but the truth was I was nervous because this was unlikely to happen. Between Amber and me, I would go back and check on the people I became friends with, but I was always careful not to be noticed or seen. As soon as we left the place, Dad would secure us all with a new identity, and the old data would be erased.“It’s okay. I guess we have that one in our lifetime,” I told her, wishing I had the power to read Jeanna’s mind.“I know,” she rolled her eyes in amusement. “But I hea
