Chapter 61
LYRAMy mouth is wide open gaping at James, but I cannot bring myself to close it.  The revelation that he too is connected to a witch heritage is unbelievable.  Why would the Moon Goddess bring us together like this?  Why would she give me a daughter knowing that nothing but pain will come from her birth?Shaking myself back to reality, “Andrew, I really need those books.”  Andrew is looking everywhere but in my direction and a flood of guilt fills my brain through the bond.  “What did you do?” I demand to know.“It was not me,” he starts.  I am crossing my arms over my chest I raise an eyebrow in his direction, already feeling the fury of anger building in my system.  “Alpha Darin had any information about witches banned from the pack.”Alpha Darin, why does that name sound so familiar?  Then it feels like my chest is restricted and I cannot breathe.  “Alv

Chapter 62
ANDREW The smell of fried bacon is wafting through the house. Lyra is following her nose like she is looking for her mate. James and I exchange an amused look knowing exactly what is happening. Lyra may not be willing to eat meat, but it seems like the baby is craving it. Bolting down the stairs, Lyra heads straight for the kitchen, and presses herself up against Abigale to see what she is cooking. Lyra rests her head on Abigale’s shoulder and breathe in deeply, letting out a moan at the smell of the bacon frying on the pan. Poor Abigale, she is amused but clearly uncomfortable with the close proximity with her Luna. A frustrated growl leaves Lyra’s chest when she realizes that she was drawn to the smell of meat. She quickly backs away from Abigale and begins to mutter something about being a vegetarian. I start to chuckle, and James cannot help but join in. From the moment we found out that Lyra was a vegetarian we both thought it was absurd. Wolves are carnivores

Chapter 63
ANDREWJames and I take turns sitting with Lyra on the front porch in silence. She reluctantly let the pack doctor look her over, but she refused to move from the swing. The air is getting cooler as the sun sets in the sky, but Lyra does not seem to be cold. In fact, she does not seem to be anything. It is like her body is on the swing, but her mind is miles away. Every now and then I reach through the bond to try and catch a glimpse of her emotions or thoughts. But every time I do, massive walls build around her mind, and she glares at me from the swing. The turn of the doorknob behind me clicks and the smell of coffee hits my nose. I look up to see James trying to juggle three mugs of coffee. Hopping to my feel I take one of the mugs from him and pass it to Lyra. She takes it without a word, holding it between her hands, and taking small sips. Taking my mug from James we settle ourselves against the wall of the porch. “Has she said anything else?&rdquo

Chapter 64
LYRAFeeling like I have been asleep forever, the urge to pee stirs me awake. Rolling over, I groan, cursing my pregnant bladder, but the new position only makes the urge to go worse. Giving into the need, I stretch my arms open wide, and my arms hit nothing but empty sheets. Sitting up in a panic I notice that both of my mates are gone. We always get up together, it is what we do every morning. Fumbling with my phone, I light up the screen, and it is almost 10:00 AM. Crap! Why did they let me sleep so late?Jumping too my feet I notice that my stomach feels overly heavy. Rushing to the bathroom to relieve myself, as I sit on the toilet it feels like my stomach is larger than it was yesterday. I shake the thoughts to the back of my mind, there is no way that I am already showing. Even by werewolf standards that would be obscene. I look longingly at the shower knowing that I do not have time for one because I slept too late. Grabbing a t-shirt and a pair of shor

Chapter 65
LYRAChase shoves the books that are in his arms into James’s hands and pushes his way into the house. I have never seen him this way before he looks crazed. His nose is in the air, and he is sniffing his way around the house. “Uhhh,” I poke him in the shoulder trying to get his attention. “Are you okay?”“It smells so good in here,” he says as he pulls me in for a quick hug, but his nose never leaves the air. I cannot help but grin, I know exactly what is happening and it is comical that he has no clue. “What do you smell?” I ask him not trying to hide the amusement on my face. “Vanilla,” he whispers. “Like cupcakes with icing. Is someone making cupcakes?”“Not that I am aware of,” James winks at me, he obviously knows what is going on as well. Suddenly Annie, appears at the top of the stairs. She is wearing the pink sundress I gave to her.

Chapter 66
LYRA Lugging all of the books into the library, I drop them on the table with a thud. Chase brought me so much more than what I had asked for. While we were growing up, I avoided him like the plague. He was immature, had no respect for rules, and would bully me quite often. Now that I look back on my life at the Silver Wolf pack it is clear that my father pitted us against each other. My father knew that if he let us get close his evil plan would never come to light. “Jokes on him,” River chuckles in my head. “He died at Chase’s hands anyway.” Emotions flood my mind that I am not expecting. My father was an evil person and a terrible father. But he always treated me like a princess, up until Andrew showed up at the pack. I know that I should hate him, but I cannot ignore the pain in my heart whenever I think about him. Pushing my feelings to the back of my mind, I know I need to focus on the books in front of me. “Want some help?” I look up and see Ab

Chapter 67
ANDREWAs soon as the sun rises the next morning, I yank the covers off of Lyra and James. James lets out a threatening growl and pulls Lyra in closer for warmth. Popping her head over James’s arm, Lyra sticks her tongue out at me snuggles closer into James. Grabbing Lyra by the ankles I drag her to the end of the bed, and she squeals as her tank top rides up her fast-growing belly. Jerking awake at the sound of Lyra’s squeal James bolts upright, rubbing his eyes in confusion.“Come on you two,” I bark at the two of them. “Road trip.”“Where to?” James yawns falling back on the bed. “It is a surprise,” I mumble. “Pass,” he yells as he places his head under his pillow.Lyra is sitting on the edge of the bed with her belly poking out of her tank top. After I brought her to bed last night I laid awake for hours trying to decide what is best for my mates. The last time tha

Chapter 68
JAMES     As soon as she lowers her hood and the perfect blonde curls flow down her back, I did not need her to get any closer to know who she is.  My body tenses as her blue eyes pierce into mine.  I try to remind myself that I am not a little boy anymore, but that does not help the painful memories that flow through my brain.  Instinct makes me pull Lyra in closer and tighten my grip around her. “Hello James,” she sings through the night.  The inflection in her voice feels like she is taunting me like she did when I was a child. Suppressing the growl that is threatening to burst through my chest, I just nod in her direction.  “Lilith,” her name rolls off my tongue leaving a sour taste in my mouth.  “Oh come now,” Lilith says as she approaches me.  “Is that anyway to greet your mother?” A menacing growl erupts from my chest, as I push Lyra behind me.  The urge to protect Lyra against my m

JAMES“I think it is okay,” Lyra says as she shuffles gently on her feet. But I know this place, this place is anything but ‘okay.’ Grace opens the door to the tearoom; the smell of incense and cookies wafts out of the room. This is the most inviting that this place has ever smelled. Growing up this place always smelled of rotting plants and wet animals. I wanted to follow Lyra into that room, but it was all too comforting. Something is off about this whole situation that Andrew put us in the middle of. Andrew and Lyra may trust Grace, but Grace trusts Lilith, and I know that Lilith only looks out for herself. So that can only mean that Grace cannot be trusted either. Reaching out I grab Lyra by the hand and pull her back to me. “Do not go in there,” I whisper to her.“I have been there several times before with no issue,” Lyra cradles her stomach as she whispers back to me. “This is differen

Chapter 70
LYRAAs soon as I step through the doorway into the tearoom, the door slams behind me.  My eyes flash to Grace and she is just shaking her head in disappointment.  Grabbing the doorknob, I yank on the door, and it will not budge.  My hands immediately bang against the heavy wood of the door trying to force it open. “Andrew! James!” I scream as I fall against the wood. I step back as I hear my mates trying to break down the door from the other side and then it is just silent.  Trying the doorknob one more time, it twists easily in my hand.  Opening the door just a crack, I peek out of the tearoom only to realize that it no longer leads to the round entryway.  I open the door wider to reveal a tiny cottage.  Without a second thought, I step into the cottage and breathe in my surroundings.I wipe the tears from my eyes, as I look around the cottage.  It is exactly what you would expect a witch&r
