Alexander watched Williams go and then strode into the forest. "Kill everyone," he ordered loudly. Vampires and humans began to run, blending into the trees as he hissed loudly, his talons growing to wicked points, his fangs dropping to graze his lips. "Here I come" he whispered softly. "Better start running now, dogs, because if I catch you I'm going to rip your fucking heart out."The vampires dropped from the trees so fast the first of Alexander' younglings went down without much of a fight. The defensive line ignored the humans, concentrating on keeping the attacking vampires away from the compound as instructed.Drew hissed and ripped the head from a youngling, his eyes burning with excitement as the fresh scent of blood filled the night air. The sounds of screaming began to fill the night as his red hair swayed in the wind. He dropped the dead vampire and launched himself at the next one coming at him. As he ripped out the man's throat his eyes were scanning the dark forest tryi

Jim ran his eyes over the open ground of the evacuation site and tried to pierce the boundaries of the trees in the distance. He was looking for any sign of vampires. Not that he would see them if they were there. They could move so fast they would be on him before he had time to realise it if they chose . But still he looked because there was something so fundamentally arrogant about the bloodsuckers. They wanted you to see them coming. The sight of three large wolves coming out of the trees brought his attention back to their immediate surroundings. The wolves raced over to the waiting lycan. All three shifted to human form and Jim noticed immediately their' anxious expressions."Vampires," one of them said tersely. "At least three scents. There could be more."Jim was stripping off his clothes, a deep frown on

People moved about constantly into the night until silence began to descend on the empire. The vampires had removed all of Alexander' crew, the buses had rolled in from the evacuation site and families were reunited in the community hall. In total twenty one werewolves, six lycan and four vampires lost their lives. The losses seemed pretty low considering the odds stacked against the pack but it was still a crushing blow to Gordon. People had lost their mates, their sons and daughters, their brothers and sisters. The palace was empty of most of the pack now. Valerio had taken Anna home and Vale and Valerie had disappeared not long afterwards. The only vampires to remain in the compound were King Ricardo and his queen."We will forever be in your debt, King Ricardo. I know some of the pack have looked at you with unfriendly eyes tonight but it will pass. You will always be welcome here.""Thank you, Emperor Gordon," he said quietly, watching as he strode over to his mate who was sitting
