Chapter Thirty-One (Lazarus)
I didn’t know what to say to her. I didn’t want to ruin the bond I was trying to create, but I needed her to know who I really was. “You may as well tell her, she has known about Sin this entire time.” Abigail informed me. “You knew Sin was a demon?” I was livid. How was she still ok with him knowing what he was? “He trusted her with it unlike someone I know.” Abigail accused, narrowing her eyes. “So, you know about Sin?” Amaya asked, as if she was trying to piece together a puzzle. She stood up and stood by the bars with a questioning look. I sighed and rubbed the back of my neck, “I am his younger brother.” “Are you fucking kidding me?!” she yelled, betrayal written on every feature. “If you are using me in some twisted sibling feud, I will lose it.” She snapped, her voice shaking. “It’s more complicated than that.” “Wait if you are a demon, Samuel. Why are you helping the pastor?” “My name is actually Lazarus, and I am not helping of my own accord.” Tears filled her eyes,

Chapter Thirty-Two (Amaya)
I was furious I was surrounded by liars; they must think I am quite the fool. I am so stupid. How could I have been so blind? How could they keep all of this from me? “Amaya?” Abigail asked as I felt her hand on my back, I stood and moved away from her, I didn’t want to be bothered. They acted like it was no big deal, just dropped it all on me. How was I supposed to process everything? What did they expect? “Please leave me alone.” I mumbled as I leaned against the wall, closing my eyes so I could focus on everything that I had been told, trying to digest the information and the fact that in a few days or hours, I would be executed. I longed to be home, with my books curled up in my bed, drinking coffee and reading the next book on my list. Gods, how I missed coffee, hot baths, and pizza. I could go for a pizza. I wiped the tears away with my sleeve. Well, if I was going to be executed, II mine as well make sure I go out looking like me. When Samuel, I mean Lazarus gets back, I wil

Chapter Thirty-Three (Sin)
“Sire?” Merula questioned. "Yes? ... What is it?" I snapped as I continued to pace the length of the throne room. I wanted to go see Amaya and make sure she was okay, but if I did, I could ruin my own plan. Damn it, I hope this worked. If it didn’t, then she would be executed along with Abigail, and everything would be for naught. “Your brother Rook is here to see you.” Merula stated, his voice shaking. “Send him in.” I replied as I stormed over to the throne and sat down, agitation ate at me and I really wanted to get this over with. Rook entered and bowed just as Merula turned to leave. “What news do you have?” I asked him as he shuffled uncomfortably. “I’ve overheard some demonesses talking about Lazarus taking over when he comes back with his fated mate, but I overheard my mother talking to one of her guards. She is working with the pastor to sentence and kill witches, what I can’t figure out is why. Why would she be interested in a mortals affair?” “She is going after Amaya

Chapter Thirty-Four (Amaya)
**TRIGGER WARNING!!! Sexual Violence** I heard footsteps heading towards our cell. I stood and moved to the bars expecting to see Lazarus, only it was the pastor's face that came into view. Behind him stood his two goons. When I saw him, I backed away. He had a creepy smile on his face as he looked at me, sending chills down my spine. “What do you want?” I spat at him as he moved to the cell door. “I want to speak to you alone.” He replied simply as he took out the keys and unlocked the door. “I don’t fucken think so.” I retorted as a feeling of ill intent washed over me. "You are my prisoner and you have no choice," he smirked as the two goons moved to enter the cell, coming towards me. Abigail jumped in front of me to protect me. “Move, witch!” the pastor yelled as one goon shoved her and she fell, hitting her head on the floor, knocking her out. Cornered, I tried to fight them off, I slapped the one man, causing his lip to bleed as the other went to grab me. I ducked under his

Anger flooded me, how dare he touch her, she did not belong to him. She was mine. After fighting every instinct, I had to place her back in that cell. I turned and went right back to the room. When I walked in, Pastor Gideon was sitting at his desk, flipping through a book. It took everything in me not to kill the asshole on the spot. “Samuel, you’re back?” He questioned as he put the book down. His nose bruising badly. A small sense of satisfaction filled me knowing that she had injured this asshole of a man. “Yes, I want to speak with you.” I declared, as he looked at me cautiously. “What is up, dear boy?” He smiled at me like nothing had happened, but the smile did not reach his eyes. “You had no right to attack her like that.” “She is my prisoner. I can do what I want with her.” He retorted, becoming angry himself. "You should not have interfered. Now she will go to waste." I jumped up and grabbed him by his collar, lifting him off the floor, “touch her again and I will pers

Chapter Thirty-Six (Amaya)
Abigail and I tried to rest, but with the upcoming execution and the events of the previous day, we were unable to. As time ticked by, my anxiety amplified, Lazarus did his best to distract me, but my mind kept wandering to what would be coming. Abigail put on a brave face, but she sat in the corner visibly shaking in fear, what was one supposed to do when they were waiting for death? I was in disbelief at how messed up things had gotten. Mere weeks ago, I was in 2022, working a full-time job, visiting with friends and, in my free time, reading and living a carefree life, all to be turned upside down by one selfish demon. How could he do this to me? He had said he wanted me and where was he? I hadn’t seen him since we were arrested, yet Lazarus was here guarding my cell from the pastor and his sick desires. Hell, he had saved me mere hours ago from being taken advantage of. I hugged my knees to my chest and leaned my back against the wall as tears streamed down my face. Abigail mov

Chapter Thirty-Seven (Sin)
My flames dispersed I was standing behind the crowd facing the platform. My heart hammering in my chest when I saw Amaya swinging by her neck, her feet flailing as she tried to breathe but couldn’t. In a flash I was on the platform, I grabbed her swinging form as panic ripped through me. My heart beating a mile a minute, I carefully removed the rope from her neck and uncovered her face before untying her hands. “Please don’t let me be too late.” I begged to myself as I felt for a pulse. Why had she summoned me so late? She choked in a breath and relief washed through me, her eyes darting around trying to focus, “Save Abigail!” she whispered. “I will save Abigail, but in return, you need to make that deal.” I responded, trying to keep my composure, I would help her anyway, but I needed her bound to me to protect her in hell. "Do you agree to the deal, her life and in return you are bound to me?" “Deal.” she whispered as she lost consciousness. I saw Lazarus was standing behind the

Chapter Thirty- Eight (Amaya)
My head pounding, I opened my eyes, looking around. I was back in my room. Was it all just a horrible dream? I stood and walked over to my dresser, looking at my reflection, a dark bruise lined my neck. I touched it and flinched. Frowning, I tried to remember what had happened. Cringing, I remembered being pushed from the platform and crying as I struggled to breathe slowly, suffocating. I vaguely recalled someone grabbing me and removing the bag and ropes from my neck and hands. I had never been so terrified. Who was it? I struggled to remember what had happened, seeing glimpses in my memory, but the more I focused, the more they slipped away. I looked in the mirror again; I looked awful, grubby and dirty from being in the cell. I had a black eye and my lip was split. A dark bruise lined my neck. My eyes zeroed in on a necklace that was around my neck. Feeling the power emanating from it, I picked up the gem from my neck to inspect it. The necklace had a red ruby on a simple gold

Chapter Thirty-Nine (Lazarus)
After making sure Amaya was ok, I went to track down Hellebore. She had almost cost me my fated mate, and I was furious, not to mention Sin was the one to save her because the damn vow compelled me not too. If she chose Sin because of this, I would never forgive her. I headed down the hallway, ignoring the members of the court when they asked where my fated mate was, and headed to my mother's quarters. I knocked before entering, finding her talking to her guards. She dismissed them and turned to me. “How dare you show your face here!” She yelled at me as she walked closer to me. “You made a vow to me and promised you would make sure Abigail died and yet she still lives and is, in fact, now in hell.” “I can not help that Sin intervened now, can I?” I spat back at her. “Not to mention Amaya almost died because of you!” “I don’t think you perceive the threat those two women have to us.” She sneered. "They could ruin everything. “I would if you let me in on the bloody plan.” “She c

Chapter Forty (Amaya)
When I opened the door to the hallway, I couldn’t believe my eyes, A large window was across from me, and the sky was lime green and demonic dragons were flying around. I walked to the window to get a better view of outside. The grass and trees were varying shades of purple and the trunks and bark were black, I could see rivers of pink water and lava across the open expanse. “What do you think?” Nearly jumping out of my skin, I turned to face a well-built man wearing a black button-down shirt and black jeans. His eyes were a piercing green that swirled in different shades, his dark hair was cut short and his face clean shaven, he was very attractive and looked a little like Lazarus. I hadn’t noticed before with Sin and Lazarus, but they had similar traits as Rook. Two horns protruded from his head but instead of the devil horns, I always pictured they were skinnier, curving close to his head, almost reminding me of a crown. “It’s beautiful,” I mumbled, motioning out the window. “I’
