Chapter 40
It has been a long day so I suggest we have dinner brought to our suite. Emma was more than agreeable except she did have to stop for her cocoa. “I wonder what you’ll crave when you’re pregnant”. I meant to think that internally but it sort of slipped out. “When I’m pregnant? Is this something you’re planning on soon?”. She just looked at me confused. It dawned on me, “umm baby, do you know how babies are made?”. I deserved the slap she gave me on the chest. “Of course I know how they’re made”. I look at her and pause, wait a second.. “Do you know how they’re prevented?”. She gave me a look of confusion, “you mean, not having sex?”. Oh boy. Maybe Grace needs to have ‘the talk’ with her. “Well baby, when two people have a lot of sex like we do and they don’t use protection or birth control, pregnancy is a possibility”. I could see the wheels turning, “what is protection?”. Oh shit. Does this mean she doesn’t want a pup? Or does this mean her experiences before were unp

Chapter 41
Emma’s POV I wake up from a very peaceful sleep by permeating nausea. I have to race to the bathroom to make it to the toilet in time, retching up last night’s dinner. “Baby, are you ok?” Liam flicks on the bathroom light. “Ugh.. french fries are not good coming back up”. He pulls my hair back and is gently rubbing my back until another wave hits and hits hard, oh god… there goes the cocoa. I sit by the toilet until I am positive I have nothing left in me. “Do you feel sick Liam? Was it something I ate?”. He squats down behind me and leans me gently back into his chest. “No baby, I feel okay”. He puts his hand on my forehead, “you do feel a little warm. You’re staying in bed today”. He guides me to the living room sofa and wraps me in a fluffy blanket. “Hold tight my love, I’m going to get you some seltzer water”. God, this nausea is intense. “Mor, how are you feeling?”. I can feel her crawling forward, “I don’t feel fantastic. What did you eat?”. Were we poison

Fred’s POV Incoming text… “what day is their alpha leaving town?”. I may have let slip that Liam was leaving town, hence leaving his Luna alone. As I look at my bandaged arm, I feel a pang of guilt. No one has ever been that nice to me, especially not a Luna. I’ve never really belonged anywhere. My wolf Beau chimes in, “stop feeling sorry for yourself. You told us this was the last job so we can get out of this line of work once and for all”. Beau turns his eye to my side jobs. Ever since our mate died, we’ve been somewhat depressed but needed money. We sort of got looped into this work. Beau agreed to do it on one condition, that we were only involved in the catching part but nothing further. We don’t exactly like this job and I have started to feel more like a member in Dan’s pack. He’s been so good to us, even though we lied from the get-go. “Yes Beau, as promised, last job”. Part of me wanted to blow the whole thing off. Luna has been nothing but nice to me

Chapter 43
We managed to get through three Disney movies before I start yawning uncontrollably. I still hadn’t eaten anything today but actually heard my stomach rumble. I’m about to go check our kitchen for a snack when I hear the doorbell. Opening it, it’s an omega with a tray including two bowls and some chunks of bread. “Mmm this smells yummy, thank you!”. She smiled and left. I’m slightly terrified I’ll drop this but manage to make it to the coffee table with it. Liam has been in the bathroom, “oh no way. Mom made chicken noodle”. I sniff the air, “is that what this is? It smells amazing”. Oh and it is delicious. Apparently Grace makes homemade soups that are to die for. My tummy is satisfied. Being slightly scared it might come up if I lay down, I decided to take a bubble bath. Apparently Liam read my mind because he had already started it for me, complete with candles around the tub. He walks up behind me and puts his arms around me. “You soak for a bit. I’m gonna go check in

Chapter 44
Entering the apartment, it’s entirely too quiet in here. The bathroom door is still closed. Opening the door, it stops part way with a thud. SHIT! I squeeze through the opening and our mate is passed out on the floor in her towel. I drop to my knees as fast as I can muster and turn her over. She is still breathing. Linking mom, “get up here now and bring your bag”. Grace is there within seconds it seems. “Her blood pressure is extremely low Liam, I need to start an IV”. Carrying our unconscious mate to the bed, mom runs down the hall and back with her IV supplies. Starting the IV doesn’t even stir Emma. “Mom?”. She just breaths and smiles at me, “son, take a deep breath… it’s going to be fine”. She’s right, I am starting to feel panicked. I grab her hand, holding it to my mouth. I feel a finger twitch and then another. “Baby, Emma… wake up sweet heart”. I gently touch her cheek. “What happened?”, she musters. Just as she’s processing her surroundings, she panics at t

Chapter 45
I made it through the night with no more episodes of fainting. Grace decided to leave the IV in my arm even after the fluid was done which I wasn’t thrilled about. Something about quicker access if I need more medications. Whatever medication she gave me for my nausea last night, knocked me out hard! I turn over to the clock on the bedside, it’s already 9 a.m. Feeling beside me, Liam isn’t in bed so I check my phone, “baby, I’m in the office getting ready for our trip. Text me when you wake up”. After letting him know I’m awake, I question trying to walk after yesterday’s shenanigans. Before I commit, “Mor, you feeling better?”. She seems more chipper, “sure am… those meds did the trick”. I feel so much better about walking, knowing my wolf is better also. Something about clumsy feet and tripping hazards. As I start heading for the bathroom, Liam comes running over. “Baby, you should’ve waited for me. What if you fainted again?”. “Yeah well, what if I had wet the

Chapter 46
*TRIGGER: Chapter may contain some trigger material for some* Emma’s POV Liam is the most thoughtful and generous lover. Not just a lover, but man. I have never known one to be so kind and caring with a woman. I laid in a trance as I slowly traced circles on his chest. I can tell he likes it because he’s purring slightly. “Liam, have you ever been with another woman?”. I have no idea why I asked that. In truth, if he has I don’t want to know. He props himself up, confused. “No, I haven’t. Is it apparent?”. Oh god, he thinks I’m comparing him. “Oh my goddess, no! That came out so wrong. I didn’t even mean for that to come out”. I pull my hands over my face to hide my guilt and embarrassment. He gently grabs my hands, exposing my face. “I’m sorry I asked that Liam”. He moves to the headboard and brings me with him so he can cuddle me. “Emma, no question is off limits. You can ask me anything, always. I will never lie to you and never do anything to hurt you. Why

**POTENTIAL TRIGGER WARNING** Liam’s POV I’m still baffled by Emma’s proposal to discuss her trauma. I’m not even sure what I would ask or if I even want to know. As I ponder this, she seems slightly uncomfortable and I don’t know if it’s my delay or something else. “There are things I would want to ask but once you tell me, I can’t unknow them”. Biting her lip and looking down, “I don’t want you to see me differently than you do now. I don’t want you to think less of me is all I care about”. Grabbing her face and pulling it gently to eye level, “nothing could make me love you less than I do. It’s physically impossible”. I sense her reassurance. “Let’s go climb into the bathtub”, I suggest. I wasn’t planning on probing for any information, just wanted her to be comfortable. Emma’s POV As we both slip into the tub, I’m reminded about the water incident. Where would I even start in this story? Morgan leans in, “you’ve got this Em. Your bond will grow even str

Chapter 48
Liam’s POV I won’t lie, there were parts of that story I wanted to puke. The thought of my mate going through that was indescribable. Now is not the time to show my weakness though, I need to be strong for Emma. I pull her into me, kissing her forehead. “There are a lot of things I could say but the fact that you survived that and still accepted a mate is astounding. You are the most brave person I know”. I hadn’t really planned on crying today; definitely not this many times. I feel her small hand wiping away my tears, bringing me back to my thoughts. “Emma, I love you more than anything in the world. No one will ever hurt you again. Ever”. I feel a sense of relief through the bond. I could feel our bond was stronger than before. The only secret that remained was the continued trafficking but I wanted to wait until we weren’t so emotional to bring it up. Turning slightly so we are facing, I still felt a slight need to reassure her in every way. I knew the truth

Stupid alarm blares. Ugh, no. My mate is still cozied into me exactly where she fell asleep, I love that. I gently untangle myself to go hop in the shower when I hear, “wait for me”. A sleepy Emma trying to get untangled from the sheets and out of the giant bed. “I think that bed is bigger than a king” she adds as she trips on the sheet wrapped around her foot. “I hope our kids don’t inherit your balancing skills baby”. I give her nose a kiss. “But I do hope they inherit your good looks” and smack her butt as she walks past me. I soak up all the time in the shower with my girl. I will never get tired of watching her wash her hair. We both get dressed and head down for breakfast, suitcase in tow. I have a brief thought, wondering if she took her panties out… I hope not. The dreaded moment comes when we have to head out. Zak, Dan and his beta Matt had all eaten much earlier and had the suburban pulled forward. I don’t know if she is as forlorn as I am but she didn’t seem
