Seth regains consciousness.
A drip. A drop. A beep far away. That was all Seth could hear. For how long? He had no idea. All he knew was that he laid there, alone, somewhere. It had taken a while before he could get his sense of orientation. Before he knew that he was on his back. Aside from that, it had all been a jumble of nightmares and memories. Or at least that was what it felt like. When he had first come into consciousness, unable to raise his hands, to open his eyes, to speak, it had been extremely uncomfortable. Heck, he had been afraid. He had felt quite suffocated as if he had been stuffed in a metal box by a magician who lost the key. Quite the imagination but really, terror had flowed through his veins enveloping him. But solace had come. It came in the form of an angel. His angel. A beautiful, brown-eyed angel, whose strong words soothed and calmed his nerves. Whose voice seemed familiar. His Bella. Sometimes he could hear her talk. Most times he couldn't make sense of it. She sounded so fa

Joy and love.
"Well someone is looking quite enthusiastic," the doctor announced with a grin and the people in the room chuckled. Nate made his way toward him but was halted by the doctor before he could come any closer. "I'll have to check him first, yes?" The doctor asked and Seth almost laughed when Nate looked embarrassed and quickly withdrew, nodding like a fish out of water. "Yes, sure. You should. You're the doctor, sir." He mumbled awkwardly. Like a teenage girl. Seth wanted to laugh but we'll his throat had other plans. It wheezed and hurt and he got a pointed look from Isabella telling him how dumb he probably looked at that moment. His response to her look was a grin splitting his lips widely. Oh for the love of all things good, he had missed her. His eyes roamed her dress hungrily as the doctor checked his vitals. She was wearing a brown maxi mopey-looking dress. It looked rather horrid and he wanted to yank it off her and toss it out the window. Why the hell was she encasing her

Life's battle.
"Eat slowly!" His mother ordered with a glare that told him if he didn't listen, he was going to get slapped on the shoulder. Hard. Seth grinned at her, mouth filled with spaghetti that threatened to slip out of his mouth. He swallowed slowly though, just to humor her and not because he was afraid she would smack him.Okay, it was probably the next reason but he would never admit it to her or to anyone else for that matter. All he wanted was to be finally free from the dashed hospital bed, instead of getting back into one. He sat on the bed in his wardroom. Over the past week as news of his recovery spread around, his room had changed from a bland empty one into a freaking teddy bear shop. There was a stack of teddy bears on one side of the room, almost as high as the ceiling. It was downright annoying. Why hadn't he woken up to teddy bear stacks? Were the people so certain that he would die? And now that he was alive, they kept trooping in with stupid smiles and fake happiness, clu

Heart to heart talk
Isabella was aware of B's burning eyes as she served that morning's breakfast into the food warmer, but she ignored it. She would rather not know what was going on in that woman's head. Or even acknowledge at all that B was looking at her. After ensuring that the omelet was still piping hot, she covered that section of the food warmer and loaded the upper section with bread. Seth, like most men, was a voracious eater. The man ate like a boar. Especially after coming out of a coma, it felt as if he was making compensation for all the days he didn't eat solid food. B chuckled when the bread formed a tower. "He sure has been eating quite that much lately, hasn't he?" Terribly, Isabella wanted to say. I snuck into the hospital one time and saw him eating and he looked seriously like a pig. But she held her tongue instead and nodded glumly. She could not show an ounce of interest in B's words when she talked about Seth. Isabella planned to remain as detached as possible. Until he came h

"What do you mean, you knew when the baby was conceived?" Mrs. Allen asked, perplexed. The woman before her looked quite convinced of what she was saying. But unless her son suddenly took pleasure in being an exhibitionist, she was damn sure Isabella didn't know what she was talking about. "That night," Isabella told her, the edge of bitterness in her tone got stronger. "That night in San Francisco, after the ball. Kaitlyn drove him home." "And?" Mrs. Allen asked again, still not seeing how that proved that Seth and Kaitlyn had sex. Just because the bitch drove her son home didn't mean he was the father of that baby in her womb. "His fly was down B. His buttons were undone. And he was drunk." Isabella pointed out. "They both looked like they must have had a good time."And Isabella could imagine just how good it was. Seth was an amazing lover. That much was obvious from the way Kaitlyn kept hovering above him like a fucking bee. Something had definitely happened in San Francisco, t

The betrayal.
Seth sucked in a breath, letting go of Kaitlyn's arm promptly. His head felt light and woozy, perhaps from all the energy he had expended trying to get the truth out of Kaitlyn. He had barely survived a coma and a few days later, he was yelling his head off. "Shit," he whispered, staggering on his feet. Nate and his mother quickly rushed to catch him before he fell, guiding him to the bed. "Easy now," his mother urged and Nate patted his back as he sat down. Kaitlyn had a stupid smug look on her face, watching the scene with interest. He was acting like she had just confessed she was a terrorist or something. Seth couldn't believe what he had heard. Kaitlyn had told Isabella. Isabella thought... Fuck! That was why Isabella had left the ball. That was why...why she ran off. That was why she left!Shit, shit shit! She left because of him! She left because she had thought he and Kaitlyn had sex! She must have been heartbroken and pained and he had accused her of gold digging. Accuse

Isabella admits her feeling.
Isabella knew it was stupid to lock herself in the bathroom, crying herself into a stupor. It made no sense. And it changed nothing. It didn't change the fact that Kaitlyn was carrying Seth's baby, or that there was the haunting memory of him and Kaitlyn having sex in her head. It would be there forever and would haunt her to no end. She glanced up at the mirror and winced when she saw her face. Tears streamed down her cheeks, rolling down in waves. Her eyes were red and slightly swollen and she burst into tears again. Was this what she had been reduced to? Growing up she had always told herself that she would be an independent woman, a woman of valor who depended on no man.Woman of valor indeed. There she was, crying her eyes out, and worse over a man. A fucking man. A hot adorable but still a jerk kind of man. She was screwed. She ought to have known it when she bumped into Seth at the fertility clinic. She ought to have known that accidents happened to her often and when they d

The truth.
"Quiet!" Seth yelled, causing all murmuring to cease at that moment. Everyone stared at him in expectation, their eyes blinked curiously and his blood boiled even more in irritation. The nurses had drawn closer and would have barged into the room if the bouncers his mother had gotten weren't damn effective. Kaitlyn stood proudly, a few meters away and closer to the door. She had a smug look on her face and the cursed phone in her hands. It was alright. Seth decided. Look smug all you want Kaitlyn because I'll wipe it off your face soon. "Kaitlyn, I'll admit your show was well thought out and clever," he said finally, relaxing on his bed. Nate should have gotten Isabella by now, and who knew? They were probably on their way to his ward. That was good enough for him. She would know everything. Know that Kaitlyn was a damn liar and deserved to be locked up in a fucking asylum. She would see the truth soon. And things would be better. "So you admit you're the father?" One of the nurses

Seth got discharged.
A full week passed. For Seth, it was filled with waiting impatiently in torture. With each passing day, he woke up with the urge to see Isabella and slept with the disappointment of not seeing her. She completely stayed away from him. And it drove him mad. He just needed an audience, just one. Fuck, five minutes was all he needed to explain himself. To make her see the truth. But as each day rolled by, and his mother walked into his room with a downturned frown, Seth knew things had gotten way deeper than Kaitlyn's false pregnancy. That bitch had put him through a lot of shit and Seth was determined to make sure that she didn't do shit anymore. He would make sure she got punished by the law. For killing his baby without his consent, years ago. For having sex with him without his consent in San Francisco. For defamation of his name and Isabella's, Slander, and heck even Libel. She was going to spend the rest of her fucking miserable life atoning for her sins if he had a say in it.

CHAPTER 130The house was in perfect order and condition. There was a lot of hustling and bustling as her mother moved from one place to another with the twins hanging on her neck, blabbing things that no one could understand. Isabella felt a pang of guilt. She ought to help her mother and take the kids away but she was on a mission. Carrying either of the twins would slow her down and would appeal to the one part of her that wanted to stay. Instead of taking them off her mother's hands, she walked around the house trying to arrange them. She picked up the pillows in the room and propped them up against the sofas. She aligned the center table to the center. What are you doing? Her mind asked and she paused feeling awkward and tired with each passing moment. Scrubbing the entire house over and over for a week was finally taking its toll on her, but that was the least of her problems. Did she want to be there when Seth arrived? She had planned to leave earlier. She would make breakf
