Chapter 10.2: Ryder and Remy and the awkwardness in the air
Since Jasmine had made it a habit to spurt out random information about Remy, it wasn't that hard to find him. But there was no way things would go as smoothly as Jasmine had imagined. Ryder had no idea how to start small talks, and Remy had no desire to be around anyone. This resulted in Ryder just watching Remy from afar, feeling like a creep, and couldn't help but sigh inwardly. Whenever it was possible, Ryder would mutter a hi at Remy, who would just nod once before going in his merry way.Remy didn't have any bad impression of Ryder. Actually, he didn't have any impression at all since he had met her just twice. All he knew was that this girl had some sense in her brain and would help him escape Jasmine's claws. As for what happened that Saturday, he didn't know what to think of it. At least Ryder didn't throw punches at random.Still, for both of them, it was a bit weird to just suddenly start a conversation. What would they even talk about?Ryder felt depressed. She was doing th

Chapter 11.1: The Myosotis
After school, Ryder decided to give the "Wooden Lord" bookstore a visit for interrogation reasons. Since she was alone, with Jasmine absent for the day, as soon as the last period ended, Ryder put on her headphones and made her way out of school. There was no one other than Jasmine who would take the initiative to talk to her, so she turned up the volume to the maximum, with no worry that someone would call her out and she wouldn't hear. This idiot, of course, totally forgot about Aiden.Aiden had been in a horrible mood since lunch. Even Greg who would never let any chance to tease him didn't dare to talk to him. Who knew if Aiden suddenly snapped and things took a bloody turn? He better not risk it.When the bell rang for the ending of the last period, Aiden had rushed to Ryder. Today the damned chihuahua was nowhere to be seen. Why was he getting so mercilessly ignored? Chapter 11.2: The Myosotis
Even though what happened back in the bookstore angered Ryder to death and crushed all the high hopes she had for finally getting an accurate idea of what Midnight looked like, by the time the sun sank into the horizon, she had waved away all these dark feelings. All that was left, unexpectedly, was anticipation. By this time the backyard had already started to look more decent, the first steps to transforming it into a garden, already taken. Henry helped her earlier to plant the grass seeds, using this opportunity to take credit later when the garden was finished. Seeing that she would need his help, later on, Ryder had long since tolerated this childish behavior of her father. The original idea of the garden being her gift to her mother, turned into THEIR gift to Michelle. Since Henry was paying and helping, it was only fair to do so. Yet, Henry couldn't understand why his daughter was developing such a bad habit of staying in the backyard until late at night every single night. He

Chapter 12.1: Accidentally becoming a girlfriend
According to G****e, the Myosotis flower, also called the scorpion grass is most known as the Forget-me-not flower. The flower is small and blue, simple but pretty and delicate as if one touch was enough to kill it. Ryder could understand why Midnight liked this flower. The problem was the fact that Midnight described this small and delicate flower as doleful. Was it because of its name? The more Ryder thought about it, the more the furrow between her eyebrows deepened, the frown on her lips looked as if it would never leave. He said that if he was a flower he would be the Forget-me-not flower. That he would be a doleful flower. Why?The expression on her face was grim as it was, but when Ryder read the story behind the Froget-me-not name, her expression darkened more. The story was about a French knight who was walking along a river with his lady. He bent down to pick her a pretty little blue flower, but his heavy armor caused him to lose his balance and he fell into the current. Befo

Chapter 12.2: Accidentally becoming a girlfriend
Ryder knew very well that after that night when she tried to trick Midnight into revealing his identity, he wouldn't dare even look in the bookstore's direction, let alone set foot inside it. This was also proved by the worker whose hostility was on another level, blaming Ryder that her crush hadn't shown up ever since she appeared. The poor girl was burning up from the desire to kick Ryder out of the bookstore, but her employer, an old lady who had a bad habit of getting into conversations with everything that breathed, had taken a liking to Ryder because she would listen to her rants and occasionally buy a book or two.Yet Ryder still hoped that she might be lucky one day, so she didn't want to give up.Aiden almost swallowed his tongue to prevent himself from swearing at loud upon hearing this. That fucking Boner Boss again. Because of that fucking bookstore Ryder had dodged him countless times."Why are you going there again?" Why aren't you staying with me? Your new, fresh out-of-

Chapter 13.1: The date that isn't a date
The next morning Aiden woke up early feeling particularly energetic. A man who finally accomplished what he had been struggling with for days, that's who.Even though it took longer than expected and it didn't play out as he had imagined it, the outcome still was pretty pleasant. In the end, Ryder did become his girlfriend. Aiden finally managed to capture the girl. The days of suffering were finally over. Now that Ryder said yes, what could that wild chihuahua do to him? It's not like Jasmine would stop them from dating right? Chapter 13.2: The date that isn't a date
When the two got in the car and drove away, Ryder felt that she had wronged Aiden with her negligence and felt like she had to explain herself. "I'm not used to getting up early on weekends and mom forgot to wake me up. I'm sorry."Aiden who was still trying to digest all that action he just witnessed, muttered a soft 'mhm'. "It's okay. You didn't take long getting ready."Seeing that Aiden was calm and didn't appear to be annoyed, Ryder relaxed, but the reality was far from that. Aiden felt like he had seen a side of Ryder he had never seen before. The girl was a walking catastrophe and unlike the girls he knew, she didn't even brush her hair on the first date. Her hair was just simply too messy. The hair brush that was supposed to be used on her hair, ended up switching jobs and became a weapon in Mrs. Quin's hands.Aiden had since long noticed that Ryder was too casual about her clothes and appearance, but this was their first date. Isn't she supposed to be a bit more thoughtful? In

Chapter 13.3: The date that isn't a date
The moment the first raindrop fell on Ryder, Aiden frowned. When the second one fell on him, he cursed under his breath. And then when the shower like rain started suddenly he looked so angry, it was good that Ryder couldn't clearly see him because of the heavy raindrops hitting her eyelids. Aiden grabbed her hand and both of them started to run, seeking for shelter. Truth be told, Ryder doesn't mind the rain that much. She actually liked it pretty much. However, now wasn't the time to be that guy who dances in the rain. So she hurriedly followed behind Aiden. They ran for the car that was parked at the entrance of the park, but just as they got in and Aiden tried to turn on the engine, it made a very alarming sound as if it was dying, then it stopped making noise at all. "What the fuck?" This was the first time Ryder saw Aiden lose his shit. His face twisted and he looked as if he was about to explode. She felt sorry for him. Her hand rested on his back as she patted it in a failed

Chapter 14.1: How to be sick 101
Upon seeing that she had arrived one hour later than the usual time she and Midnight meet, Ryder had fallen into a depressed phase, wanting to curse but didn't know who to blame and to whom her curses should be directed. If only she had arrived an hour earlier... if only the tow truck didn't take so long... if only the car didn't break down... Ryder even wished she had never agreed on going out with Aiden, but when she remembered the bad mood the young boy had been in throughout the whole week, she just sighed in defeat and hated herself for having such thoughts. But she couldn't help it. Every time she imagined Midnight looking for her from behind the fence, waiting for her to pop out of nowhere as usual... holding the present he promised to give her tonight in his hands... seeing that she wasn't there, not a single light on in the backyard... her heart ached and felt like someone was squeezing it in their hands mercilessly. Chapter 14.2: How to be sick 101
The next day, Ryder woke up like every weekend day... past noon. It was around two o'clock when she opened her eyes and groaned like a wounded animal when she heard several voices coming from downstairs. They're already here. The urge to go back to sleep was too big, but she needed to go downstairs, because just like Henry had warned her... she had caught a cold. She needed Advil. Her head felt like being repeatedly hit with a hammer, she had a sore throat, and a runny nose and her body felt too weak to even breathe. Was this punishment for being too late last night? Ryder pouted under her warm blanket. Just then Henry knocked on the door and walked inside, not even waiting for a response... like parents usually do. Bah! At least he knocked... "Come downstairs," Henry said as he sat on the edge of the bed. His voice though, sounded a bit strange as if he wanted to say something, but was hesitating, not knowing when or how to say it. "My head hurts," Ryder whined and pulled the bla
