11: Off to Party
Wait. Did I hear him right?I leered at Lucius darkly, wondering what he had up to his sleeves to let me join his dinner. He couldn’t be this merciful to someone who disobeyed his word.Walking toward him, I asked, “Are you planning to poison me?”One corner of his lips tugged up. “What made you think that? I already told you, didn’t I? If I’m going to kill someone, using poison is the last thing I would do.” He clicked his tongue and eyed me like a snake. “Accusing your master of such a crime, little wolf, don’t you think that’s absurd?”Right. He wouldn’t kill someone through poison and I also doubt he would kill me this early. After all, I was someone he could use against Benedict.“I’m letting you eat so you will not make a mistake tomorrow.”“Where are we going?” I asked as I took a seat, my gaze fixated on the table. There were two plates of pork steak while others were side dishes. Though I was hungry, the meat was half-cooked and I didn’t eat barely cooked meat even when it wa

12: Alpha Couple
I slept the rest of the flight and only woke up an hour and half before we landed. Lucius had changed into a black button-down long-sleeved shirt and black tux. His attire was all black only accented by a silver chain on his neck and silver Rolex. Meanwhile, my dress was also dark – a gradient of dark red and black, which gave me an idea how Lucius loved dark colors. He must have picked it himself. The dress was nice though. It was a tube dress with a puffy skirt extending down my knees. The upper part of the tube was black, then going down it turned dark red until it turned to a brighter shade of red at the end.Lucius left the cabin while I dressed up. I tied my hair in a classic bun, leaving a few curly strands at the sides. While finishing my makeup, I heard the door click and I saw Lucius walking towards me in the mirror. I put the gloss down and stood to face him.“Are we landing now?”Instead of answering, I saw his eyes move around my face before it went down. I cleared my thr

13: Clash of Alphas
"Nervous?" Lucius asked as we walked to the first deck. People in dashing dresses and suits were everywhere, and it seemed like almost all of them knew Lucius."I can hear your heart. Calm down, little wolf. No one will gobble you up. Well, at least when you're with me." "I must say your hearing sense is very sharp, master," I whispered back, smiling at him with a little glare."I'm the greatest alpha, aren't I?"A narcissistic fool.I pulled my hand from his arm and faced the sea. The cruise ship was slowly departing from the port. I've been to a cruise ship before, once, but not this big and grand. The ship didn't fascinate me though. It was the sea."Let's go to the central hall to greet the couple," Lucius said."Couple?" I asked as we walked inside."This is an anniversary party of Florence and William Atkinson. Florence is a close friend of my late mother who married William, alpha of one of the biggest packs here in Turkey.""Then why are you so sure that Benedict will be arou

14: You Can't Rule
Benedict’s eyes turned to slits. I knew he was annoyed so to annoy him more, I smiled at him. Lucius chuckled softly in my ear. Though before Benedict could come up with a retort, a feminine laugh resounded on the entrance of the hall.I turned my head to see who it was and saw Lucius’ relatives, his Aunt Roselle and her daughter, Sophie. When they spotted Florence and William, they immediately walked over us.“What a grand celebration this is, Florence,” Roselle said, looking around with her rogue colored lips curving up. When she noticed Lucius, she parted her lips, but when she noticed me, she shut it and furrowed her brows. “I thought you won’t attend, Lucius.”“I want Maddy to meet Florence,” Lucius replied.Giving me a final look, Benedict excused himself before walking out of the group. I kept glaring at his back until I couldn’t see him.“You’re not engaged for long, cousin. You shouldn’t be bringing her over important occasions. Who knows you’d get tired of her tomorrow or th

15: Art of Seduction
“But you can do nothing now. You can’t put up a fight against me,” Benedict said surely, inching closer to me that I was afraid he’d suddenly push me off the deck. I loved the sea but wasn’t a good swimmer to enjoy a night swimming at this time.“How sure are you that I can’t put up a fight, huh?”“Why, do you think you can win over me now just because you have Lucius Voss beside you?” He shook his head with a playful smile on his lips as if thinking that I had lost my mind. “You are wrong, princess. Lucius is not a prince charming who helps a random damsel in distress.”“I beg to differ. I do look like a prince, Benedict. While you look like a villain,” I heard Lucius' voice and it wasn’t long when he appeared beside Benedict. “Are you that jealous of me to badmouth me in front of my woman?”Lucius took a step closer to me and held my waist. Benedict watched me as if he was trying to decipher whatever puzzle I had on my face. It seems like he was trying to tell if what was going betw

16: In the Labyrinth
We returned to Seattle the next day. It was a long flight and I used the time I had to ponder about some things.I clearly understood now what Lucius wanted me to do. For me to be his puppet and obey all his whims in disguise of helping me ruin Benedict. But if I blindly follow his every command, wouldn’t it be not my revenge but his? And at the end of the day, what would I become? A trash at his disposal. Which didn’t sound good to me.He had his plans, but I should have my own too. I couldn’t just rely my goals to someone who wouldn’t think twice of killing me if I made a mistake. I should have my own direction. That was why I came up with a plan myself.I couldn’t just let that Lucius Voss control me. If honey trap was his way of luring Benedict to his web, then I would use that same tactic to him.Seduction. I looked over the window of my room, pacing back and forth, thinking how I could possibly fool two men at the same time. Not just ordinary men but devil alphas. It would sure

17: Behind You
It smelled like flowers, honey, vanilla, something with a bit of sandalwood. I could not pinpoint exactly what it smelled like but it smelled so nice. When I regained consciousness, it was the first thing I noticed. Then when I opened my eyes, I noticed the room I was in which wasn’t anything familiar. It was spacious and the bed was nice. The walls were painted beige and it was cozy. Was I somewhere in Lucius’ manor? What happened in the garden? How did I get here? I rose from the bed, confused. Lucius didn’t allow me to enter just any room. Trying to remember what happened after I went close to the mirror, I went off the bed and walked over the glass window. Tall curtains fell on the sides, letting the light of sunset go through. Wait, it was already sunset? But I went to the garden at eleven and spent a few hours there. Did that mean I slept the rest of the afternoon? My eyes widened in horror. I should be back in my room before Lucius arrives! Turning on my heel, I stopped wh

18: Soul for a Soul
“Come back here,” Lucius said seriously. There was no mockery nor playfulness in his tone.I went closer to the mirror and put my hand on it to see if I could get through it but I only touched its surface like a glass. I tried to break it with two fists but I couldn’t.I thought I was dreaming? If someone could tell he was dreaming in his dream, then that could be lucid dreaming. And weren’t lucid dreams supposed to be easy since you could take control of whatever’s happening around you? Besides, wolf shifters’ minds were stronger than humans. It was rare for us to have such nightmares where we are trapped and powerless like this.Could it be that I never got back to the manor and got trapped inside the mirror in the maze? After all, the last thing I remembered, I went close to the mirror and felt like I was being pulled by a strong force before everything went black.“Get out of that fucking mirror, Madeline,” Lucius ordered once again as if he couldn’t see me trying to get out. But

19: You Can't Die
“You should stop him!” I looked at the woman, panicking. I couldn’t just let anyone suffer in my place when it was my carelessness that got me here. It was my fault and no one else should die for it. “I have no say in whatever is happening outside the mirror, nor could I refuse a soul if it’s thrown in here. The mirror has its own will, and that is to take every soul that goes through it.” “Then at least let me talk to him,” I pleaded desperately, watching Lucius stand aside while Bentley walked over the mirror pushing the poor maid. I bet they just got her from the mansion without letting her know that she would be killed for no reason. “Apparently, that is not possible.” “But Lucius talked to me earlier from outside.” “Yes, he did. But the mirror only let him see you for a moment because he used some spell on it. But this relic is more than a thousand years old. It can manage its power so well that even a powerful alpha could not get through its barrier,” she explained. Her long

20: Out in the Cold
The rumbling of the sky made me jolt from a shallow sleep. A flicker of lightning flashed across the garden before drops started to fall. I looked up, my face getting wet by the light rain that gradually turned heavy.Hugging my knees, I put my chin above it. It was unbelievably cold that I could feel myself shivering. My clothes got soaked but I couldn’t stop thinking how a person just died because of me. I knew Lucius’ evil nature was to blame but I admit I was at fault too. If I didn’t let my curiosity over something obviously dangerous take over me, I couldn’t have been sucked by the mirror.I remembered something like this happened back when I was young. I had this friend, Sasha, whom I really liked. I was ten and studying at the town’s school for wolf shifters. Dad had always reminded me to never go near the town’s borders, but one time, Sasha asked me if I could come with her at the riverbank near the border to look for her mom’s necklace she dropped when she went there with he
