I didn’t know if Xavier and Zoe had crossed limits; to my knowledge, the only person Zoe has been caught with is Xavier. I couldn’t hold back the anger boiling in my veins, but I acted calmly in front of Derrell."She is not a teenager you can control," I scoffed at him for lying about her age and running her life for years. She didn’t get to enjoy her teen life because she never grew past 15 years of age."It doesn’t matter. I don’t want a pregnant, unmarried daughter," Derrell grunted at me."Then don’t; I will take her with me," I loudly stated, but Derrell shook his head even more vigorously this time."No! I will not let my daughter walk away with you." He stubbornly placed his hands on his waist and kept glaring into my face.I realized I needed to first confront Xavier. I wouldn’t want my sister to have the same fate as Olivia."It’s okay. I will take care of her," Mia promised me, as she, too, wanted me to let Zoe stay here."I’ll fix everything and till then you, you keep you

"How filthy of you to ask something like that from me, and how stupid of me to think that you actually loved me," I muttered as I refused to believe I fell for someone like him. "Really!" he bobbed his head in sarcasm. "You know what’s------sad?" I asked and was about to cry when I tried holding in the tears. My voice cracked as I tried to make a sentence."Do tell me," He asked, faking a sad face and staring at me. "That I actually believed you for once, " I whimpered, even after trying so hard not to cry. And he kept smiling like an idiot. Which shattered me even more. "Hm! You believed what?" He continued to ask me, resting his hand on the wall behind me and locking me in his arms. "That you loved me," I whispered under my breath. I don’t even know why I was feeling like I had been betrayed when we weren't even together, but the pain was too much."You were over here trying to look good and perfect and making me believe ---you would never disrespect me yet you are suggesting s

I took the car back home to discuss it with Xavier this time. But before I could meet him in his office again, I met Miranda. She seemed to have been waiting for me in the corridor. Because the instant she got a glimpse of me, she straightened her back and prepared herself for yet another argument.Honestly speaking, I was getting sick and tired of her at this point."Yes Miranda? What do you want now?" I asked in exhaustion, not in the mood for an argument, but I knew she wouldn’t rest until she had bothered me to the point that she heard something from me."You were rude to him. Do you know how everyone was looking at you when you barged into the office and ruined the meeting? I understand you think you are invincible, but you cannot disrespect him like that. Everybody would be talking about how a mere girl is toying with Mayor Xavier. She started a bunch of nonsense. I don’t understand why anyone would talk about us. About the meeting, I was embarrassed. I did that. But I would rat

"Tell me, Jace! I am waiting for your answer," Xavier insisted. But what shocked me was when Jace took only three minutes to say, "sure. If that’s what you want. You know I’ll never let you down, Xave." I couldn’t hold back the shock I got. I was so wrong to think he would try to be a better person.I wasn’t angry that he was marrying my sister, but I was annoyed and scared for her future. This man had confessed his feelings for me, and now he was going to marry my sister. He is going to ruin her life."Wow, then it’s done. Jace weds Zoe," I said aloud, sarcasm dripping from my voice. Jace was surprised to see me behind him. That guy was either a coward or a liar. In both cases, he was awful. How could he say yes to that?"Phoe---" he stuttered, looking like he was going to pass out. Did he expect me to never find out about the marriage?"No! it’s okay. I mean, if it saves Zoe from getting strangled by the people of the town, why not?" I was so mad at him that I couldn’t break eye co

"So, what is going on now?" Mia sat down with me as I waited for Zoe to finish talking to Martin. Derrell left the house after he was basically told by Xavier not to interrupt. I could only imagine how terrible he felt when he realized he wasn’t allowed to interrupt us."I don’t know. I hope whatever decision she makes, she does it for herself and her baby. She doesn’t have to force herself into staying with anyone," I said, staring at the staircase."I am talking about you," Mia’s words shocked me into turning to her."I am not afraid of Zoe anymore. She had found a sister who would do anything for her. But what about you? What is going on with your life?" The way she smiled at me, I could see the guilt in her eyes for whatever happened to me and my mother."I am not traumatized, if that’s what you want to ask me. What happened that evening was horrible. But I am glad I had someone who helped me see that life is beautiful. I am not the wrong person here. Those who beat me up were at
