CHAPTER THIRTY
Lanaya shook her head emphatically. Actually, he was relieved. He had never been able to do anything with her since Salviana would always interrupt them. But since she was working independently, Salvetti could maintain his progress at the store."'You know,' he said, 'the look you gave me at the mall. To what end was that?"She slid onto her side, facing him again, and her face erupted in a crimson glow."So said Salviana.Just trying to help out here.I really wished to."Again, he let out a hearty chuckle."To be honest, Lanaya, I don't see an issue with that. For my life, I can't even explain how much I liked it."She took a deep breath and gently turned around to face him. While that was going on, he'd shifted back to his side. He winked at her face, and she reacted by clearing her throat.Their breaths mixed as he drew in closer."Are you sure you want to proceed?" She took a deep breath as his lips brushed against hers. When her breasts brushed against him, she realized how clos

CHAPTER THIRTY ONE
Lanaya's body turned rigid the following second for reasons that had nothing to do with pleasure and everything to do with trauma. Before Salvetti could even take it in, he had repositioned himself so that he was as far away from her as possible. She stayed still for a while on the bed before getting up and running into the bathroom. The door snicked shut behind her. Salvetti then heard some heaving sounds a few seconds later. He sighed and got up, walking over to her and opening the door. The two of them came upon her as she vomited into the toilet. He got on his hands and knees and brushed her hair out of her face. She looked at him startled as if to demand that he go, but another wave overcame her before she could make any demands. After an eternity of minutes, she finished and collapsed backward onto the floor. She put a hand to her face and began to cry.Salvetto wooed her gently into his embrace. She began crying even more angrily, but he persevered until she sat on his knee wit

The question, "Is this all right?" While Lanaya's legs were tucked in between Salvetti's, she asked. With her attention fixed on his collarbone, her hands rested comfortably on his shoulders. He sat there silently, his fists gripped on the chair armrests. Was she trying to harm him? Had she stepped into his space uninvited? After a lengthy moan, Salvetti opened his eyes.A reversion to the original yellow color of the eyes. She licked her lips nervously.A stern warning: "Don't do it." He was on the verge of a snarl. She dropped her guard and started to get to her feet, unsure what she shouldn't do. Salvetto's hands were on her hips in an instant, shooting a jolt through her. She froze, her hands gripping tightly on his shoulders."Stay." Muttering under his breath, he clenched his hands on her hips to emphasize his point. "Put your teeth down and stop biting your lip. Either way, I will not have to answer for what I do."She shuddered, recalling how he had only said those very things

CHAPTER THIRTY THREE
Salvetti did the right thing by moving closer to kiss her, leaning forward by a whole inch. Because of him, Lanaya had the guts she needed to complete it, something she had lacked when she had to do it alone. After they had locked lips, Lanaya slid her tongue under his lower lip and then did nothing else. She worked on his jaw for a while before going on to his hips, which he pushed up. To reach his earlobe, she softly nibbled at it.A phrase that literally made the room go blue. His hands jerked crazily against her thighs. With a shudder, Lanaya realized that her hands had lifted his shirt, revealing his stomach. She could not take her eyes off of his tanned, Italian-sounding skin. And don't forget the hands that brushed across his stomach to test whether he was indeed made of rock.In response to her fingers touching him, he took a deep breath and felt his gut tighten. She lifted his shirt and saw that not only was he tough all over, but he was also covered with scars. The same as h

CHAPTER THIRTY FOUR
Lanaya woke up in her bed five minutes later. Her legs were intertwined with Salvetti's, and he was lying curled up next to her. There was no reason for her heart to be pounding other than sheer excitement. She was too sleepy to worry about the potentially hazardous man lying next to her.She felt a chill run up her spine as his fingers traced a path over her hips. The pointing hand relented. Turning around, Lanaya saw him staring down at her with an expression she couldn't decipher, and she wondered whether he had discovered the same pleasure she had.His eyes had become a burned umber, and he merely gazed at her.Lanaya gently brought her palm to his face, running her thumb over the wrinkle in his brow. She reasoned that such a handsome man would not be frowning. Another shiver ran down her spine as a thread of doubt slid through her body. Did she do something to deserve this punishment? She let go of her hand and tried to get up, only to discover that she couldn't. A strong touch f

CHAPTER THIRTY FIVE
Salvetti entered his office to see Salviana gazing at Travis. Not in the mood for them, he turned his ire at Parker and Andrew. He was unhappy with how fast they had become great buddies. They didn't notice that Carter had followed closely behind. Based on the sounds from Carter's phone, Salvetti assumed he was playing a game. His shoulders heaving, he sighed and sat at his desk to begin his job.He reasoned that if he simply ignored them, they would eventually go.Forms and bank information made up the bulk of the paperwork. He normally would have asked Travis to handle it since he was financially savvy, but he was too preoccupied with provoking Salviana to bother. It was important for Salvetti to divert his attention away from Lanaya. For the simple reason that he always pictured her soaking in the tub. Before heading to the office, his first stop was his bedroom, where he changed into a different outfit. In addition to leaving his shirt in Lanaya's room, he also left himself a tang

CHAPTER THIRTY SIX
Salvetti waited on a seat outside Mason Greene's mansion an hour later. Even though it was smaller than Salvetto's or Capo's mansion, it was still rather spacious. It turned out that Andrew was hiding under a tree in the park across the street from home.Parker pretended to have automotive difficulties by opening the hood of the SUV in the middle of the road. It turned out that Travis and Carter had sneaked around in the back, scanning the area for escape routes. They were quite skilled in deception, which was likely why Salvetti didn't trust them with Lanaya. He concluded that leaving her bodyguards with her would be harmful in the long term. Giving the impression that the bodyguards' primary purpose was surveillance rather than protection. It may prevent her from developing or cause her to dislike her new circumstances.Instead, he abandoned her in the company of Travis and Carter and left...friends.It was time for Salvetti to check his watch. There was no better moment than now.A

CHAPTER THIRTY SEVEN
As soon as Salvetti entered the home, Wickus led him to the game room. Without stopping to inquire as to why he was loitering in the foyer rather than pursuing Salviana, Salvetti instead made his way to the game room.As they scowled.Lanaya was leaning over the table, her upper body almost touching the surface. She had an almost-correct grip on the pool cue. Oh, sh*t, Salvetti was rockin' a semi. He intended to take her in front of everyone in the room after killing them all. When Lanaya dropped the cue, the white ball flew into the air, ricocheted off the table a few times, and rolled beneath a sofa. The hair on his head bristled. That's very bad. We're glad to hear that "you're better." After receiving a commendation, Salvetti began to wonder whether one of the guards had gone completely crazy. "This time, you refrained from shattering a glass panel. See? Progress."He scowled and gave an unsatisfied survey of his surroundings. The farthest window from the table did, in fact, have

Lanaya, who is paranoid about her own shadow, hit him nevertheless. He batted his eyelids at her.Avoid consuming this. She issued a stern caution. To paraphrase, "Demons created that one."Well, that settled it; he was really thrown off now. With a puzzled, "What are you talking about?""She's talking about the time she nearly scorched her tongue." A source of supply was provided. His head bobbed up and down. I doubt she realized the flavor was spicy until after she ate it. In fact, Salvetti was willing to wager his finest suit that they didn't forewarn her about the dangers. He gave them a death gaze. Disgusted, some people turned away.Salvetti decided to play along and maintained eye contact while he ate a big mouthful of the pizza she had just smacked away. Chewing gently, he murmured his assent somewhere in his throat. She appeared to be in shock."It doesn't burn." He said this as he kissed her and put his arms around her. She let out a squeal but didn't try to escape. Some mal

CHAPTER THIRTY NINE
The following morning, Lanaya went for a stroll outdoors on the expansive property. The temperature was hot, and the sun was intense. She felt a headache within the first few minutes since she was not used to this stimulation. Lanaya clenched her teeth and continued on her way.Believe me, I've been through far more difficult times. That's what she told herself. Having a headache is no big deal.Half an hour later, she was experiencing migraine with pulsating pain, causing her eyes to cross. There was a beautiful bench beneath a tree with tiny white flowers but few leaves, and she was fortunate to have found it. The small bit of shade that the tree did give landed right on the bench's surface. She sighed and sat down.Another film was viewed the night prior. However, things went smoothly and without any worries. They were no longer the same people, and Lanaya was afraid of the implications of this shift. Even though she had become more courageous, she was afraid of her boldness. She w
