Chapter 10
It seems like something is bothering Xavion during breakfast, so I do the unthinkable and reach out to his shoulder to soothe him. He slightly jumps at my sudden action but quickly relaxes in my touch. "I'll talk with my colleagues on Monday," I whisper in his ear as he slithers his hands around my waist to hug me from behind. Xavion perks up at my statement and drops his head on my shoulder with a smile, clearly content with my words. "How about we all do something fun together to get to know each other? The town doesn't have a lot to do but I'm sure we'll come with something," I broadcast to the rest of the visitors. "I love that, otherwise I'll faint by being in such close proximity with my brother for much longer," Tasia speaks up as Jay takes another batch of toast. "Or we could just leave those two alone," Rae suggests with a cheeky grin. "I don't mind," Kao shrugs and continues with his food. "Yeah, the alpha is actually scaring me," Finian joins with sarcastic fear as X

Chapter 11
"I want to take vacation leave," I admit to Eleanor while we clean up before we go home."What?" Demetri suddenly joins, making Eleanor swat him on the shoulder for rudely interrupting."But you never take leave," Demetri continues talking despite the look Eleanor is throwing him. His loud words have caught everyone else's attention and they are slowly making their way over."He has a point," Zack also speaks up. "You don't.""Hey, just because I would like to enjoy some alone time away from you guys, doesn't mean it's illegal," I try to counter them with a joke but most of them look at me with doubt.Linda opens her mouth to say something but I decide to just come out with it. "I met a guy, okay," I blurt out and immediately regret it when everyone burst out in question all at once."Since when do you meet people?""Are you sure?""Who is it?""How did you have a decent conversation with a stranger?""HEY!" Eleanor yells out, making everyone immediately quiet down."Thanks," I throw

Chapter 12
"This is it," Xavion spreads his arms out to show the massive house hidden on an unregistered road behind the mountains. It's been a few days since the rogue appeared and between me and Xavion, we found a middle ground as to when to leave. "Woah," is all I manage to get out upon seeing the small thriving village, unknown to the whole world except for these very people who live in it. "It's nice, isn't it?" Royce suddenly speaks up, making me slightly jump at his appearance. "Sorry," he apologises upon seeing my reaction and Xavion pulls me to his side before I can respond. "They've already prepared an extra room for you," Xavion clutches my waist as he leads me to the biggest cabin. I wave to the bystanders when we pass them on the dirt road. He takes me to the second floor of the cabin and down the hall to the left. "Here, make yourself at home," he gestures to the inside of the room and I must say, it's quite big. "Oh, wow. Is this where I'm staying?" I think out loud, not e

Chapter 13
I wake up to the sun's rays burning my face through the curtains. As I gain consciousness, clattering and movement can be heard and as the waft of food hits my nostrils, I realise what's happening. Breakfast. I groan into the pillow before throwing the duvet from my body. My body rolls itself out of bed and I wobble a few steps toward the bathroom before gaining enough control over my body to freshen up. A knock on the door makes me slightly jump as I finish pulling a shirt over my head. "Heard you're awake," Xavion's voice states from the other side of the door. I pull the door open with a smile and greet him with a "Good morning to you too." He chuckles under his breath and continues to wish me a good morning. "Yes, good morning. Do you want to come down for breakfast?" "Give me one sec," I hold my hand up before grabbing a pair of shoes and sliding into them. I nod my head to indicate I'm ready and Xavion takes my hand into his own as he gently starts leading me down the s

Chapter 14
"Ah!" I exclaim in surprise as a werewolf toddler jumps onto my back while I'm sitting on the floor. "Jackson, wait!" I panic as he climbs over my shoulder and prepares himself to launch onto my lap. I try to gently catch him as he continues moving over my shoulder. We both plummet to the carpeted floor and I make sure Jackson falls onto me instead of the floor. I sigh in relief when I look down and notice Jackson laying on my stomach while giggling. "Jackson!" Maggie scolds the young boy from across the room, making him jump up while still in my embrace. He runs off without a thought and I'm left on the floor with my wind knocked out of me. Another face pops up above me, her long hair tickling my face. The 6-year-old-looking girl offers me a smile and I try to genuinely smile back, but I'm sure the pain is preventing me from doing so. She waves at me before running off and I groan while pulling myself into a sitting position and notice that Maggie isn't around anymore. Pro

Chapter 15
I feel someone gently touching my hand, making me look down at my hand and notice the little girl with the teddy bear trying to hold my hand. She must have noticed my nerves growing more haywire by the second. "Thank you," I whisper with a soft smile, crouching down to reach her eye level and interlocking our hands. She offers me her own smile, letting her blonde hair fall over her face as she shyly glances down. Tasia exclaims something under her breath and before I can even look up she rushes to the front door while yelling over her shoulder, "I'll be right back!" Her words caught me off guard and before I could even process what happened, she was already out of sight. Too afraid to look out the window again, I stay on my spot on the ground and lean back against the wall. I slightly adjust my posture to let the little girl take a seat beside me. She makes herself comfortable by leaning into my side, so I remove my hand interlocked with hers and pull her into a lax side h

Chapter 16
"Can we talk now?" I ask Xavion, the wooden beams on the ceiling filling me with immense boredom. "Mhm," he nods but doesn't move from his position by my side. "Xavion," I warn him with a stronger tone, hoping it gets through to him. It does. "I know, I know. I'm sorry," he almost jumps up at the sudden urge to comfort me, my voice having more of an effect on him than I thought. He caresses my cheeks with his large hands and the roughness of his hands with the gentleness of his touch throws me off guard for a moment but I regain my composure. I lean into his touch to let him know I'm not going to throw a fit and he seems to relax a bit at my calmness. "I understand you are protective of me, but you have to talk to me so I can understand you better. I can't feel your feelings, unlike you," I softly advise him, remembering I'm human in a pack full of werewolves. I don't let the reminder discourage me because I don't want Xavion to go through another moping session. "I was scared.
