Chapter Twenty (Dane’s POV) Decades before…
“Great!” Saraya said as I walked out of the cave, holding a bunch of snake plants. She had teleported us to a cave in the Southlands to get the tropical plant. “The last thing we need now is Struthio Camelus and I can make the amulet!” “Camel bird?” I repeated. “Yes!” “And what would you need that for?” “I need the skin to use as a durable leather to hold the spell! I could have loved to use a diamond, but I don’t know where we can get one big enough to use,” she said. “I have diamonds,” I said and watched as her beautiful eyes widened, and excitement danced in them. “How come?” she asked, frowning. “I am immortal, and it is the most effective means of buying things?” I said, slowly as if I was speaking to a simpleton. “Of course you do!” she said in exasperation as she folded her arms against her ample chest and glowered at me. “Let me guess, you also have gold coins stashed somewhere in unlimited supply,” she said. I grinned. I know she was being sarcastic but it pleased m

Chapter Twenty-one (Dane’s POV) Decades before…
I woke up sometime later with the cabin smelling of smoke, sulfur, death, herbs and lingering, sweet fragrant plants. Saraya was not by my side and her side of the bed had grown cold which meant she had been up for a while. I could perceive her in the house, she was just not by my side. I had grown used to waking up to the warm feel of her body and the lack of it made me quite irritable. Grunting, I got out of bed, found pants to wear and headed out barefooted. A frown furrowed my eyebrows when I found the entire kitchen area covered in smoke, but I could see her clearly, standing behind the kitchen counter. The entire work table was littered with plants but when my eyes settled on the diamond rock I had given her with the snake plant, I knew what she was up to. There was also a glass gourd which I knew witches often use to hold enchanted substances, herbs or trap spirits. My eyes slowly lifted to her and she looked at me with a wide grin that wasn't hers. Her eyes were pitc

Chapter Twenty-two (Dane’s POV) Decades before…
With the newly made charm necklace around my neck and the pendant tugged under my tunic, we headed out to town. Saraya was so excited she portaled us to the hem of the woods leading into Daekrahm in the North-central lands. The North-central lands are basically the land of clan rejects Werewolves who have gone rogue, the undead – nocturnal creatures of the night, banished dwarves, witches and generations of demigods with no magical talents who are now plain stray humans. Creatures who are natural enemies, cohabiting, with the sheer need for survival. But the Werewolves or Shifters as they are also known are the majority and it is in their nature to form packs, consciously or otherwise, making them the dominating kind amongst the others. Lycans have impressive numbers too, but not as the werewolves. No thanks to my kind. And the weather was quite conducive. My kind thrives in cold weather and the plain was plunged in constant snow. Also, Helios, the sun goddess, simply refused

Chapter Twenty-three (Dane’s POV) Decades before…
“Um… Are you alright, lad?” Gloringreag Horncoat asked wearily. I stood back and removed my charmed necklace, watching his eyes bulge as he stared at me. Winking at him. I wore it back and handed him the paper I had written our list of supplies. He lowered his astonished gaze at the paper and then up at me. Saraya walked in behind me and his eyes darted from me to her and then back. “Saraya, my mate,” I introduced. Saraya simply nodded at the shorter man. His face suddenly crumbled and catching me unaware, he ran to hold me by my left leg. “Thank the heavens! You can help us!” he cried quietly. “Help you? From what?” I said, lowering my gaze to the small human. “The shifters! They want to take over the territory and charge us taxes for protection!” he replied in a rush, gazing up at me. “Shifters?” I repeated “The ones you call abominations!” he replied hurriedly. “Abominations?” Saraya repeated. I growled. “Werewolves,” I scoffed under my breath. “That is funny, shouldn’t

Chapter Twenty-four (Dane’s POV) Decades before…
" "Um… will you let me down?" Saraya said close to my ear. I turned my eyes to her. "You holding me up like this doesn't quite scream 'fear this witch'!" she said through gritted teeth. I wanted to throw my head back and laugh. She glowered at me as if she could read my mind. I smirked instead and slowly lowered her to the snow-covered ground. But I placed my hand against the small of her back, silently letting her know to stay by my side. The wolves growled, snarled and stalked forward, prowling as they spread out surrounding us. A loud cry rang from the town and then several howls. The loud animalistic cry of dominance rented the air. The witch laughed. "Looks like you two were trying to run off. Tsk tsk tsk, I thought we made it clear there would be no desertion...." the witch said, conjuring fire and using it to create the symbol of witches, causing it to surround Saraya and me. I saw her eyes widen when neither of us flinched. "Who are the 'we'?" Saraya asked, placing her ha

Chapter Twenty-five (Dane’s POV) Decades before…
I fought hard at the natural instinct of my beast. The scent of blood and flesh was not helping and in the middle of it all, I could distinguish Saraya's scent. Her soft floral fragrance was the only thing distracting me from completely embracing my animal side. Using it as my anchor, I clung to it and turned away from the sight of humans. Then I saw a burnt and headless corpse of a figure in crimson attire alongside the dead bodies of a lot of werewolves. It was quite easy to note which was her kill and which was mine. She watched me cautiously and I shut my eyes in my last attempt to contain my beast but I couldn't. Letting out a loud growl, I found myself moving to go to her. The urge to be close was overwhelming. Getting to her, I scooped her up and buried my nose in the nook of her neck, drawing in her scent like a starved freak. "D--Dane?" she called softly, gently smoothing back my hair. She was shaking with fear. "Don't be scared of me," I growled barely audibly. She wrapp

Chapter Twenty-six (Dane’s POV) Decades before…
The following morning I woke up with Saraya's soft lips tugging and suckling my nipples. My breath quickened and my chest heaved as my hand sought and laid in the small of her back. I found my open palm could hold her waist very well. The corner of my lips tugged but the amusement quickly disappeared when she wrapped her fingers around my cock. I hitched a breath and slightly opened my lids. Her pink tongue darted and slowly stroked my broad tip. I sucked in my breath, waiting as she slowly put me in her mouth and sucked. "Ahhh!" I groaned. Sharp and almost painful pleasure strokes through me. My laboured breathing rented the air. She tried to fit the whole of me in her mouth but couldn't. Then she started to pump me with her two hands wrapped around the hilt of my shaft as she suckled the tip, and succeeded in putting at least half of me in her mouth. I took quick shallow breaths. The pleasure was overwhelming. She knelt on one side of me, bending over my groin, I reached in b

Chapter Twenty-seven (Dane’s POV) Decades before…
The Weres brought us more wood than we needed and they helped us pile them just by the living room fireplace and then up in the bedroom. By evening the fire of roasting antelope lit up my grounds. And the tantalising smell filled the air. Our unwanted guests were literally camping on my porch and forcing my woman's attention. Saraya stayed outside with them, playing the perfect hostess. Heaven knew I would have left them there perhaps that would have made them leave earlier. Saraya's laughter rang out now and then and I loved the sound of it. She was happy and content and that was what made me let them be. But around midnight she came inside to check on me, wanting me to know our guests were about to leave and I had to say something at least. Her eyes were alive and animated. Her cheeks were rosy and healthy. She was still tying the toga and they made her look so regal and sexy at the same time. "Dane?" she called softly. I nodded and got up from the living room chair, thinking

Chapter Twenty-eight (Dane’s POV) Decades before…
Our second visit to the Northlands was just before the blood moon season. We have decided, by we, I mean Saraya, to always make sure we were in the central Northlands during the blood moon. I really could care less. Saraya had turned it into a mating season, where instead of meaningless killings and violence, debauchery was welcomed. Every single creature was allowed to mate with anyone they wanted as long as the other party was in agreement. We tried it once and it worked – at least to some extent. Mated humans wanted a chance to cross-breed with other creatures which led to a few fights between the clans. About three dozen human males were killed and if I had to compare it to the deaths of the previous ones, I would say it was an utter success. Saraya didn't think so. She wanted a peaceful mating season. And because I didn't have the heart to tell her there was no such thing. I kept my peace. "Dane?" Saraya called coming down the stairs of the cabin. "Mmm…" I grunted, craning m

Chapter Twenty-nine (Dane’s POV) Decades before…
"Dane!" she screamed as the disintegration was almost to her head. "You, my love you are a fucking goddess! Fight! Fight, damn it! Don't you let them do this to us! Fight!" I yelled with anguish. "Find me…" I thought I heard her say, but I couldn't be sure. I saw a shimmer in the air right at the back of where she stood and then she was gone. My heart tightened so hard that I fell to my knees. The pain. Oh! Heavens! The pain was profound. "Selene!" I screamed in pain. The very core of me was burning. "Selene!" I continued to yell for the goddess who created me, showed me what living meant and sentenced me to damnation. The anger was slow, but it came like a poison vine and it wrapped its claws around my soul. Now that the only reason I had wanted to live was taken from me, what was there to live for? I stood up, grunting like a wounded beast, I broke off the charm necklace around my neck and threw it aside and slowly let the animal in me out. Like a volcano, I busted out of t
