Chapter Ten (Saraya's POV)
I went back into the room and waited for him, pacing back and forth I was a mess. My heart thudded at an irregular tempo. Impatience swelled in me. I needed to know what was going on and if Dane would not tell me then I would have to go looking for answers. "Go where though?" I muttered under my breath. "According to that creature, there's a war brewing," I argued with myself still pacing. My eyes settled on the glass wall covered by drapes and I walked to it. I parted the drapes and stood there, scrutinizing the plain. It was dark out but I could see as clearly as day. The entire plain was covered in snow and tall pine trees were like shadowy monsters as far as eyes could see. I lowered my gaze and they fell just to the ground outside the wall. There was a medieval fire pit built at the centre with wooden benches set at the side of it. Slightly away from the sitting area was an outdoor oven built with mud and iron racks lined the inside. I reverted my eyes to the sturdy bench a

Chapter Eleven (Dane's POV) Decades before…
My kind was created solely for battle, not compassion, not empathy, and definitely not love. Offsprings of Gala call us Lycans, a half-human half-beast. Some believe we were the first generation of Werewolves cursed by Zeus for trying to trick him into turning into a cannibal. Others believe that we were direct descendants of Selene, the goddess of the moon, the granddaughter of the primordial parents, Gala (mother earth) and Uranus (father sky). The truth is we were direct descendants of the moon goddess, Selene, she was our mother and Zues was our father. We were her weapons of war. And werewolves are simply unfortunate offsprings of Gala, either bitten or scratched by a full blooded Lycan. They were survivals of my kind. And there was no love lost amongst us. After the Titanomachy war, a battle was fought to decide which of the generation of gods would have dominion over the universe. The Olympians gods won and the Titans, offsprings of Gala, were sent to Tartarus as punishm

Chapter Twelve (Dane's POV) Decades before…
Like a mere mortal jittery of a new bride, I cooked, cleaned, and did almost anything to keep the memory of her beautiful body out of my head but it was futile. There was an aura about her which made it obvious to me that she was a demigod. An offspring of a god and a human woman perhaps. She was special and beautiful and in my bed. I groaned, running my fingers through my mane. When I couldn't bare to stay away any moment longer, I went back inside my bedroom and sat beside her, reaching forward to run my fingers through her dark curls in utter fascination. A strange feeling of need welled in me as I stroked the side of her face. She had high cheekbones, a small straight nose and lush full lips that made my heart thud faster. I remembered the colour of her eyes was grey like the moon and longed to see them again. My treacherous eyes trailed down her body, settling over the full swell of her breasts under the covers, down to her narrow waist and I wanted to see more. I gently

Chapter Thirteen (Dane’s POV) Decades before…
"I have heard of Lycans, seen one in the Keeper's journal but never actually encountered one but I have seen werewolves – werewolves are cute when they are not trying to eat you. According to what I saw, Lycans are supposed to be ugly and vicious," she said, "you are neither ugly nor vicious," she added, as she nuzzled her face against the corner of my neck. I chuckled, then groaned when she rubbed her naked soft skin against my body. She shifted her frame, moved and lay atop me, using one hand to frame my chin and smiled into my eyes. I held her by her hips, making her part her legs to straddle me. She leaned over to press a gentle kiss on my lips. "What kind of Lycan are you?" Her sultry tone was textured with a mix of curiosity and hunger for me. She couldn't seem to stop kissing and touching me and I didn't want her to stop either. Her touch was like a soothing balm to my very soul. A slow sip of aphrodisiac in my bloodstream. "Before I answer your question, tell me where you ar

Chapter Fourteen (Dane’s POV) Decades before…
“I have always been a rebellious child. I often challenge the conventional way the coven was run. My actions were tolerable when my mother was alive,” she said, a frown furrowing my eyebrows. “I didn’t know your mother was dead—” I said. “You know her?!” “I met her once. Assisted her in getting rid of a few bad eggs in my camp—” I said vaguely. Not wanting to paint me in some hero light. That has always made me feel uncomfortable. “Oh, heavens she never told me…” “And I can only guess why. Your people and mine are supposed to be enemies,” I said. Saraya searched my gaze. “How did she die?” I asked, remembering the fair skin woman with long blond hair. The young beauty in front of me was nothing like her. Saraya’s exotic beauty far surpassed her mother’s fair one. She had more of the tan skin colour of her ancestors with her enthralling beauty. Perhaps Saraya was not just a mere descendant of a god? “She was attacked and mortally wounded in the Westlands,” she replied. My frown d

Chapter Fifteen (Dane’s POV) Decades before…
I couldn’t help leaning into her to press a kiss to her lips. Dipping my face to the nook of her neck, I pressed my lips to her skin and she shivered. The instant effect I had on her, made my heart soar. I shut my eyes to revel in the feeling for about a minute, enjoying how her body reacted to mine so naturally. And then the strong musk of a wet dog assailed my nostril, I let out a string of expletives in my head, wishing the fucker could fucking give me a break. “I am going to distract him and you, my little one going to take the back door and get the hell out of here,” I whispered when I drew back a little to meet her gaze. Her eyes were darting in their sockets and what I saw in them floored me. “Saraya…” I called, knowing before she opened her mouth that she wasn’t going to follow my instructions. “I can’t leave you,” she said simply, even with fear in her eyes. “Please, don’t ask me to,” she pleaded, reaching forward to clutch the fabric of my shirt. “I can help,” she added.

I took the other side and rushed to the back of the house. When I got there, he was running after Saraya as she ran into the woods at the back of my cabin. The coward shapeshifted and leapt, I picked up speed as Saraya turned around to watch him almost upon her and tripped. A loud groan emitted from her and fury burned hot in my bloodstream. I knew killing the bastard would have consequences but he was beginning to piss me off! “Mátia san kárvouna, dóntia kofterá san xyráfi, áschimoi migádes tis kólasis, emfanízontai sta plíthi sas kai tréfontai me sárkes athánatou!” Saraya muttered but her voice rang high and echoed in the dark cold night. Multiple portals of a burning twirl appeared in the thin air and about twenty-four of the ugliest hellhounds I had ever seen leapt out and upon the guardian. I came to an abrupt halt, stunned and watched as the poor bastard punched and fought off the hounds. Slashing them deftly with his pitchfork and stabbed a few squares in the chest. But the mo

Chapter Seventeen (Dane’s POV) Decades before…
The sky rumbled and lightning flashed ominously, I knew what was coming and we needed to get the hell out of there. Taking a deep breath I pressed a kiss to her forehead and muttered. “Trust me when I say, I truly hate to break this up, but we need to leave now!” I said, causing her to withdraw from me. She gazed up at the sky and directed a frightened gaze at me. “What is happening?” “More of him coming for my ass,” I said and got up, reaching for her wrist. I drew her close to my body and added, “I know of a place we could lay low for a bit, and I need you to hold onto me, link your mind with mind, and portal us there.” “Portal? I have never tried that before,” she said as she searched my gaze with widened eyes. Cupping her lovely face, I said, “Trust me, you can do it.” She swallowed and nodded. “Tell me what to do,” she said. “Hold on to me, I will link my mind with yours and you will take us to the place you see in mine,” I replied. She nodded. The grounds started to s

A moment later, Saraya appeared, tying another sheet around her body and over one shoulder – toga-style. I trailed my eyes down her body, feeling my body grow hard for her. "Dane?" she called out. Her voice was soft and hesitant. And I could see she was carrying neatly folded clothes. I thought then she must have brought me a change of clothes. Naked and all, I went to stand behind her, slowly snaking my arms around her waist. She stiffened and then her body relaxed against mine. I nozzled the nook of her neck with the tip of my nose, drawing in the scent of her freshly scrubbed skin and trailing my lips down the slope of her shoulder and then up to the base of her neck. "I brought clothes," she said in barely a whisper. "Mmm…" I grunted, slipping my hands into her wrap to cup her breasts. "I don't need them though," I rasped. "Oh!" she gasped as I lifted her up and took her close to the side rock, making her press her open palms against it. I slipped my left knee in between h

Chapter Nineteen (Dane’s POV) Decades before…
“I am a messenger!” “You took the wrong job!” I thundered, the mountains shook and shimmers of sand sprinkled over us. Saraya’s fear was palpable so was the Djinns’. “I had no choice!” “When next you have a chance to breathe air into your fucking lungs again! Ask questions!” I gritted with clenched teeth and said the last part with my hand aflame. It cried out withering in pain. “Don’t kill it. We could use it!” Saraya said. I ignored her. I was too enraged to think and I have no idea why I would need a Djinn. I heard Saraya whisper and I knew it was an incantation, I jerked blazing eyes at her and she quickly shut her eyes and continued to mutter. Soon enough I was clenching nothing but air. I growled out loud and she used both of her hands to cover her ears. “I was going to kill that!” I snarled. “Calm down please we need it. I will explain when you are calm,” she whispered fervently. I took steady breaths and the scent of blood assailed me. Lowering my gaze, I saw that my
