Chapter 80: First Gladiator Fight of the Year
A year quickly passed like the wind, as the higher-ups of the Neo Roman Empire fleet finally started plans for their gladiators. After so long of high-intensity training, the anticipated and dreaded elimination rounds have begun. During Kalen’s time training on the ship, he forfeited from making friends as he was sure that 99.9% of them were going to die by the time the tournament was over, if not 100% of them. That was how deadly the situation he was in. Despite this fact, he was still a human, in the end, he became closer to 2 people than all the others. They could not be considered bosom friends, but they were close. His 2 new companions were a boy and a girl, Alexis and Ethan, a perfect combination to curb his yearlong boredom. “Kalen, I know you’ll probably blast through this elimination phase.” Alexis joked to liven the atmosphere between them, though she could not hide the sadness in her tone. Unlike Kalen who was a field agent, she was

Chapter 81: Alexis's Surprising Debut Fight
From the next day onwards, the fights continued as people watched with excitement. Gladiators died while the others shined, using the death of their opponents as steppingstones to glory. It was cruel, but in here, the gladiators didn’t have control of their fate. They were slaves to Neo-Rome. The gladiators had no choice but to fight to the best of their ability or die trying. It was survival of the fittest as the weak died and the strong moved on. As the tournament progressed, a lot of hidden masters started appearing as predicted, making the elimination round a lot more dangerous and unpredictable. After standing on the sides and watching others duke it out for about a week, the dice finally rolled to Kalen’s small circle of companions. It was the day that Alexis would fight her first opponent. Kalen and Ethan both wished her luck before she ventured into the cage. This was the best that they could do, the ball was in her court, only she could decid

Chapter 82: The Magician is Born
As the bloody days of the elimination round passed like the wind, the day of another highly anticipated fight finally arrived. This time, it was between the Lone Dragon and the Maniac. The Maniac, Kalen had no idea why his opponent gave himself such a weirdly controversial name, but he was prepared to put in his all to win this fight. It may be that his opponent was trying to use the name as a form of reverse psychology manipulation and to perform weird tactics, but he didn’t care. If he trained hard and was strong enough, no obstacle was insurmountable. “Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time for an exciting fight. Make you don’t leave your seats because we one here one of the best performers in training fight in his first gladiator fight.” “We are expecting an exciting spectacle of wild fighting, I hope that you are as exciting as I am.” The commentator started his job like usual without delay, as his projection appeared above the gladiator cage wi

Chapter 83: The Second fight for Alexis Dupuy
At another important cage arena on the ship designated for the gladiators, a fierce fight was going on. This was a fight between Captain Vladimir, the commander of the Spartan Fleet, and another 3rd rank high-grade warrior. During the 3rd rank high-grade warriors training sessions, he was not too exceptional as he opted to act in a low-key manner, but no one dared to underestimate him. As the commander of a whole fleet, his strength and capability were unbelievable, everyone was clear on that. This was his first gladiator fight; his ring name was just Captain Vladimir. He was too arrogant or probably too lazy to brainstorm for a tyrannical nickname, his opponent’s ring name was Deathstroke. As soon as the fight began, he was too impatient to slowly fight in a drawn-out fight as he charged forward to meet his opponent decisively. Though his opponent was not the best, he was among the better ones in their training sessions.  His opponent us

Chapter 84: Desperation
BOOM!! The Hermit didn’t relent, as he ended the combo with a horizontal slash with both his swords. Alexis barely blocked the blow with her swords as she lost her footing, staggering and falling back. With added force from her opponent, she was slammed down on the floor as strength finally faded away from her body. She felt weak all over and was not dizzy. “Is this it? Am I going to die here?” She couldn’t help but ask herself inwardly, as tears rolled down her eyes.  She never wanted to be a gladiator, but this was not a choice that she could make. This is how this age is. She could not help but feel boundless hatred as her thoughts continued unrestrainedly. “Mom, Dad, why did you give birth to me in this era of violence?” The strong survive and make the use of the weak as chess pieces and sources of entertainment. She knew that in this age, the one with the biggest fist speaks, but she was still indignant. Why was she born in t

Chapter 85: Death Round
After a week of treatment, Alexis was finally discharged. She came to meet her friends, looking energetic as usual. During this week that she stayed in the medical bay, Ethan fought his second fight. It was not as dramatic as hers though. He won after a drawn-out battle of attrition. Forget about his lack of self-confidence, he was still one of the best on the ship. His lack of confidence is because of the steep requirement of only 5 survivors. ******************************************* It has been 3 months since the tournament started, and today was Kalen’s 2nd battle fixture. His opponent this time is the Scythe. The fight was without any suspense as he completely crushed his opponent.  After some time, Alexis and Ethan also had their 3rd fight. They both fought against weaker opponents and won after putting in some effort. The main highlight of these recent fights was the Emperor’s 3rd fight, which he fought against Yue Fei. Y

Chapter 86: Epiphany
After return, Kalen went back straight to his room. His 2 friends were already there to welcome and congratulate him. “Kalen, you are so fierce. Damn, that was intense.” Ethan exclaimed exaggeratedly as soon as he saw him. “I can’t believe you abandoned your weapons to finish the fight with your fists, that’s completely tyrannical.” Ethan kept on heaping praise on him which finally made him smile a little, earning a burst of laughter from Alexis. “Hahaha, you only know when to smile when praises are heaped on you right?” She asked in a slightly accusing tone. Kalen was left speechless.  “Can’t you allow me to enjoy my glory for once?” He could only cough a little to hide his awkwardness, as black lines already covered his face. ***************************************************** For the rest of the day, there were talks of how the Lone Dragon demolished the Trickster became the talk of the day. Kalen didn’t know all of t

After the 2nd round, 51 soldiers survived. 50 of them had to fight, as one lucky gladiator was allowed to advance to the next round without fighting. After the 3rd round, only 26 soldiers survived. Then after the 4th round, these 13 soldiers were the golden goose survivors. These 13 soldiers are then going to fight for the last opportunity to survive. Chapter 88: Breaking the Speed Limits
At last moment of desperation when the Exterminator’s weapon was advancing to cut her leg, Alexis’s brain calculated, and she discovered that she could not avoid losing her last leg. So, she just ignored it. It was already spilled milk to her. She focused on striving for the last effort at breaking her speed limit. Forcing breakthrough was her last gamble. As soon as she lost her last leg, her brain spammed her with pain signals ruthlessly, but she tried hard to ignore all these. Before it was cut, she managed to propel herself up a bit. She gritted her teeth as her suspended body ascended higher. Blood dropped like rain after her ascending figure, making the battle arena extremely bloody. Every spectator held their breaths and widened their eyes, as this scene completely felt like something out of a horror movie. The excessive blood loss was already muddling her consciousness. A normal soldier would have already been in a near-death state fro

Chapter 89: Death of a Friend
The Demon Slayer couldn’t endure it anymore as he tore open his last trump card. He quickly started his ultimate, his self-created technique, the Wild Strikes of Death.  Normally, he used his self-created technique as his final finishing blow. This is because self-created techniques are very energy and concentration draining, even more so than divine battle arts. This immediately caused his offensive to rise a level, as his opponent started struggling to keep up. Ethan included this in his plans, as this was not the first time that he saw his opponent using this self-created technique. Despite his preparation, things don’t always go according to plan as the increased offensive was fiercer than he predicted. He repeatedly parried with his 2 swords, while letting out grunts and retreating from the force of the blows. Ptui!! Ptui!! He finally slipped up which his opponent promptly took advantage of, inflicting him with 2 deep cuts across the
