Chapter Twenty One
The fairy speedily made his way to Alexander's office but he was stopped by a sight on the dining table. Both of the people there were seating down on the chairs, conversing in sad tones. They were Isaac and Lady Victoria. Nomar had wanted to check up on them earlier before he was cut short by his sudden trip back to Alexander's office. Now that he had seen them here he would stay and listen to what they were talking about for a while before heading on his way."It was such a sad news to us all in the keep, especially me," Lady Victoria was saying." I had always wished for a grandchild and I was this close to getting one when the fates decided to interfere in Beatrice's life. Why did they have to rob me of my first grandchild? This should not have happened to us," Victoria lamented. Isaac spoke, his voice heavy with sorrow. "Lady Beatrice has still not woken up. I wonder how she would feel when she is told of the bad news. It will sadden her greatly, that I know. She would feel grea

Since she could not talk loud enough for him to hear, she resorted to using her weak arms to bang on his shoulder. As Alexander felt Beatrice hitting him on the shoulder, he was at first surprised then confused. He had heard her whimpers but he thought they were ones of sorrow. He thought that she was hitting him on his shoulders because she did not want him to hold and comfort her. He did not know that her hitting him was because of another thing entirely. He decided to just pull back and ask her what the matter was."What is it, Beatrice? Why are you hitting my shoulders? Do you not want me to comfort you? Please, tell me what is going on," Alexander implored.Beatrice

"My dear wife," Alexander muttered as he paced around the living area. "How will I comfort her now? Life has really dealt her a great blow and she is just reacting to it. What will I do now? I am really out of ideas and I do not know what to do. Who will I call for help? Who will I tell about this predicament? I will have to tell the members of this household about Beatrice's ailment sooner or later but i shall wait for a few more days to decide what to do about it."As the volume of Beatrice's sobs increased, coming from the sleeping area and filling the living area, Alexander thought hard and deep. He had searched his brain for a solution but he had not found any. What was he to do then? he asked himself. As he was about to give up, an idea suddenly occurred to him and he resolved to act on it. The next morning, Alexander woke up and the first emotion that came to him was relief and then happiness. He was relieved that he had managed to convince Beatrice to go with his ideas and he was happy that the joy of love which the sad aura of these past days had threatened was returning back to them. He was pleased that they had found a common ground to agree upon yesterday. Beatrice was a simple person and she always saw reason with him. Alexander woke Beatrice up and as she woke up, he smiled at her. She smiled at him in return before a knock sounded on the door cutting them off from their loving state. Alexander went to the door and opened it to admit Lucia and the two other maids she had mobilized in. "Good day, Lord Alexander," the two maids chorused at the same time. Alexander nodded in response to their greeting before Lucia greeted him. "Good day, my Lord," she said. Alexander smiled at her, a warm smile that reached his eyes. He bestowed that smile upon Lucia because of

Beatrice was very surprised as she stared at the person who had just entered into her chamber but at the same time, she was happy too. She was grateful that Suzanne had visited her now because she was not expecting to see her for at least another seven months to a year. Beatrice knew that she had been warned against overexerting herself but this time, she threw caution to the wind and ran the short distance to where Suzanne was standing, her luggage beside her on the floor. She wrapped her arms around her sister and Suzanne hugged her back too. Before both of them knew it, tears had started to run down their eyes. Lucia watched the two sisters in joy, tears almost coming out of her own eyes too. What a beautiful moment that she had the pleasure to witness. CHAPTER TWENTY EIGHT- UNDERSTANDING EACH OTHER
Alexander looked at Beatrice and saw that she was beginning to get angry. He did not expect her to be angry but he knew why she was. She did not like him to take decisions without informing her and he had done exactly that. He had not wanted to tell her before asking her sister to come because he knew that she would have told him to allow Suzanne to stay back in Chester. She did not want to disrupt her sister's life even though she needed her at this low point of her life. She would deny it when he said it but he knew that it was true. After all, she was his wife and he knew her better than anyone so he knew how she thought and how she handled her emotions. For now, Alexander reminded himself that he had to answer Beatrice's question in a pacifying manner. He did not want her to get angry further with her state in the way it was. He had to go gently with her. She did not need to be stressed in this stage of her sickness least of all by him, her husband. "My dear wife, I am sorry for

Beatrice heaved a sigh of apprehension. She did not know how to start telling her sister of the sickness that was currently afflicting her. She did not want Suzanne to panic so she knew that she had to choose her words carefully. She would not want Suzanne to think of the ailment as deadly if not her heart would be dashed. If Suzanne knew something about the sickness, it would be another matter entirely. Beatrice knew that she just had to find a way to tell her about it without raising an alarm in her sister's heart. She knew how much Suzanne cared about people, and when she learnt about Beatrice's sickness, she would be very sad about it. I had better start telling her now, Beatrice thought. If I am to judge by the looks she is giving me, she already knows that I am hiding something from her, and she is about to start panicking. I do not want her to do that so I just have to tell her this instant. "Suzanne, my dear sister, this issue of my sickness is a long story but I will ma
