20: RETURN OF A FRIEND
While Alvira mourned her father's loss, Simon sat in his wheelchair waiting for her to resume the day's job. He was earnestly hoping she would come and beg him to take her back so, he could blame her for abandoning him in the rain the previous day, then melt down her punishment and watch her get mad at him for it. The mere thought of her getting mad at him made him smile unconsciously as he flipped through the day's newspaper, which had never seemed to stop sparking his interest ever since Alvira showed up. In fact, many things had sparked his interest since she became his caregiver, he had begun to find interest in things he had lost interest in, in the past, that is, as long as he had the opportunity to torture her while doing it. He chuckled to himself at the thought, that was probably why everyone in the mansion admired her and saw her as a competent and efficient worker. The knock on his door brought him back to reality. He looked up and his smile broadened. "She's here," He

21: STAGES OF GRIEF
Emily walked out of the hospital room and shut the sliding door behind her. She paused for some time and rested her back against it. Alvira was neither eating nor drinking anything she offered, she was even refusing to respond to anything Emily said to her. If she responded at all, it was to say, she wanted to see her Tim. It was frustrating and Emily was not sure what to do, what if she took her to the mortuary to see Tim's body and she throws a tantrum there like last night, what was she going to do? As she tried to decide what to do about her daughter, she looked up and saw a family; a mother and daughter to be precise, pushing the wheelchair of a man who had a nasogastric tube passing over the base of his nose. The woman shared occasional glances with him and smiled. Emily looked at them sadly. It was not long ago, in fact, it was just yesterday when she had gone about pushing her husband around like this, with hope in her heart, now she had lost him. He had gone so suddenl

22: FINDING HIS WAY BACK
Simon and Asher spent hours reviewing the documents that showed clearly the state the company has been in in the last three years that Simon had abandoned it.Simon went through the last page of the numerous documents and could only sigh. He had looked through the document showing all aspects of the company transactions; those carried out in every department. Including the accounts, sighed partnership deals, and monthly and annual productivity of the company products. "It's in a mess. A huge mess." He said and Asher nodded. "You're right." asher affirmed. "What has Josh been doing all these years? How can he run a company like this? Why is the board so patient with his incompetence? Is this some kind of joke to them?" Simon asked angrily. "What could they possibly do? The fall in stock value isn't entirely his fault, not on paper anyway, all these investments were things the board members saw potential in and agreed to together. Even if they wanted to seek out loopholes, they woul

23: DIFFERENT
Asher strolled into the mini-study where Jared always took care of his own duties. He looked around the room, he hadn't been here in three whole years and nothing much have changed. The room had a single shelve, with books neatly arranged in it, a table stacked up with files, and two chairs on either side of the table, facing each other. It wasn't a spacious room, just one large enough for Jared to get his job done. Asher's eyes drifted to Jared, who seem busy going through different documents patiently. He was a little bit older than himself and Simon but was meticulous about his duty. He had received the job of a butler when he was way younger than he is now, as opposed to other butlers who only got such a job around the age of thirty or so. Unfortunately, even though they have both worked for the same family for years and have seen themselves, many times, he and this man didn't know themselves well enough to call themselves friends, so he thinks he would settle for acquaintance.

24: WOUNDED LION
Simon had just finished having his launch when Jared and Asher walked into the dining room, picking up the servet paper, he wiped the corner of his mouth as he watched them walk in. "Is there a problem?" He asked with a raised brow. "No sir, I found her number," Jared said with excitement and Simon frowned. "Didn't you say, you have no access to her file?""Yes Sir, I do not, but I had asked for a number I could call her on in case of an emergency and she gave this to me," He said as he handed over the paper to Simon who looked at the phone number written it for before he picked up his phone and dialed the number. It rang a few times but no one answered. He looked at his pjone screen. "She's not answering," He said with a worried frown that Asher didn't miss, Jared sighed. He was beginning to believe Miss Alvira didn't resume work as a result of what he thought might have happened yesterday, even though he had been scared about asking Simon all day. He sighed again, gathering u

25: NO GOING BACK NOW
Ever since the call to Alvira the previous day, the Walkers' mansion lost its cheerful glow and it was beginning to seem as if things would be returning to the way they used to be before Alvira showed up. Simon went up to his room and never came down, dinner was refused, and anyone who knocked on his door was either chased away or fired. By the next morning, no one dared to go near his room's door or make a sound loud enough to draw his attention, as everyone feared for their job. Jared could only sigh, what he feared was coming to pass immediately. No one was sure why he was reverting so quickly, maybe Alvira gave Simon a purpose for his uneventful life. Maybe seeing someone who never gave up no matter how much he bullied her, gave the hopeless man some hope and made him more curious about life. No one knew. "Where is Simon?!" Asher asked as he rushed to the foot of the stairs, disrupting the thoughts of Jared who had been standing there for the past hour, wondering if it wa

In the next two hours, Simon and Asher got themselves busy, Simon got ready for the ceremony, while Asher called a few board members who turned out to have already seen the news and were more than happy to escort the company's president that has been recuperating for the past three years. More board members also got the news from their colleagues and called as the news seem to have become a hot gist amongst the board members that Simon would be attending the contract signing ceremony. Simon got himself dressed in a pure black suit that matched the occasion and the color of his now sleeked-back black hair and found himself seated in an automatic wheelchair that Asher had bought urgently to add to the effect. When they were ready to leave for the ceremony, a new guest arrived and Asher rushed to Simon. "Simon! There has been a new development." He said and Simon looked up at him from the automatic wheelchair that he had always wanted. "What development?' He asked and Asher immedi

27: RETURN OF THE PRESIDENT.
"Uh," Josh laughed nervously as he turned to the crowd, "I guess it is my honor then, to welcome back the president of Walkers' group of companies. 'Simon Walker', can we welcome Simon back home with a round of applause?" He said and the hall burst into a round of applause and cheers. As they cheered, the press clicked their cameras continuously while the reporters present there clacked away busily on the keyboard of their laptops as each of them wanted to be the first to release the news of Simon's return to the public Simon professionally smiled at the clicking cameras. One that he had learned from a very young age to present to the press along with an unreadable facial expression. "Hmn!" Josh began to clear his throat again in an attempt to restore the attention of the press back to himself, it took a few minutes for the desperate clicking of cameras to reduce but when it finally did, Josh smiled. "It is really an honor to have you back Simon, and to have you witness this great
