Ashina couldn't believe that Hrolf would want her to sign the document and subject herself to slavery. Doing that would give him power over her.Satisfied with her cleaning, she scanned the sparkling-clean pantry before she walked out of the room.Ashina paused in her tracks, gripping the banister tight when she heard voices coming from the top floor. She contemplated if eavesdropping on them was a good idea. Her curiosity got the better part of her as she swirled around on the staircase towards Hrolf's study where the noise was coming from. "I can't believe he escaped."Ashina frowned when she heard Hrolf speaking. He sounded so angry and it made her heart thump with unease."Are you sure he was there?" She heard him ask."He was there. I am very sure." Ashina recognized the female voice. It was Cassie's."Then it doesn't make sense! He had no reason to escape! He didn't even know we were coming.""I can't believe we failed." Ashina stumbled back when she heard Hrolf hit the wall i

More trouble
"Who could have informed Ramon that I was coming for him?" Hrolf thought as he paced his room.He paused, racking his brain, trying to come up with an answer to the question he had racked his brain over and over again. But he couldn't think of an answer, he tapped his legs on the ground. He suddenly thought of Cassie, she was the one who knew where Ramon stayed, could she have warned him?He sighed and sat on the bed. It was late at night and she would be asleep. It would be better to quiz her as he liked tomorrow. Moreso he was tired. He laid back in bed to sleep.*******"Erik!!" Hrolf barked from his office.Erik knocked the office door lightly, before opening it."Yes Alpha." Erik replied."Call me Cassie." Hrolf ordered."She will be here in a moment." Erik said and swirled around to do his bidding as fast as possible.Erik walked out of the house squinting his eyes. The early morning sun shimmered in the blue sky, illuminating the earth. He strolled towards the end of the Pack w

Caught
Hrolf stared at the guard's body laid over the slab in his morgue. His hands vibrated with anger because although he had run after the figure he saw, he couldn't catch up with it.A myriad of emotions swept through him. Why were strange things happening in his Pack? He was confused."Alpha, everyone is gathered." A guard walked in to inform him."I will be there soon." Hrolf turned to leave the room.He opened the door, and everyone was already there, he greeted them and they did the same, and took a seat. He could see how sad they looked, they just lost another guard. Although they were trying not to show it.It was hard for them. He lost a member of his pack again, he was tired of the frequent deaths. He didn't want another guard or anyone else dying, he had to try hard to keep calm."We need to be careful, we don't know if they'll attack again. To that effect, I will start patrolling outside with you all every night" He added and the guards nodded their heads."Where's Cassie?" He

The verdict
Ramon frowned slightly because he knew why Cassie had that look on her face. She was the culprit. But he wasn't going to let her take the fall. Instead, he was ready to do so for her. Memories of their time spent together ran through his mind and he shook his head to wipe them away. Hrolf turned his gaze from Ramon to Cassie wondering what they were doing. Did they have a secret way of communicating with them? He wondered but he smiled when he recalled their past.He walked in large strides toward his chair at the head of the table."Cassie," He called."Yes, Alpha," "Did you find anything of interest while you were at the stable?" He questioned.Cassie moved forward and threw the arrow which had been collected on the table." Here," she pointed out at the arrow."Zeeb," Ramon murmured under his breath. Hrolf squinted his eyes wondering if he could talk audibly."What did you say?"He questioned Ramon. Cassie threw a glance at Ramon, pulsing her lips. She hoped and prayed Ramon wou

Ramon's escape
Ramon threw a glance at Cassie as he was being dragged away. This wasn't what he was expecting but he was being punished for what he knew nothing about.Hrolf's voice rang through his mind and he wondered if defending Cassie was worth it. He took a last glance at Cassie as the door was shut against his face."This isn't right, you don't even have proof against him," Cassie pointed out. Hrolf scoffed wondering if she wasn't being foolish. If she was sensible she should have known this was a trap and she was walking right in. "Why do you say so? As far as I am concerned Ramon is the only one who knows anything about the arrow and he said something about them being extinct do you know anything about the arrow?" He questioned. " No, Alpha," Cassie answered with her head bowed to the ground. She was gnashing her teeth and wondering what had just happened in the few minutes she was gone. She had searched all through for Erik who she thought would be sleeping in his room but that wasn't t

Immune
Hrolf pulled open the door to the prison and stepped in. His heart hitched when he saw the guards lying down. "Are they dead?" Erik questioned. He bent down, placed a finger on their neck, and exhaled sharply. "They are not dead," he said to Hrolf. Hrolf stood at a corner of the room glancing at the prison. He needed an explanation about what had happened here. Ramon had an accomplice and he needed to fish that person out immediately. "Cassie" Erik muttered. Ramon shook his head refusing to believe what Erik had just said. Cassie wasn't so stupid to do this. He knew that. "She wouldn't dare," Hrolf answered. Cassie was a lot of things but he knew she wasn't that stupid to let Ramon go under his watch. "Wake them up," he pointed at the guards lying on the floor. Erik tapped the guards on the neck but they didn't respond to him. He turned to Hrolf wondering why this was happening. Hrolf walked closer to him, placed a finger on one of the guard's lips, and frowned. "They were g

Drugged
"Cassie" Hrolf repeated absentmindedly as he walked toward Cassie's room."Cassie," He screamed as he pulled the door open and walked in. He frowned seeing that the bed was untouched and it meant she didn't sleep on it. It made him more suspicious and even though he wanted to ignore this he just couldn't. Not when the evidence was glaring at him. He punched the couch furiously, exerting force on it. "You have to calm down," Erik said. He was scared of Hrolf's wrath."She double-crossed me, Erik, Cassie had the nerves to double-cross me how dare she?" Hrolf asked, his eyes blazing with anger. "Alpha, you have to calm down, being this angry wouldn't help at all," he said. Hrolf pushed Erik away, making him stumble across the room until he held the bed for support. "Alpha," he called out in shock. He was surprised at Hrolf's action. Hrolf had sprinted out of the room in his rage. He half walked and half ran into the hallway hoping he could find Cassie his beta. "Father," Gael cal

Turned against
Hrolf couldn't believe what he had just been told. Cassie was drugged? Who would have done that? He wondered. He slumped on the bed rubbing slightly on his head. Hrolf had heard the guard mention Cassie's name before going unconscious so he had thought she had something to do with all of these but it seemed he was wrong."You should go," Ashina said. She had been watching him since Erik broke the news about Cassie being drugged and she had seen different emotions course through his face in less than a minute. Hrolf turned to look at Ashina and he scoffed. "When did you start telling me what to do and what not to do?" He questioned her. Ashina gulped in her spittle while wondering what she had done wrong again. She thought she was helping him but it seemed that wasn't the case. "Erik, where is Cassie?" Hrolf questioned with a stern look on his face."She is still lying in the stables alpha, I would advise that you let one of the maids attend to her first" Hrolf squinted his eyes

Grudges
Hrolf stood there watching Ashina glare at him before being dragged away to the dungeon. She had spat out words of insults on how she would make him pay for every tiny thing he had done to her before being dragged away. "You shouldn't have done that," Erik said. He knew Hrolf was under pressure because of all the strange happenings around the pack and needed to think properly. He stared at Gael who had tears in his eyes. He sat on his bed refusing his father's touch and talking about how much he hated him. Erik sighed heavily. Hrolf had made the wrong choice. He had. There was the opportunity of using Ashina's power as a healer to heal the guards and make them wake up quickly but he didn't. Instead, he had hurt the only person who could help them. "She deserves all that she is getting Erik, you don't feel pity for the enemy do you?" Hrolf turned to ask Erik who was silent. Erik sighed softly before turning to look at him. "We could have used her to our advantage. She is a healer,"
