The sun beat down mercilessly on Rengganis’s skin. She crouched with her subordinates behind the shade of a large tree, eyes sharp, bow ready in hand, stalking a deer. Rengganis steadied herself, squinting. A wave of reluctance washed over her at the sight of the animal. But then, for a split second, her mind felt like it wasn’t her own and swish, thud! The arrow shot out and struck the deer in the back. Rengganis’s eyes widened as the arrow hit its mark. Her hands trembled, and the bow slipped from her grasp, falling to the ground.“Oh no, I killed it,” Rengganis murmured, face going pale. Her heart pounded. Guilt clutched at her.
